It was a stay-in-your-jammies kind of day. I made my own hot chocolate.
The yahoo did not approve. He obviously has succumbed to the lure of the evil Swiss Miss.
That's okay. More for me.
The recipe was found in the latest copy of 'Where Women Cook'
2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cayenne pepper (I left this out cause I thought someone else would be unhappy with it)
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp sea salt
2 tblspns of cocoa in 1 cup of milk (I used water and it was absolutely delicious)
....add marshmallows to your heart's content (says me)
70% cacao dark chocolate shell with a cherry-chili and truffle filling . . .
sweet and has a hot bite

The makings of some hot chocolate on Thursday afternoon. It was partly a test set-up using my the light I got for Christmas; I meant to have Steve make me hot chocolate that evening and take more pictures. However, after burgers for dinner at SouthEnd, I wasn't hungry enough for hot chocolate later.
The first winter precipitaton of the year, celebrated with a nice cup of hot chocolate w/ marshmallows
First hot cocoa of the season + homemade whipped cream….ohh, and a cinnamon stick thrown in for good measure….ohhh, and extra sprinkled cinnamon on top because, well, never enough cinnamon!😋

For 52 Weeks for Dogs -- 48/52
This past week and weekend have been really busy. One of the things that happened was that we got a new couch, since the old one was still here from when we first got married. Not having a couch for one night was a traumatic experience for the dogs. Once we got the new one in, the floor became lava and they have spent the rest of the weekend recovering, staying warm and breaking in the new couch!

I had this printed (by printfection.com) onto a t-shirt that I wear as pajamas. I think I might like to see it in the new kitchen, too, along with my mama hen and her peckish little chicks.

It's been a cold, snowy week here in the Pacific Northwest. I thought it would be fun to see if I could capture steam rising from a mug of hot chocolate. Not as easy as it seems! After several failed attempts, I resorted to PSE 10 to get the look I was going for.

Happy winter and may all your cold days produce warm memories.
