I love reflection photography and shooting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque at night gave me a lot of opportunities. The water pools surrounding the Mosque created some fascinating abstract mirrors of the refined architecture.

Magical Build thanks to Kynne Llewellyn ♥♥♥♥

This is from our trip to Alaska a few years ago. I was amazed by the wonderfully calm water, and I have always loved reflections.

Went over to Joe's garage a few days ago, and walked away with a bunch of new material. However, there were also some that were a wee bit odd, but maybe interesting...maybe? I've always said that photography is all about "seeing," and I still believe that, but maybe you can take seeing a little over the edge. And these three are, "maybe," good examples of that. Maybe it's just whimsy? The British Underworld shot is the under pinnings of an E Type Jaguar, and across the way, another Jaguar, but this an older XK120. And the "hard underbelly" of the Porsche is something I've never seen before, and it looks like it could float! Lastly, the blue sky and clouds are on the hood of another Jaguar in Joe's shop, a later generation XK150. His shop has some windows going around the top, and that is what the Jag is reflecting. So, you either love reflections on cars, or hate them, and I fall mostly into the latter category. So, love them, or hate them, but enjoy! BTW, I did get some of my more typical shots, and I'll be putting some up over the next few days. As always, thanks for looking, faving, and commenting!

I'm tired of winter already, so here is Herbert Lake in Canada on a beautiful but wildly changeable early Spring day.

I haven't been out much lately so posting a photo with some color from last fall. I absolutely love reflections and can never pass them up. Wood Duck taken at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, Alberta.

I love reflections and I thought that the chapel looked so pretty reflected in the water with the blue sky!

I just decided that from now on I also love reflections. Before last Saturday, I was looking for some, but I wouldn't have counted them among my primary photo motifs. I think that's different now.

I do love reflections and I find myself looking for them in the smallest of places. Like this one...hardly larger than my shoe, but it yielded some incredibly big feels.

This is one of the most wonderful Chinese classical music pieces. It describe the beautiful of magnificent mountains and the affectionate moving water,

It is a great piece which can resonate with our inner peace.

Happy Macro Monday

Title from the Christmas song by WHAM "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart

But the very next day, you gave it away

This year, to save me from tears

I'll give it to someone special"

Size of the items in the shot - the heart is exactly one inch at it's widest part and the glass ornament one and a half inches at its tallest.

Water rises, water falls

Reflections answer its wild calls

Sinking deep inside its arms

Kissing the lakes tender charms

Wild with passion, wild with love

Reflections descend from above

Answering sweet natures calls

Beauty rises, beauty falls

I love reflections, especially when they make complex abstract patterns. Waves, especially of this height and frequency, are ideal. You have both randomness and regularity, a wide range of colors, and just plain beauty.

FYI: When I shoot puddle reflections like this, I am usually holding my cell phone about an inch or less above the puddle. Most people have no idea what I'm doing but for this series of shots, a man came up to me and said, "Good eye! I'm a photographer. I love reflections!"
