Made from two images, the character is from Venice, Italy, and the background from Grado, Italy. Edited in PS Elements.
First real effort in Corel's "Painter IX.5" software.
This was not "automatic" painting ( a feature the software has).
Each brush stroke was applied by hand, over an ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH. ( Click blue link to see photo.)
The original photo is no longer part of the image you see, as that layer was subsequently removed.
Canvas texture and signature added in "Paint Shop Pro X."
The brush strokes and areas where I became impatient to finish are more easily seen in the LARGE SIZE.
Many thanks to Matuko Amini for her encouragement and great "tip" on how to begin.
Check out her "digital painting" sets --- just click on her name, above.
A stiched compound image, composed of 6 individual exposures. This only worked because the pipefish was not moving, even when I was pretty close with my camera. Also, this is such an elongated animal!
Joseph Beyeus version - with a digital mosaic as the background. Is this still photography? Certainly it's art.
Moleskine sketches and Photoshop. The background is a collaged photoshop illustration using textures and filters (not a photo).
Another fantastical Amazing Circle bubble with geese.

I Am using the basic wondrous polar coordinates transformations as beautiful in and of themselves, but also as starting points for grounding them in their origins and/or creating new relationships for them.
Long exposure motion play using a few peacock feathers in a vase, backlit with a late afternoon sky through a large west northwest window.
When I have sat here at the screen working up assorted earlier images, I sometimes just get restless and want to walk, move around, look at something new... that's when I go for a stroll and open a slow shutter on something.
Photoshop Phollows.
While out mowing the leaves today(I have a mulching mower which makes fall leaves a great deal easier than blowing or raking and bagging) I was struck at the variety of textures and colors and lines...so I stopped and went and got the camera and did a few portraits.

Winter Games next month. Ski Jumping, something I did as a youngster, on backyard hills, the park in our backyard and the slalom hills. Never did go off the biggies. Couple of brothers did though, one was real good, almost made it to the Olympics. Still one of my favorite winter sports.

Maverick? Maybe that's the poor man's Marlboro. But, perhaps they need to up the price and aim for McCain fans. ("Be like your presidential candidate, be a maverick!") Just guessing.
And, just messing around here -- what the heck, it's only pixels.
This is another variation on a photo taken in my Mom's garden late Saturday afternoon, Oct 28, 2006. Various layer and layer blending modes were used to explore a few other treatments, then exported as a new document, helping keep file size down on the original layered photoshop file.
"If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing."
Wonder what will happen to critics then. :))
All elements created in photoshop on the lips image.
