The Istiqlal Mosque (yes, those are people on the floor . view large)
Istiqlal Mosque, located in Jakarta, Indonesia, stands as the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the ninth largest worldwide in terms of its capacity for worshippers.
Its name, "Istiqlal," is Arabic for "independence," reflecting its construction as a commemoration of Indonesian independence. This national mosque of Indonesia officially opened its doors to the public on February 22, 1978.
Notably, within Jakarta, the mosque occupies a significant location adjacent to Merdeka Square, the Catholic Jakarta Cathedral, and the Reformed Immanuel Church, symbolizing a degree of interfaith harmony.

In the trees, munching away
They seem to get braver, and come closer. Which we like. Sometimes they just seem to watch us, or just stare at us. They’re comical.

Preston North End FC
Last night I was at Preston North End FC’s stadium to watch Burnley.
I’ve got to say that there was a magnificent tribute…Firstly with a one minute silence for the Queen, which was very moving; then the British opera singer, Russell Watson, sang ‘God save the King’, The crowd joined in.
Again, it was very moving.
There was also a 1 minute applause during the game for a 19yo PNE fan, Alex Tyson, that recently lost his life.
We dominated the game, but just came away with a point, after the 1-1 draw.
5,500 Clarets made the journey for this derby game.

Happy fence Friday !
Fortunately it’s not my fence to mend, but it is in need of repairing. It belongs to Lancashire county council so I doubt it’ll even be looked at anytime soon.
Have a great day!

One of the world’s best beaches. Bar none. I’ve been to a lot of beaches around the globe, and Australia has some really good ones. Everything here resembles SoCal (Southern California) as well as parts of Florida (which I’ve yet to visit). Like any other beach around the globe, this one has a lot to offer, skating, rollerblading, swimming, surfing, and plenty of shoppes to check out. Only major thing that’s different is that people drive on the opposite side of the road with the steering wheels on the right side of the dashboard. That was a major challenge! But I made it through. And BTW, Bondi is pronounced “bond-eye”. It’s been well over six months and I’m missing Australia already.
…doing maintenance work on your bikes
Tuesday was such a day for me. I’m hoping to make time to go out on my mountain bike soon.
It’s a great ride.

NOW CLOSE THE WINDOWS
Now close the windows and hush all the fields:
If the trees must, let them silently toss;
No bird is singing now, and if there is,
Be it my loss.
It will be long ere the marshes resume,
I will be long ere the earliest bird:
So close the windows and not hear the wind,
But see all wind-stirred.

As always, my ulterior motive is to get some of the best angular shots on the taxiway of the tarmac. Gotta love the iOS filters! This particular day I was commissioned to remove the trash from an international flight for the cleaning crew and the next caterers to prepare for the next international flight.

… from our holidays
I took this photo on our way home, through the scenic route. We had no reason to rush home when we can enjoy the journey.
This is just over the border in Scotland on the B6357, near to Newcastleton and Copshaw Holm.
We arrived safely back home to Lancashire to beautiful sunshine.
