I mixed isoprophyl alcohol with cheapo ancient powder dyes for the green, purple, blue and orange. The yellow and turquoise are alcohol and acrylic paint.
I'm guessing the colors would be stronger if I used new dye powders instead of crusty ones that have been hanging around for 20 years. They are still fun!

This is the tool Jim helped me make to produce the circles in the background of the encaustic wax in the previous image.
I heated the nails then used it to melt circles of circles in the black wax background.
Those were then filled with green wax which was later scraped back.
Sourdough crusts; the one in the left front is a simple mozz and crushed tomatoes pizza finished with parm and oregano, the one in the back right is garlic butter and olive oil with rosemary with just a touch of mozz.
They turned out great! Megen and I had tried this once before but this time we did everything from scratch (including the sauce).

I got two packs of vanilla beans from www.beanilla.com and I'll be using them primarily to make some homemade vanilla extract (as I read about here: chocolateandzucchini.com/archives/2009/02/homemade_vanill.... You can choose where the beans come from, so I got 10 Tonga and 10 Bourbon beans (not knowing much about what the differences are). I got 20 beans, shipped, for what I would have gotten about 6 for at the grocery store, and I'm willing to bet these are better quality. I'll also be using them to make vanilla sugar and some kick-ass vanilla ice cream. Excited!

Ghetto homemade light table!
I think I could have made the hole bigger. I was worried about sagging. It turns out that the flash on 1/64 power is so bright the paper and tape completely blow out, so sagging probably wouldn't matter either.

DIY, baby! I pulled down the picture showing myself using it, because I hate having my picture online. Yeah, sue me.
Shoebox w/ flash head cutout, aluminum foil tape covering the inside, and two layers of nylon sheeting from home depot. The flash sticks about 1/2"-1" into the interior.
$12 of Home Depot materials, and I've got enough left over to make another 5-10 (maybe 15) of these.
The camera i've built using Fish-Eye-Takumar 18mm f:11, Agfa Jsolette body and Copal #0 press shutter. Takes circular pictures using 120 film.
