66625 passes Penketh Hall foot crossing on 13th January 2014.

I’d cycled down to the freight only Arpley - Ditton line to try and photograph 60010 which was on the 1130 Fiddlers Ferry - Liverpool Bulk Terminal. Unfortunately it was behind the service in the photo, Freightliner Heavy Haul's 4S42 0930 Fiddler's Ferry - Hunterston which was two hours late. I left after 90 minutes with still no sign of the 60, which eventually departed the power station two hours late at 1330hrs.

The foot crossing is about a mile on the Warrington side of Fiddlers Ferry signalbox and the signal in the shot is Fiddlers Ferry's down distant.

GMP is deploying Project Servator in the City Centre during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Project Servator will see officers working with partners to target offenders of all levels, from petty criminals to terrorists. Project Servator tactics include highly visible patrols that can turn up anywhere and at any time across the city.

They will involve both uniformed and plain clothes officers, who are specially trained to spot the tell-tale signs that a person is planning or preparing to commit a criminal act, as well as a range of other tactics including search dogs and horses, police vehicles and utilising CCTV across the city centre.

Officers will also be encouraging security staff, retailers and the public to be extra eyes and ears and report anything that doesn’t feel right.

You should call 101, the national non-emergency number, to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response.

Always call 999 in an emergency, such as when a crime is in progress, violence is being used or threatened or where there is danger to life.

You can also call anonymously with information about crime to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers is an independent charity who will not want your name, just your information. Your call will not be traced or recorded and you do not have to go to court or give a statement.

You can access many of our services online at www.gmp.police.uk

The women in this bathroom were ruder than anywhere I've ever been. I got yanked out of this stall after I took this picture. An old lady REALLY needed to pee. Got shoved out of the line for the one sink by two more ladies. I was about to bust some heads up in that temple shitter.

Class 66 No. 66078 runs through Tamworth Low Level station on the up slow where the West Coast Main Line dives beneath there Derby-Birmingham route. Years ago there were curves from the north to both east and west joining the High Level line. The west curve has been gone for more than a century but I can recall seeing a 4F struggling up the east curve back in the 1960s. This was closed shortly after. (By the way, Wikipedia gets the directions of these curves the wrong way round, confusing east and west.) The names Low Level and High Level were also discontinued some time ago.

Level crossing of Somerville Road and the Newport-Sunshine line. The railway carries freight traffic as well as the Melbourne-Adelaide standard gauge line since 1995. At this location there are two tracks - one broad gauge and the other dual gauge.

This shot shows the interior of the Texas State Capitol rotunda . It's an HDR comprising 5 exposures that I subsequently turned into a duotone and did some other Photoshop mucking around with.

Running along after this bad boy and trying to get some low ground shots didn't really work. At least not how I thought it might. I didn't get the car in focus, but I think it really works!

The Grand Falls can be an awesome sight - especially when the water level is high - which wasn't the case this time but it was still worth the trip. The Grand Falls are located east of Flagstaff on Navajo land; it's not well marked but with simple directions you can find it. A high clearance vehicle would help - the last section of road is nasty. Per the locals, Flagstaff did not have a lot of snow this year, hence there wasn't much water. The Grand Falls is seasonal - once the snow melts it dries up, so if you go in the summer it might be completely dried up.

Heather and I had the place almost to ourselves (there was one other couple there). We walked down to the bottom and played around the Falls, shooting at different angles. Great late afternoon light. The one disappointment we had was all the trash at the bottom - cans, bottles, tires, toys, and even some appliances. I would definitely go back here again - hopefully with more water flowing!!

My new level was not quite on the level;

so I decided to perform an exploratory bubblectomy.

My trusty little Swiss Army knife easily popped out one of the plugs at the end of the main vial.

As I had hoped there was a screw underneath.

The second plug was much more difficult to remove and was nearly destroyed in the process.

Apparently the factory used glyptal, lock-tight or some similar substance to lock the screws in place and some of it locked the second plug in place as well.

I removed the screws to view their fine threads for precise adjustments.

I removed the vial and found the final item I hoped for; namely a pair of rubber pads.

(If the pads had not been there, I would have had to make my own out of an old inner-tube.)

It will now be a simple matter to reassemble the level and then to re-calibrate it; by adjusting the two screws to compress the two rubber pads as required to make the bubble center when the level is level.
