OPL Focasport II
Dans cette série II, les objectifs sont désormais à quatre lentilles (contre trois précédemment). Il s'agit d'un OPLAR. Les objectifs des II ont une bague crénelée.
Début de fabrication : 1957
The colossal granite statue of Ramesses II in the first courtyard of the temple at Karnak. Thought to have been built c.1279-1213 B.C. A Statue possibly of Ramesses II daughter Bent'anta, stands in front of the legs.
The king stands, arms crossed, holding the crook and flail (symbols of kingship). He wears the nemes headdress with a "double crown" and the short shendyt kilt. At his feet, princess Bent'anta stands, wearing a crown of ureai topped with double plumes. In the hand folded across her chest she holds a flower. Although she is portrayed as an adult, her figure is significantly smaller than that of her father. This reflects not her actual size, but the difference in status between a king and a princess.
Mercury II (Model CX) c1945. Similar to Mercury CC but for 65 exposures on standard 35mm film. 35mm Universal f3.5 Tricor or f2.7 Tricor or a f2.0 Hexar lenses. Rotating focal-plane shutter 1/20-1/1000.
Universal, Mercury II half frame 35mm camera, c1945The Mercury was made in USA from cast aluminum and not finished in any way, they are consequently prone to oxidation - particularly if they have ever been anywhere near the sea. The beginning of this process can be seen on this example, along with blistering under the 'leather' covering. This is a very distinctive and handsome camera, although I've seen it described as "odd". The housing on the top of the camera is for the rotary shutter blades, the shutter speed being altered by changing the gap between the two blades - it is not simply a disc with a hole in it. Speeds of 1000th sec are possible. The camera is half frame 35mm, dictated by the rotary shutter, the camera would otherwise have been too large. It does, however, give a very useful 65 frames out of one roll of 35mm film and the shutter is extremely smooth.

'Twin Screw Steamer' Queen Mary II was actually the first 'Queen Mary' in the 20th century to carry that name but the other, more well known, liner that was built in the same year of 1933, claimed the name.
Mr Heyl had perused the Scottish Rail timetable on our 1975 rover and found a Clyde cruise that we were valid on with our 'Rover' tickets' so we had a day off the rails (literally) and on the p*ss. The gent on the left was a BR/Calmac employee on a day off who spent the afternoon with us.
Kempsville Recreation Center, located just off Princess Anne Road, originally opened in 1977 as Virginia Beach's first community recreation center. The new Kempsville Recreation Center opened in June 2017 and is an 87,116 square foot state-of-the-art facility that has a double gymnasium, an indoor pool and water play components with zero-depth entry, indoor track, fitness center, six-lane lap pool, as well as several multipurpose rooms and early childhood classrooms. The new site also features improved parking and pedestrian access.

Pershing-II
The Pershing-II and SS-20 missiles exhibited here are two more than 2600 nuclear missiles banned by the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, which was signed by the United States and the Soviet Union in December 1987. The INF Treaty represents a milestone in the effort to control nuclear arms. It is the first international agreement to eliminate an entire class of nuclear weapons - those having a range of 500 to 5500 km (300 to 3400 miles). The US Pershing-II and Soviet SS-20 regarded as the most threatening missiles in this class.
Testing out a 1938 Robot II that I got for free after helping to clean and organize a defunct photo store's mounds of display cameras. Scale focus might be off a bit, I think? Probably needs some tinkering and lubricating, likely sat forgotten as a not-for-sale item for decades.

Kurokami Black Hair
There is a traditional Gion Kouta song which I have titled this kimono after:
It is the pillow
We shared that night,
When I let down
My jet-black hair.
That is the cause of my lament
When I sleep alone
With my single robe
To cover me.
'You are mine,' he said,
Not knowing the heart
Of a simple girl.
The voice of a temple bell,
Sounds into the quiet night.
Awakening from an empty dream
In the morning,
How lovely, sweet,
And helpless is my longing.
Before I know it The silver snow has piled up.
Kurokami is a dance/song traditionally performed by geisha. This kimono was made as a hikizuri so it could be worn for a geisha cosplay and it's deep black colour reminded me of that song. So that's where the name comes from.
This kimono is also a kurotomesode. Kurotomesode are typically worn by married women, but they are also worn by fully fledged geisha. Basically, geisha are considered to be women who have reached marrying age, but have refused to marry.

The tomb of Edward II, ancester of Henry VIII. His presence may explain why Gloucester Abbey survived the dissolution of the monasteries and became Gloucester Cathedral.

Lome sa svih strana i oluja se približava.

Etta Jeanne II
"Flying ace Huie Lamb was stationed at Duxford Air Base in the same timeframe as his friend Bill Spengler, the pilot of the original Buzzin’ Cuzzin. Huie was in the 82nd Fighter Squadron, while Bill was in the 83rd.
Huie flew P-47 missions for several months, but was assigned a P-51 in late 1944, and named it Etta Jeanne after his little sister back in Texas. On Huie’s very first mission in Etta Jeanne he had mechanical problems and had to ditch in the North Sea, miraculously surviving.
He named his second P-51 “Etta Jeanne II” and flew it until the end of the war.
Huie believes teamwork is everything; this coupled with his flying skills helped him achieve ace status in the 78th Fighter Group with numerous kills including an ME 262 (German jet).
In September 2013, Huie visited Duxford Air Base with Robert and Marcy Garriott, sharing his stories with the staff and historians of the Imperial War Museum. After his return, he shared with the museum the many photographs he had taken during the war and saved for 70 years.
The extraordinary stories of Huie’s wartime adventures and his trip to Duxford can be downloaded HERE (15 MB PDF document).
Today Huie lives in Austin TX with his wife Doris. He accompanies Robert frequently in Buzzin’ Cuzzin, and still has a great love for aerobatic maneuvers!
In October 2014 Huie returned to Duxford for a very special event. The American Air Museum, a part of IWM-Duxford that was founded in 1997, has long been missing an actual P51 among its many exhibited aircraft. On October 30, the AAM and IWM unveiled a newly restored P-51 that will be placed in the museum for exhibit in late 2015. This P-51 was restored and painted to match Huie’s beloved Etta Jeanne II!
