WC's Manitowoc Job passes over a moveable drawbridge at Menasha, WI. I recall having to be in Wisconsin early on this morning to attend traffic court as this FIB could have been speeding on a previous visit to the cheddar curtain. I ended up making a day of it around Neenah and Fond Du Lac. I remember stumbling around Neenah/Menasha as I chased this guy and had to visit Googlemaps to find this location recently to jog some memory cells!

1507 was a former Algoma Central unit that looked good in the WC dress.

I found a job figuring out the marginal internal rate of return for producing avocadoes. It's above the hurdle rate.

Toledo Peoria & Western's Fairbury Job is almost back home as a recently relocated Marquette Rail SD40-2 leads 25 Incrobasa hoppers out of Gilman through Forrest, IL. Pre 1991, the train would be thumping across the former Wabash NW main line between Chicago & Decatur.

The Antoine yard job is switching the west end of the yard and is pulling under the Milwaukee Road overpass on the line towards Iron River and Watersmeet. That's my two day old 10-speed sitting down by the crossing.

This Sulphur-Crested-Cockatoo was looking pretty proud of himself. He just finished his gutter cleaning job, and wanted me to take his picture.

A lonely job winging back snow off the short siding at Jordan, the end of the line for CN's Wales Branch that serves NSM's interchange location at Norshor Junction (around the curve in the distance). CN equips its ballast regulators for snow duty in the winter and dubs them "snow fighters." They work okay until snow starts to build up too much and a larger spreader needs to be called.

Guelph Junction Railways Job 2 with a lone 1620 hauls a heavy 7 cars up to the south end of Guelph. I'm standing on what I've heard call "Danger Crossing"(which I assume is due to the crossings terrible sight lines) on Concession Rd 11 and I recall 1620 somewhat struggling to get these cars up the hill here.

Today start my son (14 years old) his first job as a paperboy!!! How proud you can be .........

The last GTW painted SD40-2, along with a BLE SD38-3 lead train R924 (usually referred to as Job 24) west through Summit. This train makes a quick 4 mile run from Glenn to Argo and back Sunday-Friday.

edit: dear all, thank you for your friendly remarks - but this picture could also be called: "protect me from what a want"... the job interview was years ago and I was very disappointed when I got a negative answer. But a few weeks later I found a job which suited me a lot better... and when I saw this bicycle I was ever so glad that this is not my parking place...

Weaving its way through the neighborhoods of Roseville, MN one of the two former Green Bay & Western RS-27s on the Minnesota Commercial (and the only one operable), guides Job 19 back towards the railroads yard in St. Paul, MN. Having 316 on Job 19 is somewhat of an oddity, the normal assignment for the 56 year old Alco is Job 52. Job 19 normally sees one of the railroads General Electric Dash 7 locomotives.

The East LaSalle Job plans their moves before departing Kimball Yard with the morning work. Job briefings like this are part of the safe operating practices on NAPM.

Bring to the boil and then cook for about 15 to 20 minutes.*

Taste and season as it goes.

For extra thickness, I made a slurry of flour and cold water and gently added it during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Now allow to cool before eating or decanting.

If you want, use a stick blender and do your worst, but I recommend leaving a few bits intact for visual interest.

*After 15 minutes the sweet potato is done, and everything else has some crunch still. Cook for a bit longer if you prefer to have a softer bite.

15 minutes won't cost the earth in electricity!

Serve with a good chunk of bread.
