This was just a quick picture I took with my iPhone 13 Pro Max, as I was walking back to my hotel room after performing at The Chicago Blues Festival 2023.

We came across this old fashioned public school as we were driving to a local supermarket whilst on a short break away with my in laws.

Hurry up!

Then before we know it that tree will be full of conkers by September.

We’re having a period a rain at the moment; it gets in the way of outdoor activities!

The peace and calm before the storm

Not long after me and the dogs were out on a walk, and I took this photo, Storm Arwen came rolling in with freezing cold high winds and snow.

Some people have lost power, and some trucks are stuck in snow.

Fortunately, the only problem we’ve had is a break in the satellite signal… so no TV last night - not tried it today.

I’ve done a recce around our place and we just had a wheelbarrow blown over. We’re very lucky.

Stay safe everyone!

Happy Lancashire day 🌹🌹

The iconic Somerset Collection in Troy, MI. Eight miles north of Detroit on West Big Beaver Rd (don’t ask because I do not know how that name came about). A dual suburban mall with a two level centre on the south side of 16 Mile Rd (AKA Big Beaver) and a three level centre on the north side with shoppes i.e. Macy’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue along with Tiffany’s, Fossil, Starbucks, Swarovski, and a few local shoppes from Detroit AND a Tesla store, and my favourite, The Apple Store. My iPhone was on a fritz, and I had to get it settled, once I did, I began shooting around (discreetly)!

The view from our cottage

We’ve just started a two centres and two week holiday. The first week is in a cottage in Rothbury, Northumberland, England; the second week will be in a cottage near Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland.

This is the beautiful sunset on our first night in Rothbury.

When the spent sun throws up its rays on cloud

And goes down burning into the gulf below,

No voice in nature is heard to cry aloud

At what has happened. Birds, at least must know

It is the change to darkness in the sky.

Murmuring something quiet in her breast,

One bird begins to close a faded eye;

Or overtaken too far from his nest,

Hurrying low above the grove, some waif

Swoops just in time to his remembered tree.

At most he thinks or twitters softly, 'Safe!

Now let the night be dark for all of me.

Let the night be too dark for me to see

Into the future. Let what will be, be.

Despite being March the weather has still got the ability to bite back and here the frosty night has left its mark on the gate of the footpath around the lake.

Quite like the zig zag of the gate and fencing leading you in.

FLOWER - GATHERING

I left you in the morning,

And in the morning glow,

You walked a way beside me

To make me sad to go.

Do you know me in the gloaming,

Gaunt and dusty grey with roaming?

Are you dumb because you know me not,

Or dumb because you know?

All for me? And not a question

For the faded flowers gay

That could take me from beside you

For the ages of a day?

They are yours, and be the measure

Of their worth for you to treasure,

The measure of the little while

That I’ve been long away.

A free grazing pig at the Bleakholt animal sanctuary.

It’s belly isn’t too far from the ground.

The pig wasn’t at all distracted by mere humans, not even ones that tried to call it over 😃 Instead he just continued munching like a good un!

I’ve not seen a black and white one before, I assumed they were pink.

Yesterday I popped into the ironmongers and asked if they had any jubilee clips…

THE MASTER SPEED

No speed of wind or water rushing by

But you have speed far greater. You can climb

Back up a stream of radiance to the sky,

And back through history up the stream of time.

And you were given this swiftness, not for haste

Nor chiefly that you may go where you will,

But in the rush of everything to waste,

That you may have the power of standing still—

Off any still or moving thing you say.

Two such as you with such a master speed

Cannot be parted nor be swept away

From one another once you are agreed

That life is only life forevermore

Together wing to wing and oar to oar.

What is not to like, this is Wells Beach with the famous huts some worth more that £90,000 each plus fees and maintenance. Probably very cheap compared with Bournemouth but you cannot stay in them overnight or live in them. But makes for a lovely photo on a nice day and the sky was perfect.

For those fellow ToGs who have not had the pleasure of visiting Wells Beach it is a beautiful location and you can walk for miles, however you must keep an eye on the tides as they can come in quicker that you can !!
