The Ramsey turn is westbound at Benny in May 1988. CP ran this job out of Cartier to collect logs/pulp as far west as Ramsey at the time. Usually a pair of SD40's were what I'd normally see on it but two big MLW's the 4721 and 4505 smoke it up on this day. Normally this job was out of Cartier in the morning which generally made for backlit shooting but on this day he was set back due to a steel gang working west of Benny. This was the fourth and last westbound I shot in about an hour in this general vicinity as they had backed up waiting for the work block to get over. The first three jobs were hot freights led by big SD's so they saved the best for last and the hogger really has the BIGS screaming as the head west hot on the block of the other westbounds. A rescan.
As one job finishes a cut, another job starts a new cut out. Three unit sets of second generation EMD's are used by CN to power heavy cuts of general merchandise cars to be humped and sorted at the old EJ&E Kirk yard. The sets today include SD40Q rebuilds, SD40-3 rebuilds, GTW 5936, the last SD40-2 in blue paint, and, appropriately, EJ&E SD38-2's.

The high-seniority crew of the Camden Job works Alliance Steel on the Camden Branch. This humble branch once served as the SOO's connection to Union Station, the Milwaukee Road, and other area railroads. When this photo was taken in 2010, the job ran weekdays out of Humbolt, and often ran with SOO power. Nowadays, the branch is switched every third day with rumors circulating about several key customers relocating or closing.
"This was a very typical time. I was single. All you needed was a cup of tea, a light, and your stereo, you know, and that’s what I had." Steve Jobs

Conductors from 27E and WOGR hold a job briefing to plan out the moves between trains and swap paperwork.
The Pickens Railroad Belton Job, which is now running as the Honea Path Job, heads south to service a customer at the south end of the line as it passes the scrap yard in Docheno. 8-7-20
The Southern Railway of British Columbia's "Docks Job" backs slowly along Timberland Road, in the run down neighborhood of Brownsville, BC. The conductor and brakeman are at the rear of the train, riding the caboose, and preparing to protect the numerous crossings the line crosses over. In the foreground is the diamond where CN's Brownsville spur crosses the SRY's spur to the Fraser Surrey Docks, where the bulk of this job's switching is done. The switch between the diamond, and lead locomotive is one of two for the busy Arrow Reload terminal, which transloads centerbeam flats of lumber to trucks for final drayage to port, or destinations in the city.
The 129 is a GP9 which started life as Frisco GP7 #318, before ending up on the CNW and being rebuilt to GP9 standards. From there it joined the roster of the newly founded Montana Rail Link, before finally being transferred to the SRY, at the time a fellow Washington Group corporation to MRL. With the last of the MRL GP9's being taken out of service this past week, it seemed appropriate to showcase one of their surviving siblings still earning its keep.

One still extant piece of industrial trackage in Syracuse is the First Ward line along Hiawatha Boulevard on the city's north side, although the crossing of 7th North Street into the old Crouse-Hinds complex was recently removed. A local crew with a GP35 slug and GP40-2 power unit bring a car around the line on a fall morning in 2015.

This is very uncommon for the engine to be SHF leaving, they always come SHF and leave LHF, and more later in the day...
Shoutout to my boy Vicente with the tipoff.....
After a disappointing afternoon at Kynance Cove there was still a chance that I could save the day with the anticipation of a sunset. Using relevant apps on my phone, I chose my location looking towards Asparagus islands from near the carpark. To cut a long story short, with 30 minutes to go it was going to happen so packed up the gear and homeward bound. As I approached RNAS Culdrose I looked left to see the sky turning Orange and the sun glowing in its glory. So quick decision and Church Cove here I come!
With minutes to spare slipping on the wet rocks I managed to capture a few images. Not the best composition but hey, I got a sunset
Minnesota Commercial's Hennepin Job heads out of the MNNR yard for a day's work. It's unfortunate that this classic and rare Alco is sidelined today, stored out of service.

Bob, Chris, Will, and Trainmaster Pam were all on the CP local job this afternoon. On the list was picking up UPY 3005 & UPY Slug 3006, and these DM&E cars. The mother-slug came from Relco off the ANPC transfer track. Moravia, IA 6/19/2015.
Plying the rails of Union Pacific’s former Ord Branch, Nebraska Central’s Ord Job plods east along the bank of the North Loup River near Scotia, NE. Headed back to Grand Island, the train only remaining work the train has is a customer on the north side of St. Paul, twenty or so miles further down the railroad.
A shot of the City job from back before the leaves came out. The train is just rolling out onto the bridge that crosses the Red River of the North at Grand Forks. The pair of GP's are usually working switching the yard in GF but sometimes get assigned to this job. No, that isn't me in the photo, I was on the Minnesota side waiting for the train.
The CN 1600 Job backs up on to the tracks leading up to many of Hamiltons finest industries, by the Hamilton Port. Seen leading Long Hood Forward is GTW 5849 being operated by Beltpack, meaning there’s a remote control strapped to the conductors waist, and he can control the movement of the train, and the horn and bell etc.
CP 4008 was in charge of the Camden job yesterday and honestly I can't think of any better CP power to lead it right now. The crew was very friendly and this former MILW GP 40 looked and sounded great in Minneapolis.
