Line Symmetry of a Feather

(sometimes called Line Symmetry or Mirror Symmetry) is easy to see, because one half is the reflection of the other half.

HMM.

Sorry folks - this little Smurf was unfortunately a bit uncooperative ... but I hope you can see the symmetry nonetheless ; ))

For those interested: this 'baby' smurf is only 2.5 cm high

The Rossio Railway Station, originally known as Gare do Rocio, and also Lisbon Central Station, is an interface of the Sintra Line, being one of the main stations in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It is located next to Rossio Square, in the city center. It began to be planned and built in the 1880s, as a branch of the Waist Line, having been inaugurated on May 18, 1890.

It took me the longest time to find a subject for this week. At the last moment, I lifted an antique lamp in our living room and there to my surprise were these line patterns.

New crocosmia buds photographed by sunset light last night. This fascinating plant is so new to me. (Hummies love it, too.) My husband had his 200mm macro lens, and we kept vying for the last slanted golden rays of light.

The tiny budding main frond measures 5.4 cm /2.16in—well, it did when I photographed this one. I first had in mind to enter this in Macro Monday for this week’s theme. We had such fun taking photos.

Macro Mondays, June 25: Line Symmetry

This symmetrical heart shape with spirals was created as follows:

Cut a piece of ribbon about 18 inch long and 1 inch tall. Fold the ribbon in half, lengthwise. Roll both ends towards the centre. Adjust the two spirals to form a symmetrical heart shape about 2.5 inch in diameter.

I decided to use yellow colour ribbon as it symbolizes happiness.
