Aside from homemade granola being one of my favorite breakfast foods, this nutritious snack aids in fueling my body as I'm currently training for a half marathon. I love munching on granola after a workout or adding it to yogurt with fresh berries for a quick breakfast. Kids also go gaga over this recipe so whenever I have my young cousins around I much prefer offering them granola with milk as opposed to sugary cereals. It's time to get your "snack on".
my successful attempt at creating my own twisted cord for trim and the tools I used to do it (yes, that is part of a hand mixer!)

Rumtopf is also known by a couple different names such as, Bachelor’s Jam or Boozy Fruit, while a version using Brandy is sometimes called Tutti Frutti or Brandied Fruit. All versions are the same principle. It is basically sugared fruits, covered in alcohol and left to ferment and be enjoyed at the Holidays. It is a way to capture the flavors of summer and heat you up on the inside during the cold Winter months.
In this case, rump-jars filled with an assorted fruit, cut to bite-size, covered with organic cane sugar and dark rum.
It needs about 3-5 months to properly cure.
Cooked by son of 11-yr-old. Seems he can survive himself but hope next time would be in the camp.

Homemade Banana Pudding
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 egg yolks
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box Nilla wafers
5 bananas, sliced
MIX 3/4 cup sugar, flour and salt in a saucepan over low/medium heat. Blend in 3 egg yolks and milk. Cook, uncovered until thickened, stirring constantly with a wisk. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
In a bowl or pan, place one layer of nilla wafers, then cover nilla wafers with sliced bananas. Cover bananas with nilla wafers. Pour some of the custard mixture over the layers. Then do another banana layer, following with a nilla wafer layer. Repeat. Pour more custard over the layers. Be sure that when you're done, Nilla wafers should be the last layer. Use all of your custard for this recipe.
Refrigerate at least one hour before eating. I prefer mine overnight.
Can be served warm, but I like mine served cold. When serving you can top the banana pudding with Redi Whip or Cool Whip.
