Unknown woman, Half-Moon Beach, Gloucester, Massachusetts, the spot where Massachusetts was founded. (Plymouth was a seperate, small colony).

The Camas Prairie Railroad line in north central Idaho was often referred to as the railroad on stilts due to the many trestles, like this one, on the line! In the approximately twelve miles between Culdesac, Idaho and the top of the grade at the edge of the Camas Prairie, the railroad climbs close to 2,000 feet. This famed stretch includes seven tunnels (now 6 as one was 'daylighted') and eighteen trestles! The most famous of these trestles is the Half Moon Trestle, this is a graceful 684 feet arc, 141 feet above the ground! This was built using one million board feet of timber! While this retired railroad may not be known to most people outside the area, the engineering on this line is famous throughout the industry. If you saw the 1975 western Breakheart Pass with Charles Bronson, you would have seen these trestles in the movie! They are a great part of the history in this region.

Baby Quilt - approx. 40" x 48"

Fabrics are from a charm pack & a Fat Quarter Bundle of Moda's Half Moon Modern line - purchased from CityCraft citycraftonline.com/ Plus some Bella solids to fill in the Orange, Green & Yellow blocks.

Solid sashing fabrics are Kona White & Kona Medium Gray.

Solids on the back are Moda Bella Solids, Steel, Betty's Red, Yellow, Summer House Lime, & Orange Purchased from Fat Quarter Shop www.fatquartershop.com/

Pattern is the Roller Rink from Elizabeth Hartman's book Modern Patchwork also purchased from CityCraft.

Used Aurifil 50/2 light grey (2600) from Pink Chalk Fabrics www.pinkchalkfabrics.com/ to quilt straight lines 1/4" on each side of the vertical seams. Love how this color of thread blends more readily with all the quilt colors than a white thread would have.

EQ7 was helpful in laying out this quilt & especially in designing the back!

Really, really like this pattern & will make it again.

Ritz-Carlton Hotel, surrounded by Half Moon Bay Golf Links, Half Moon Bay, California.

Half Moon Bay is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) south of San Francisco.

Half Moon Bay Golf Links is a public golf course facility with 36 holes of championship golf including the American parklands-style Old Course, which was designed by Arnold Palmer and the Arthur Hills-designed Scottish Links-style Ocean Course. The Ocean Course was the site for the 2008 Samsung World Championship (part of the LPGA tour). The facility also includes Mullins Bar & Grill restaurant, named after local legend Clyde "Moon" Mullins. (Wikipedia)

Half Moon Bay is a small city on the California coast, south of San Francisco. A string of beaches along the bay includes Half Moon Bay State Beach. The Coastside Trail leads north to Pillar Point, near the huge waves of the Mavericks surf spot. Nearby, Montara Mountain rises in the protected Rancho Corral de Tierra area. The Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve is on the slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains. ― Google

This is my first real attempt at a composite Milky Way image. The foreground was taken at sunset and they sky about an hour later. The Milky Way rises more towards the west (right) this time of year so I had to rotate my camera slightly to capture the sky. I will always be a fan of single frame images but this was fun!

For those wondering, here is the shot information: Location: Red River Gorge

Half Moon Cay!

It's an Island off the Bahamas. It's beautiful, I never wanted to leave. This was at around 9a.m and the sky and the ocean looked perfect. You can see just about everything in the ocean, and you can swim with the fishes and everything! They had so many activities to do on here. In order to reach this beach we had to take a small faerie because there isn't any dock what so ever to depart from the ship. It was an adventure! This was the beach named the 7mile beach. It's huge, and hence, it's shaped like a half moon. ;).

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. This is a Port of Call on Carnival Cruise Lines. They own the island, also known as Little San Salvador Island. It is 2 miles wide and 5 miles long. The beach is shallow and the water is clear. What a fantastic beach day!

I love capturing a half moon as it brings out so much more detail

Half-Moons Tessellation

backlit

This tessellation is related to the Hexagonal Pentagons Tessellation, but instead of the center of each molecule being a closed back iso-area hex twist, here the centers around any three irregular pentagons is an open backed iso-area twist. I don't think this one is quite as aesthetical as the Hexagonal Pentagons Tessellation, but it is still interesting.
