Dinner: Since Rika chips in to cook meals more often during her school vacation, our food on the table is more varied and versatile now than before.
I experimented in the kitchen again and actually this came out tasting great. I stir fried stewing beef, bell pepper, yellow onion, jalapeno, carrots, peas, broccoli, corn, green beans, and a slew of spices in a mixture of a 1/4 cupof pepper sauce and 1 cup of diet pepsi and a little soy sauce - I cooked it down it was thcik and served it with white rice.
I watch too much of Iron Chef!
My Version:
Recipe:
Stir-fried Vegetables
Ingredients:
400 g cabbage – wash and cut
1 carrot – peels and cuts into flat thin slices
1½ tablespoon dried shrimps- wash and chop
4 cloves garlic
½ tbsp fish sauce
Salt, pepper, black pepper and ajinomoto to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
Method:
1. Stir-fried chopped dried shrimps and garlic in olive oil until fragrant, add in pepper, black pepper and mix well.
2. Add in the cabbage, fish sauce and stir- fry for a while, add in carrot, a little salt and ajinomoto, stir-fry till vegetables sweat and just cooked through.
Notes: Different brand of fish sauce varies in salt content, taste your food before adding salt.

Here's a brownie/cookie I made that I just de-panned -- it's basically brownies with a butter cookie crust. I'll cut them up into squares later.
I'm making these as a giveaway snack item for Brandon's table at APE. Limited supply, so if you want one, you better come to the Expo early (Oh, and buy some stuff while you're at it!).

I cooked this tonight, which is why it doesn't look like much. Well, presentation isn't everything; it was rather tasty. This is enough for 2, so both you and I will be pleased I didn't eat it all. It's from Nigel Slater's cookbook.
ok i have no idea why this dish is called that.. but if someone knows, please let me know.. it has allspice, garlic, pepper and salt in the meat.. onions, red pepper, bay leaves, lots of mushrooms in a broth of red wine and beef stock over egg noodles.. it was quite yummy and a dish my mom made often..( we are of polish/canuck descent, so see my confusion?)
After returning to Philly, Josh made us some (deeelicious) dinner and we watched a movie. He roasted chicken with carrots, onion, lemon and garlic. There are some mashed potatoes on the plate too. The kind with skins mashed into them. So yummy..
He was cooking while I was doing Day 15 of The Shred. The aromas wafting into the living room from the kitchen made working out pretty unbearable.

Although Christmas 2009 may not have be as eventful for me as it is for you, don't worry - I got my holiday cheer on last week. One of my managers was nice enough to invite us over to his house for a little holiday get together and his wife put together one of the most impressive spreads I've seen in a while. foodforfel.com/2009/12/holiday-party-2009/
