He was hungry today and very active hunting. He almost caught something right in front of us, but came off the ground empty. Here he's pratrolling and hasn't seen anything.
2.15.11 Hunting
So I’ve been sending out resumes for the past week now and it seems like employers don’t want to pay anything??! God, is it really that hard to find a decent paying job? If anyone knows of anyplace then please get a hold of me.
House hunting is also a never ending process…I search for houses, go look at house, I like h...ouse , I want to place a bid on house and what happens??? It’s pending!?! I guess I’m not quick enough or maybe I need someone working on the inside…...GRRRR
The hunting season has started in the surrounding forests but this elk is smart and stays in the city for a while.
Had my spring turkey hunting tag for this week, which is always a fun event. My dad already got his turkey on Wednesday (opening day) so he was dedicated to calling in the turkeys for me.
The weather was a bit uncooperative, however. We put the tent up (right side) while it was snowing (yes, in mid-April). It was also so windy, it was difficult to hear any responses to calls. Note the 2 decoys, the hen and the custom jake (young male) displaying.
Despite the difficulty with the wind, my dad expertly was able to call in 2 jakes, who were interested in the hen decoy as well as hanging out with the jake decoy. Bad news: shooting from inside the tent, I completely shot over the one I could see, missing him, and deafening both of us in the tent. Turkeys 1, Matt 0.

Chased this little guy around for nearly thirty minutes before he scampered back to his hole.

Flori the lurcher hunting the hedgerows near Guestling Wood, East Sussex, early on a cold and frosty winter morning.
This was when we were trekking into uncharted territory. This is where you do not want to run into anyone else, because they are most likely guerillas that do not take too kindly to Americans. In all reality they are a group of ignorant children with guns, manipulated and brainwashed into somehow combining mamings, kidnapping, and murder into a political agenda in which they are actually doing a service by destroying the same people they claim to be protecting.
I know, makes no sense, welcome to the jungle :/...This trip was soo much fun though, we went night hunting and lived up in hammocks, high in the trees.
