As the level of the main plaza (Plaza Cuadrangular Hundida) was lower than that of surrounding structures, an intricate and efficient drainage system had to be designed and installed--part of which can be seen here.
The Chavín culture is the oldest of the major cultures in the Andes; it flourished 900-200 BCE. Chavín de Huántar is its major site (which had been inhabited since about 3000 BCE). It is located in a high valley of the Peruvian Andes east of the Cordillera Blanca near the headwaters of the Marañón River at an altitude of 3180 meters (10,430 ft). It was a major ceremonial center for the Andean religious world whose area of influence included most of today's Peru.
Chavín de Huántar is one of the earliest and best known pre-Columbian sites which displays advanced construction techniques and innovative artistic expression. It is characterized by coated quarried stone buildings and artificial terraces around plazas, containing an internal gallery system with an intricate network of vents and drains unprecedented in South America. The buildings and plazas were decorated with lush anthropomorphic and zoomorphic iconography.

A pair of GBRf hired DRS Choppers nos. 20302 and 20301 "Max Joule 1958-1999" come out of the sun and head 6Z20 10.00 Gloucester - Derby Litchurch Lane through Tamworth, consisting of two tank wagons used in conjunction with the movement of new London Underground S Stock from Derby (branded as 'Barrier Wagons' - they would have been match wagons in my BR days, barrier wagons were something completely different back then). Another pair of Choppers nos. 20308 and 20305 "Gresty Bridge" dead in-tow on the rear.

Progress of works in February 2014 for the removal of the level crossing at Springvale. The bridge deck is complete and the new depressed line is being excavated and the new station is under construction, immediately to the north of the old one.
Works are to be completed during 2014.

For this photo I couldnt use my L-358 light meter as the battery had died, therefore I used this App which I've got on my iPhone. It worked very very well, which is good to know!
