Fall means leaves change colour and some trees lose their leaves early; combined they make beautiful landscapes

A close-up shot of a solitary, leafless tree with a thick, textured trunk and intricate, bare branches, standing on a green and brown grassy hillside. The tree's branches show some yellow-green lichen or moss. The background is a vibrant, cloudless blue sky, suggesting a clear, sunny day. The lower part of the image features a mix of lush green grass and dry, brown vegetation on the gentle slope.

Muy buenas.

He aquí mi primera foto del año.

The water flows so fast at Taughannock Creek. Of course its on its way to Cayuga Lake. Early spring has its qualities but its best scenery is soon to come.

Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca, NY. This is basically a "what not to do in photography". I knew the harsh light and camera I was using would result in a good black and white image, however.

The Police Athletic League, otherwise known as PAL is, basically, an organization that portrays the police as "nice-guy" older bothers to young children from "disadvantaged," (i.e. poor) backgrounds. They focus primarily on sports as a way to escape the ghetto, sometimes referred to as "the streets." The semi-primitive mural depicted here rather accurately depicts the "older brother" and sports-based aspects of their mission. After all, their motto is "The best friend a kid can have."

Personally, I find the organization disingenuous. The PAL although "independent," is a police-based organization that owns buildings and runs programs in many neighborhoods across the city--in all 5 of New York's boroughs. If it weren't a police-oriented organization, it would have a different name, right? Given the climate of hatred and suspicion on behalf of the police towards communities of color--particularly the youth in those neighborhoods--the PAL comes off as having questionable motives, at best. Either they truly care for youth, or they don't...

For the group six word story.

The Ludlowville Union School is left to the elements. This black and white conversion gives this the mood I was trying to convey. We can monitor its decay since it isn't being torn down or rebuilt. It is most visible in winter, no leaves block the view.

The week had temperature swings and mixed precipitation. It was raining hard and the low-hanging clouds greatly reduced visibility. I wanted to get a few photos of the conditions before I went home.

It is only early Autumn, 2 October 2011, but a leafless tree stands alongside the path of the South Wales Mineral Railway line at the site of Cymmer Corrwg station. To the right of the tree is the north abutment of Cymmer Viaduct, of which a skeleton remains. The viaduct linked the Great Western line from Maesteg with the South Wales Mineral Railway line from Briton Ferry to Glyncorrwg. Always freight only, trains ceased in June 1970 upon closure of North Rhondda Colliery at Glyncorrwg. Parts of the village of Cymer/Cymmer can be seen in the right background.

I offen drive by this area and finally stopped to take a photo. I like the colors between fall and winter and this shows them well.

I saw the colors of the flag in this scene and had to get the photo. I was simply wandering around with my camera. All I needed was to make a little time, take a little effort, and be aware of my surroundings.

Snow was blowing in a strong wind. I wanted to get a photo when I did since the temperature kept dropping.

The way this road winds through the fields captivates me. The sun setting over the barns made for a great end to the day. There was just enough snow to brighten things up as well.

Heavy, wet snow has covered everything after a long stretch of rainy, muddy conditions. It wasn't that much considering where I live bit it made for some good scenery. More is on the way soon.

I would hope the last year can teach photographers and incessant travelers to appreciate their local surroundings more. I appreciate and enjoy the area I live in. Whenever I can't find a good spot to take a photo I realize I don't have to go really far for one.

As the sun sinks below the horizon, a dramatic crimson sky ignites the landscape, silhouetting a stand of leafless trees in stark contrast. This powerful and atmospheric scene captures the raw intensity of a winter sunset in the countryside. This photograph was shot by Duncan Rawlinson, evoking a sense of wonder and solitude, perfect for collectors seeking bold and emotive nature photography.

A drive to visit family often gives me a good time to quickly get a photo here. It was blistery and cold, the leaves are gone, but the blue sky made it appealing.

I didn't remember taking this photo, I was just looking for one to edit after finally finding some time. There were a lot of spectacular sunsets and sunrises this fall and early winter. I'll continue to look for more when the timing works out.

Single digit temperatures came along with the official start to winter. Some extra layers of clothing and I still enjoyed taking sunset photos. Not my favorite season but it has its charm.

Morning in the forest.

Guess what...another autumn photo. Again, lonely trees, mist in the background, red leaves on the ground. A chilly feeling that makes you almost feel the cold out there.

This was taken in 2007 with an HP pocket camera that I still have. I had remembered this as a sunset, the file info states that it was a sunrise. I do remember the sky being extraordinary at the time, which is why I got the camera and stepped outside.
