One of the functions of landscape is to correspond to, nurture, and provoke exploration of the landscape of the imagination. Space to walk is also space to think, and I think that's one thing landscapes give us: places to think longer, more uninterrupted thoughts or thoughts to a rhythm other than the staccato of navigating the city.

"...Ich bin wie das Ruhrgebiet. Ich bin ein Schmelztiegel, in dem sich alles auflöst und zu etwas Neuem wird... Ich war so dumm, das zuzulassen. Ich, der ich sonst ganz sicher ein anderer geworden wäre... Vielleicht beantworten meine Worte Deine unausgesprochene Frage, warum Du mich so oft an solchen Orten finden kannst.“

May 2012, when this was shot, the new Maasvlakte II harbour was still in development.
So another picture without people. I have no idea what's happening to me! Today was a cold, crisp but sunny Autumn day in Nottingham so I took advantage and had a stroll along the River Trent. Just over a mile from my house, it's a beautiful area to explore.
Another outing for the Sigma f1.8 wide angle. It's a wonderful lens.

In 2013 the construction of the infrastructure of the new Maasvlakte II harbour was still in full swing. Here a snow storm was approaching.

Looking toward the Neues Schloss in Stuttgart, Germany.
Schlossplatz is the largest square in Stuttgart Mitte and home to the Neues Schloss (background) which was built between 1746 and 1807. From its construction until the mid-1800s it was used as a military parade ground and not open to general public use.[1] It stands next to two other popular squares in Stuttgart: Karlsplatz to the south and Schillerplatz to the south west. The Königstraße (King Street) bisects the plaza from north to south. The Neues Schloss Palace and grounds have been public property since 1918.
Sunset over Ballygalley Bay in County Antrim. Ballygalley (population 821) is a resort village on the Antrim Coast Road.
Because it sounds so much better than "pond scum". From a series of photos of what I call Primordial Soup, all of them shot around the San Francisco Bay Area in tide pools, ponds, wetlands, and maybe even one or two from fountains.
