Bonne journée!
Have a Happy Day!

Excerpt from www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/kruispoort-32707.html:
Kruispoort, Brugge
Kruispoort or "Cross Gate" is the best preserved among Brugge's medieval gates. It was erected around 1297 when a second city wall was built around the city. At first, there were eight gates that served as entrances to the city of which only four survive today. The present Kruispoort is not the original one but a structure constructed in 1402. In the 1780s, the city walls were demolished as Brugge started expanding. Four of the gates were left intact to give visitors an idea of how heavily fortified Brugge was in the middle ages.
Kruispoort consists of two tall towers connected by an overhead passage. The passage and the towers have windows through which bullets were fired at the enemy. Initially, there were two bridges and a front gate that have disappeared over time. A drawbridge and two large doors were quickly closed as soon as guards could see the enemy approaching. The interior is preserved in its original condition and visitors can see the seats of the guards on each floor. Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, Napoleon, and the German army all entered Brugge through Kruispoort. The gate looks magnificent at night when it is illuminated.

APOD: 2021 October 29, Haunting the Cepheus Flare
Imaged by me at Negev Desert during two nights this summer.
These cosmic clouds in Cepheus have blossomed 1,300 light-years away. Located near center of this field, the Iris Nebula, NGC 7023 is not the only nebula to evoke the imagery of flowers, though. Within the Iris itself, dusty nebular material surrounds a hot, young star. The dominant color of the brighter reflection nebula is blue, characteristic of dust grains reflecting starlight. Central filaments of the reflection nebula glow with a faint reddish photo luminescence as some dust grains effectively convert the star's invisible ultraviolet radiation to visible red light. Infrared observations indicate that this nebula contains complex carbon molecules known as PAHs. The pretty blue petals of the Iris Nebula span about six light-years.
The dusty ghosts in the right side of this field are close to the edge of the Cepheus Flare molecular cloud complex. Over two light-years across and brighter than the other spooky chimeras, VdB 141 or Sh2-136 is also known as the Ghost Nebula, seen at toward the bottom of the featured image. Within the reflection nebula are the telltale signs of dense cores collapsing in the early stages of star formation. A protostar can be seen forming at the lower right end of the nebula. The V-shaped projection is one side of the bipolar outflow induced by the protostar's rotating accretion disk. Light from the protostar itself can be seen feebly glowing at the vertex of the V. The opposite bipolar outflow exiting the opposite side of the nebula can just be glimpsed to the left of the bright yellow star above the nebula.

Excerpt from english.cha.go.kr/html/HtmlPage.do?pg=/royal/RoyalPalaces...:
If one passes the garden at the rear of the Juhamnu Pavilion and walks down along the slope of the hill leading into the stairway, the person can find a square pond on the opposite side and a pavilion on the north bank of the pond. This is the Aeryeonjeong, which is composed of only 1 kan. Looking out of the windows of the pavilion, one can enjoy a wonderful view. It looks like just a framed picture, owing to the decorations attached to the upper part of the pillars. Of course, the mood of the picture depends on the season. In particular, the stone structure, through which water comes into the pond, is opposite excellent in beauty and technique of design.

At Noshinima's Neighborhood
The Challenge At Noshinima's Neighborhood: The City Block
This is the third of my challenges taking place at my brand new, bigger parcel, also named Noshinima's Neighborhood. This setup was a nightmare to work on, and after weeks of work and a lot of lindens spend, I have finally came up with a new challenge for all of you and it is now ready for visitors. This is a new concept I am showcasing on my Flickr, where I challenge 50 great artists to do a photo shoot in the backdrop I created at my home sim.
For the third challenge, I created a large New York style city block, complete with all the different types of retail store outlets you would find at in your typical downtown stroll along downtown. There are clothing stores, supermarkets, pizzerias flower shops and all types of different settings that can be potentially found in just one city block. This also comes with a fairly realistic street view complete with cars and trucks. I am challenging the names tagged in this post to do a shoot within my city block anywhere they like and however they like.
Rules and details:
1) I (Noshinima Midas) tag 50 names of great photographers on Second Life. Said photographers that choose to participate in the challenge can come over to my parcel, Noshinima's Neighborhood (link below) and do an image anywhere in my city. You will be allowed two hours to use any posestands or props that you would like to add and are allowed to bring any friends you want to join you in your shoot. You are also allowed to make the shoot as safe or as adult as you like. The only rule is that you do the shoot within the city block. Take your time to have a look around to see where in the block would make a great place for your image.
2) Upload the finished image onto Flickr and place the hashtag #NoshsHoodChallenge3 on either the title or the description.
3) YOU MUST TAG 10 PEOPLE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE TAKE THIS CHALLENGE ON YOUR UPLOAD OF YOUR SHOOT! NO MORE, NO LESS! I have had several people during previous challenges that have not followed this simple rule so I am making it ALLCAPS to get the point across. Link them to this post and explain the rules to them as well. They must also tag 10 of their friends that they would like to see do this challenge if they themselves choose to participate as well. You must tag people that are actual active photographers on Second Life. Tagging pages dedicated to advertising a store, tagging real life photographers and tagging empty profiles does not count and is against the rules. Also, although you are permitted to do this if you desire, tagging me and tagging yourself will not count towards the number of 10 photographers you are tagging.
I am available every day. If anyone has any questions, comments or would like help in their shoots, be sure to contact me on Flickr or Second Life.
To everyone tagged, remember that once you do the shoot from the city, you must tag 10 names that you would also like to see do this challenge and use the hashtag #NoshsHoodChallenge3
Here is the link to the city block:
Visit Noshinima's Neighborhood in Secondlife
Just a disclaimer. This is not a contest. It is simply a challenge for anyone to use my parcel in their photography as they see fit. Use any creative tactics you choose.
PS. The images shown on this post are pictures taken from the city block as examples of what my parcel looks like. I will post them all individually soon as examples of shoots done at my parcel.
PPS. I want to also add that while this challenge has officially started today, the city parcel itself is not yet completed. I am still working on adding small touches and details to make the parcel stand out. You may find empty rooms in the parcel but I will work on filling them up as soon as possible. Please excuse the otherwise unfinished and unorganized look of my city block.
Good luck to all those that choose to participate in the challenge. I am looking to see your creativity on display within the city block.
Love,
Noshinima Midas ;)

I
a recibir Su herencia y Su bendición.

In October, 2007, my wife, Karen, and I took a cruise along the Rhine-Main-Danube Waterway. We commenced at Amsterdam and ended at Budapest. One afternoon we travelled the Romantic Rhine (also known as the Middle Rhine, Heroic Rhine, Rhine Gorge and Rhine Valley). The day was dull and misty, so it was hard to obtain crisp photos. To further aggravate the situation, I was taking photos on a moving boat with a hand-held Fuji Finepix Z1. When I arrived home and examined the images, I found them to be somewhat uninspiring. Using my experience with PhotoShop, I post-processed the pictures and uploaded them to flickr. They looked a lot better. Over the past six months, I’ve also worked on them with a number of other filters to give them a painterly feel.
They have been posted for sale on Imagekind, and I currently have a blog at Blogger.com that plays into my Imagekind page. I have also created accounts at Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Travelocity, Expedia, IGOUGO, Amazon, Chapters/Indigo, Shelfari, Dopplr, TripAdvisor, VirtualTourist, Driftr, TripSay, LonelyPlanet, Tripwolf, Gather, Simpy, Delicious, and some others I can’t remember. As time goes on, I will link everything to flickr, Imagekind and Blogger. In addition, I am going to take the marketing advice provided by Imagekind. Here’s the link:
www.imagekind.com/member/marketing/tips.aspx
I have a lot more of my German photos to post, and I also have a lot of abstracts to flog. About seven months ago, I mentioned that I was going to do more research on my Uncle Bill Watson. To do so, I will have to visit Archives Canada in Ottawa, The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope and various sites in England and Wales. The results of this work will go to Blogger.
There will be other ventures as well. I am semi-retired, and I don’t want to sit around. My projects and the grandkids should keep me busy.
The interferon and rebetol are leaving Meg pretty exhausted. She had her first blood text since starting therapy for Hepatitis C, and the results are not what the doctor had hoped. Her white blood cell count is low as well. She is currently undergoing a twenty-four week course of chemo, but may be pushed into a forty-eight week course. Still, her spirits are high and she’s keeping busy.
Jess will deliver baby Will in about a month, so we’re gearing up for that.
I hope to visit you all some time next week. I don’t like to post pictures and not visit.

España - Murcia - Cartagena - Museo Naval
www.fundacionmuseonaval.com/museonavalcartagena.html

Hokoku Shrine is dedicated to the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi (one of the three unifiers of Japan in the 16th century) and his loyal aid Kato Kiyomasa. The reason for building this structure is clearly stated in a letter by Ankokuji Ekei, head monk of Ankokuji Temple. In 1587, Ekei asked Daiganji Temple, the temple in charge of construction and repair work in Miyajima including Itsukushima Shrine, to build a Buddhist library in which the chanting of Senbu-kyo sutras could be held every month. As there is no board ceiling or outer gate, it is believed that the construction of the building was not completed.
Originally, Amida Buddha and two subordinate Buddhist saints, Anan and Kasho-sonja, were enshrined in the Buddhist altar until the early Meiji era. Since that time, however, the altar has been used in Shinto rituals.
The building is called Senjokaku (Hall of One Thousand Tatami Mats), reflecting its standing as the largest structure on Miyajima Island. The shrine was a popular landmark in Miyajima where many people came to relax and cool themselves and to buy popular souvenirs such as tooth picks, and a variety of legends and traditions have been created here.
The fact that this structure, unique among the buildings belonging to Itsukushima Shrine, is unpainted and that its exact date of founding is recorded makes it a valuable gauge of the passage of time. The traces of weathering on its pillars and floor boards can be used to determine the approximate age of any other wooden structure on Miyajima.
A piece of wood used as a measuring device in the reconstruction work of the O-Torii in 1873 hangs on a pillar under the floor of the south part of the shrine. Countless votive picture tablets that had been hanging on the walls of Itsukushima Shrine buildings until the mid Meiji era decorate the walls inside the hall.
The shrine did not yet exist at the time of the Battle of Itsukushima in 1555 when the Mori clan defeated the Sue clan to unify the Chugoku region. The headquarters of the Sue clan was located on this hill, which was then called To-no-oka (Pagoda Hill). Starting in the Meiji era, the hill was developed through the establishment of stone steps, among other additions.

Its bare appearance may not intrigue you at first. Only unfinished walls and a hundred pillars. Although the building is pretty, there is something missing. But once inside, look up: the gigantic ceiling is covered with a mosaic of paintings whose subjects are as varied as the styles and periods of implementation. Medieval battles, Buddhist representations, landscapes and animals in a modern style, the eye does not know where to turn.

Life in Mei Foo-Now and Then by Ng Yuen Wa
The sixteen panels will be divided into two main parts according to their themes, one part is about the past of Mei Foo and the other illustrates the life of the Mei Foo residents at the present moment. These two main parts can be subdivided into four groups, each group consisting of four panels:
The first group, On the Night of the Mid-Autumn Festival , depicts how the Mei Foo residents used to share their love and joy at the podium under the full moon at the Mid-Autumn Festival.;
The second group, centred on the theme of Memory of the Seashore, brings the viewers back to a time when there was a wonderful seashore at the Mei Foo Sun Chuen. With a touch of nostalgia, this group of works highlights the sublime seascape and the serene atmosphere of the Mei Foo Sun Chuen.
The Mei Foo residents depicted in the third group, Apartment in the Starry Metropolitan, enjoy the glittering night scene of this prosperous metropolitan – Hong Kong – through gazing out of their apartment windows, while they are resting in their apartments after a day of work.
In Mei Foo, a piece of land has been reclaimed from the sea and a park with different kinds of recreational facilities is built on the reclamation area. The fourth group of work, entitled A Delightful Weekend, focuses on the recreational activities of the Mei Foo residents taking place in the park.
Mount Utsayantha got its name from the legend of a local Indian maiden, Utsayantha – which means "beautiful spring." She was said to have borne a child whose father was white, something that made her father, the chief, so furious he buried a tomahawk in the white man's skull and rowed with the baby to the center of a nearby lake and drowned it. Utsayantha followed her father to the lake and in her despair, drowned herself too. Upon discovering what she had done, the legend says the chief recovered her body and carried her up the mountain, where he buried her. Her grave site was believed to have been discovered in 1862, and although many doubt its authenticity, a monument was placed at the site in 1936.
