A beautiful reflection of the Wave on a clear autumn afternoon, North Coyote Buttes, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona.
Those who have visited my photostream a time or two in the past have probably figured out that I absolutely love reflections, so imagine my happiness at finding a pool of water in the bottom of the Wave. Then I started thinking it was kind of cool that the "waves" here were not in the water at this moment, but in these wonderfully striated rocks surrounding the pool. I took a number of more Daliesque shots during this visit, but the simplicity of this image really works for me and I feel like it highlights some of the essence of the Wave's amazing form.
This image from a hiking and photography trip to southern Utah and northern Arizona this past fall with good friend Josh Krasner. Thanks for visiting.
Just a repost of one of my relfection picture taken in 2013 trip to Merritt.
Wish you a good day!
I love reflection even when there is not really mirror-like scene appearing on the reflecting surface.
This is one reflection I saw last year in Merritt BC
Wish all of you a great day!
Sometimes the most interesting scene and story are happening outside the frame of a picture.
On the lake side, there are 16 photographers pointing 16 cameras and lenses towards the same fishing boat (may be more than 16 since someone has more than one camera). The photographers have 200mm, 300mm, 400mm or even longer lenses. I am also one of the group. My lens is one of the shortest focal length which is 200mm. So I have to wait until the boat getting closer.
All the photographers are praying at the same time and wish the boat goes near the reflection in the lake. The fishing guys seem to hear our prayers and they did so. So the photographers are firing like the soldiers seeing their enemy in the battle field.
As I am one of the group and therefore I am not able to record this spectacular scene showing all the long guns and tripods.
I joined my photo club friends in a trip to Merritt shooting fall scenes in the past Thanksgiving weekend.
I hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving weekend too!

Personally, to me car shows are all about reflections. I love the oldest rust buckets, the first 'flivers' and pre-1960 models. I love reflections in chrome - bumpers, hubcaps, windows, anything reflective. This day was the first I devoted exclusively to using my 35mm lens. I think it worked well enough I'll do it again.
A Roomy Spirit
A day passed unnoticed, or so it seemed
tolerant of anonymity in hiding recollection
the sway of land unfolds as today is dreamed
indigently seeking hope's very own affection
within a sunbeam's throw of healthy sound
a special place for the moment to habitate
on firmer ground this life may yet be renowned
ready and able is the roomy spirit to dissertate
light, colour, land and sky become all and nothing
a semblance of momentary pride and joy
shade is the unforeseen and unwanted loathing
and light is the south-seeking dream to employ
all becomes me in the soul of all-consuming living
the self shadow of the mirror image of another
a spirit tantivy seeking within the one of giving
ultimately, truth states there can be no other
way to forgive the foregone conclusion of society
the "mad world" so coined for the foolish beings
rings true indeed, until our truer nature cleanses anxiety
our emotional hemispheres meet equatorial well-being
for the life-nuturing Sun of our nature shines brightest
when heartfelt extremes, poles apart, have been endured
those icy expeditions buried the ghost of even the slightest
inkling upon life's bookshelf for voluminous spirits reassured
to herald the plantation of plausible harvests of the mind
flourishing thoughts may bear fruit for dreams to be realised
a moment of reflection, shade, shadow, and light so refined
may mine the diamonds within a long-hidden soul we idealized.

For the Macro Mondays theme "My Daily Routine".
One of the things I do every day is taking a picture, often more then one . And I love reflections ;-))
As routine brings structure in our live, I thought it would be nice to capture some structure too. I found this : three little drops of water reflecting the gills or lamellae on the underside of the cap of a mushroom.
I love reflections, I try and find some that are a bit unusual. This one is of a pond in a park in Cupertino, CA.

Recently I went to the city of San Francisco to give a photo class. We walked along Embarcadero to learn various composition techniques. Here behind the Ferry Building I captured the Ferry Terminal through a puddle of water. I love reflection symmetry.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, carefully adjusted the curves, and added a warmwood filter to give the scene a cyan-greenish look.

I love reflections.
Colors are better in reflections. Shapes are better in reflections. Reflections are examples of things appeared to be larger than life.
This is the reflection I saw at Minoru Chapel this morning.
Have a good day! Sun comes back on Sunday in Vancouver! :o)
I love reflections so decided to play with the reflections in the birdbath this afternoon. This is one single bloom of Ornithogalum floating on the surface of the water. I like those little "ripples" where the petals meet the water. Yay! Surface tension!!!

I've used the phrase Covid Summer as the title of this shot, taken in August of 2020 as folks were beginning to emerge from isolation. I sometimes find it hard to believe that was four years ago. The puddle on the pedestrian part of Pier Ave. is from a summer rainstorm the day before.
I love reflections in my photography, and I position the camera as close to the water as I can above even small puddles to make them look like lakes.
Hermosa is one of my "homes" when I moved around the South Bay in my youth, renting apartments. I lived in the city from 1983-1987 in an apartment on PCH and 6th Streets.
