Max lets his two old school GEs dig into the steep grade outside of Bayport as the train roars up hill, and back to Saint Paul. The sound of these two old school units was great as they roared and worked up hill, breaking silence of a cold October morning. This shot was a bit of a hike, but well worth it! That's HWY 95 in the background.
oooold one, but i had to upload it b/c i found this!

love it when i find little collage twins out there in the world.
it happened before too, with mary virginia carmack:
btw, notpaper blogged this incident (yay!):
It's just barely zero degrees out as a pair of KCS GP40-3's lead CPKC train YKK07-12, "Run 7", into the west end of CPKC's Knoche Yard on the North Main at Olive St. They're returning from the former MILW Coburg Yard near Sheffield with only two tank cars this morning.
They're completing an entire loop around town to get back into Knoche from Coburg. Most often when returning to Knoche, they'll shove back into the east end via West Wye-Air Line JCT, how they left originally, using a caboose as a shoving platform. On a day when the caboose isn't available, they make this circuitous route around downtown past Union Station and the West Bottoms and enter Knoche from the west. 1/13/24.
My oldest granddaughter had her first summertime job. She kept an eye on two precious young ones. They are her cousins and they live at Lake James. What a great summer job. She had a great time and the experience was wonderful. I made these images yesterday for her and the family.
(Pat if you see these, don't let C&M know - they are going to be gifts to them from Haley.)
Hope all of you have a great week - the summer in winding up fast !!! Smiles and hugs, Nana :) ! ♥

The props in the below images I bought Saturday at a local auction - I loved them - I bought several things to use - an old Radio Flyer wagon you will be seeing sometime soon. This old thermos was a favorite, too :) !~
The Bayport Job makes an appearance in its namesake town to serve Anderson Windows. The track in the foreground used to be used by the Milwaukee Road back in the day.

Steve Jobs and my dad are my heroes. Have been ever since I can remember the concept.
Having worked with Jobs in the tortured NeXT days, watching his beloved Apple flounder, I’m just glad that he was able to preside over Apple’s greatest moments, and chose to leave this time, knowing that he has secured symbolic immortality.
At the personal and corporate levels, it is the comeback story archetype turned hyperbole.
Remember the sentiment when he took the helm for the second time? The WIRED 1997 cover is a reminder.
What does his resignation mean? Who knows? Prognosticators should write their thoughts at this fascinating time to avoid the cloud of revisionist retrospection.
Apple is the exception to so many rules that we have to ascribe superhero status to Jobs.
On one hand, consumer hardware is a brutal business with more folly than franchise (Flip, Palm, etc.). Other than Apple, it’s hard to think of a consumer hardware company that you would have wanted to invest in for the long term. On the other hand, platform businesses can be milked for decades after any whisper of creative genius has long left the building. Witness Microsoft. Or perhaps there is a third hand. When we joined Apple, we all signed up to change the world. Perhaps the cult of Mac can flourish with another demagogue, if the board is wise enough to eschew the empty suits of Scully, Spindler, Amelio and Hancock. Perhaps Neo lies within.

With the marine layer of clouds hangin' tough on a Sunday morning my Conductor was sent to play brakeman (uTiLiTy) with the 0200 Pokey yard job (technically a local freight) after we brought our 9,000 foot, 40 tons over the notch 7 restriction Q down from Ranier. I told Jeff we were getting bagels when we got done but then this kinda fucked it up so I went to get bagels and then surprised him and Penny over at UP's Itasca Yard on the far east side of Superior. And then y'know, took a few photos in the process. These jobs regardless of their symbol are usually called the "Peg transfer" regardless of whether it's performing interchange with BNSF at 28th Street (NP-GN), CP at Stinson (SOO) or UP here at Itasca (CNW) in deference to this being a tradition Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific assignment.
Here Jeff Wolfe waits for the guys to pull past a line to clear into a track.
Winning scores:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
wlwlwldl: 97/100
-Cleanliness: 50/50
I believe he really did a great job applying these decals! The fin was a major plus, whether it was painted or decaled, it was done very very nicely, comparable to even Dutch's infamous fin decal application!
-Detail: 18/20
Based on the Clone Captain from EPII, I looked up a reference image of it. The only reason why he didn't get a solid 20/20 was because there were some red markings behind the helmet, which were not present on the fig. Things that really made this clone a winner was the tiny details, like the small square near the mouth of the helmet, very subtle but very effective details were put into it.
-Presentation: 10/10
Exactly what I want to see with the entries, the picture is a nice, high-quality, non-blurry picture that really shows off the custom!
-Design: 19/20
The templates used are similar to most templates, with the TLC leg design and a wrap-around arm design that is becoming a lot more widespread in use. For this portion of scoring, it's really the helmet decals that really took the cake! The visor decal is, in my opinion, the best part of the fig.

JPO97Studios: 93/100
-Cleanliness: 50/50
The decals on this fig were applied very nicely, all parts of the custom having even, non-crooked application. As always, JPO shows his skilled application through his Hardcase fig!
-Detail: 16/20
Based of of the Season 4 Hardcase, I looked back to my reference pictures taken of this clone. For the most part, JPO had his designs spot on, but points were docked because the details on the back of the helmet were not included. Another small detail that I was really glad to see though was that the line on the fin did not take up the entire space of the fin, as it leaves the edges of the fin white. Little details count!
-Presentation: 9/10
The only reason this isn't a 10/10 is that the background is white, therefore making the fig sort of blend in to the background. This sounds like a really picky statement, but when you think about it, designed or darker backgrounds really portray a contrast, making the fig and all its details stick out. Aside from that, the desired high-quality photo was produced!
-Design: 18/20
Small details overlooked on the template, for example, there are two blue lines over the visor, whereas in the show, there was only one line directly over the visor. Aside from that, the rest of the design is great, you can always tell a custom belongs to JPO from this signature torso design!

Xero_Fett: 90/100
-Cleanliness: If any of you have seen Xero_Fett's stuff, you'll notice that he is very good at applying decals, always getting the decals spot-on and as even as can be. This figure is no exception to that!
-Detail: 16/20
I couldn't give a solid 20 because this is another person's template, but credit was given. Score was bumped up a bit, however, because he added some details on the back of the helmet, making the fig more accurate to the actual clone!
-Presentation: 10/10
The unique background Xero_Fet uses always makes the fig stand out and really show off its colors! You are easily able to see the quality of the photo (huge image size!)!
-Design: 15/20
For those who used other peoples' decals, the score was usually automatically set to 15/20 under presentation and details (depending if the decals you used are accurate). I can't give a solid 20 for these categories, because the design is someone else's, but as stated in the rules if you use another's design, you have a bit of a lower chance at winning. Xero_Fett really managed to get a good score on this fig with his excellent application and presentation though!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd like to congratulate everyone who entered, there were some pretty close scores (a few of you got scores in the upper 80's)! If you didn't win this time, don't get discouraged! There'll be another contest hopefully in the spring, so you can try your skills again through there! To the winners, your excellent customs have earned the prizes, which will be shipped to you all within the next two weeks. Just let me know your addresses via FM and you're prizes will be shipped asap! Thanks to all who participated!
The IANR Oelwein job strolling thru Dewar, Iowa at a leisurely 10-15 mph. This is the old KC-Oelwein CGW mainline Dewar is the first town out from Waterloo, en-route to Oelwein. Not much here, but there is Kathy's Korner Bar, that Munger would approve of
The worst snow storm in decades is what they're calling it. All I know is this guy is gonna make a ton of money pulling fools outta ditches and stuff. Never fails. People do stupid things in the snow. Especially the ones with big SUVs. Forget the jokers with rear wheel drive. The 4WDers think they're invincible or something. Just wait. They'll call this guy. 800-WEE-TODD. Anways, I'mma hafta try to navigate this stuff tomorrow. Due to fed regs, I can't keep my business closed for more than three days in a row. Oh well. That's why I get paid the big bucks, right? NOT! :) Have a safe week ahead, folks! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
...on the iCloud.
I usually don't upload my iPhone 4 pictures even though I like how some of them come out. I took this one from the boat two Sundays ago and thought it would be an appropriate tribute to Steve Jobs.
"I hate my job"
Janitor the floor cleaner was cleaning the floor when... he spotted a pile of junk full of paper after shredder.
He is here for cleaning floor's, but not for cleaning pile of paper junk. And after all, he hate's that kind of cleaning job.
Know wonder why he hate's that kind of cleaning job... in his opinion way's.
Whenever I want to feel better about my life, I read Job. I'm not gonna try to paraphrase what happened to Job. Rather, I'll attempt to communicate the suckiness of his story through an exploration of a common curse word.
Job is the S**t
There is curse work in the english language that starts with an "s" and ends with a "t." This curse word is in a few common phrases like:
1. When she finds out, the s**t is gonna hit the fan.
2. That dude got the s**t kicked out of him.
3. Uh oh, she is in some deep s**t.
In those phrases, "s**t" is a negative thing. If you want to insult someone, express displeasure or describe a bad situation, "s**t" is your go-to word.
Here it is in a nutshell. The word "s**t" would feel insulted if someone called it "Job."
S**t, Job. You're old
One interesting thing about Job.... Even though it's in the middle of the Bible, most scholars say that is actually the oldest book. That means that almost all the people we've read about up to this point knew the story of Job. While I can't be positive about this next part (but you know I love to make wild speculations about the Bible), I'd bet that in the ancient Jewish culture they used "Job" in the same way we use "s**t." Three speculative examples:
1. You guys sold your brother into slavery and then lied and told your dad that an animal killed him? If your dad ever finds out, the Job is gonna hit the fan!
2. Dang, David! You kicked the Job out of Goliath!
3. Noah got drunk and did what?! He is in some deep Job.
I hope you're not expecting insight from me
Job is a dense and complicated book that raises a ton of questions about what God is like. My spiritual gift is sarcasm, not Biblical exegesis, so if you want to know more about Job, my pastor wrote a pretty good piece about it that I'd encourage you to check out.
