I had just missed the more spectacular sunset and settled with this. There was only a narrow band of clear sky to let the sun through. If I hadn't spent time on an errand I woulda got it. I'll get better shots soon.

The sunrise that morning was intense. As these colors would indicate, strong fronts and storms moved through for the next couple of days. There were no visible sunrises or sunsets then.

I made a stop at Ithaca Falls to see that the path was flooded out at this point. I couldn't get to many good places to stand because of the high water level. This winter has brought as much rain as it has snow it seems.

Lucerne (Luzern) is the poster-city of Switzerland. Unfortunately, I got here only a terribly wet day. It was pouring the whole day. A good chunk of the captures got screwed up because I didn't realize there were large drops of water on my lens :(.
It was a busy day with miserable weather. I wanted to get a few interesting photos when I was out. This old place stood out to me.

A lonely tree near Top Station Munnar... Couldnt get the panoramic view form the view-point because of clouds. So had to settle for shooting nearby trees :)
It warmed up and I got out and about. Other places were too busy so I bounced over to Ludlowville. I was rewarded with this nice rainbow at the base of the falls.

Its also the season for named tropical storms. Clouds from the system were just starting to get to the area. Flooding concerns continue for those near the coast.

First day of Fall? I guess It won't be long before the trees look like this again and the cold winds of Mr.Snow Miser roll in! Yet I never miss Mr.Heat Miser (Mr. One hundred and one) He's too warm....
Hector Falls is easily viewable from the road. The view toward the lake is compelling as well. It is such a steep fall and winter brings its own magic to the scene.

Officially one day away but close enough. I hadn't been to the upper part of Taughannock Falls State Park for months due to construction and maintenance there. It was nice out, just very windy.

Oxford Christchurch Meadows with the River Cherwell about to burst its banks.
The view is from Christchurch Meadow over one of the distributaries of the River Cherwell and the sports field of Magdalen College School, once said to be the most beautiful in England. Also in view are some of the buildings of St Hilda's College; former students including Mrs Thatcher and Jacqueline Du Pre.
This was taken early Christmas Day, before warmer temps and rain melted the snow. The fog was rather heavy and made the landscapes look so interesting.

Several weeks of continuous frigid weather gave me time to get the ice and snow photos that I wanted. Getting to the waterfalls was my main wish. Fortunately some trails in parks like Taughannock are open throughout the year to make things easier.

After all the struggle that meant moving here and making a new life in this country, he had so much love for it that he promised to himself that he would never go out on the street a single day without showing that love somehow... And nothing like letting the flag warm up your neck in the cold winter days...

I'm growing tired of my winter photos and of the season itself. I had taken this the previous fall during a regional day trip. A bit of creative editing made for a good project.

With so much rain and even some snow, I had to see how the falls looked. I often wait a day or two for the water to run clear after storms. This time I didn't mind if the water was muddy and it was still a dismal day. Witnessing so much water flow was worth it.

I was in a hurry to get to work but snapped this sunrise photo before leaving. It was actually the best timing, the colors faded as the sky got brighter.

I had just gotten my photos of Carpenter Falls. While heading out the clouds caught my attention. The sunset was just colorful enough to make things interesting to me.

This wetland is on a seasonal road. I waited for the long winter to end and returned to take some photos. It was a dreary, rainy afternoon and I knew the mood would be great at this location.

A view through the early morning on the roads of Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan, in north West India. There are some vehicles out in the morning, such as this three wheeler auto-rickshaw, scooters, cycles and a number of people on the road. There are a number of trees on the road, with most of them full of greenery, and with a tree overhanging over the road, that is without any leaves on it. There are electric wires overhead all around the place, and with some vehicles parked on the sides. There are some vendors also moving their hand carts on the road.

I'm getting more used to using the new tool of an uktra wide-angle lens. I'll try to keep working in more shots with it. Places like Six Mile Creek Gorge become a playground for such things.

I went driving yesterday looking for an old fence line made of wood and barbed wire. Everything I found was made of boring t-posts; however, this lone tree caught my attention. It's still stripped naked from winter but about to bloom any day. When a tree is standing alone like this, you can better appreciate its individuality. The de-leafed limbs reveal their one-of-a-kind work of art against the backdrop of the sky.
This place was built in 1810 and remodeled in 1888. It is still used during the summers by the Barr family. The longevity is incredible.

When one sees the tree in leaf one thinks
the beauty of the tree is in its leaves,
and then one sees the bare tree. - Samuel Menashe
