Tomtom Coffee House is a great little coffee shop a ten minute walk from our hotel. I've never actually seen a shop make even the hot chocolate look so pretty.
The next day, I went back on my own (Peg was tennis-watching) and had eggs Benedict on an English muffin, and it was fairly well amazing, as was the filter coffee. (Honestly, I think it was the best coffee I've ever had.)
It was fun running a few drops down the side of an empty hot chocolate glass this morning.

Decadent hot chocolate at Hahndorf's in Surrey Hills, served with a complimentary handmade truffle in their covered, heated courtyard at the back. Perfect for chasing away the Winter blues!

Hot chocolate (with optional frog), $2.80
Hahndorf's Fine Chocolates, Elwood
Hahndorf's German chocolate making traditions have certainly extended to their hot-chocolate making. Our glass of liquid bliss was carefully prepared using a handmade chocolate frog (optional) that was slowly melted with hot milk and topped with a frothy mound of chocolate shavings. For choc-coffee addicts, Hahndorf's contemporary take on the mocha (or chocolatte) is equally splendid. Both include a complimentary, handmade chocolate cream or truffle of your choice. - Liz Cincotta
Seems like every foodie out on the interweb is all about the marshmallows this season.
I know why now!
Check out the blog for the recipe. :)
I poured this for myself last night. I'm still at novice at using the Synesso's steam wands and kinda screwed up the texture but still managed a decent-ish pour, made flickr-worthy through low lighting.
a belated merry christmas, my flickr friends! sorry, I disappeared up north for a bit.
This is not the best shot I took, but god knows it's not the worst. (srsly, how do I take so many crappy shots?). We went to the IL's, and had the most EXCITING christmas EVAH! Srsly. SANTA showed up at our house. Miss A heard him snoring. And then drove north to a houseful of aunts, uncles and COUSINS. and TOYS. and then over to Auntie Suzanne's house. Where sleep was, of course, out of the question. And then studio portraits with all 14 grandchildren. Followed by starbuck's with our favoritest age-appropriate cousin, Miss V. Hot chocolate. And blind (exhausted) stares. Sledding in the afternoon, homemade pizza for dinner. Home this afternoon.
I'm lucky to have married into the best family ever.
