Get Pushed R40.
This is in response to my challenge from Martin, who goes by the Flickr name of Swedish Goose.. Please drop in to see Martin's photostream.. He has such variety!!
Martin gave me 3 options for this round.
As for your push. It's not easy coming up with one for you either. You have a lot of different types of shots in your excellent stream. There are some things I am thinking about...
1. You had a push earlier to do waterdrops which you rocked... how about a splash shot, where you drop something in water or even just pour water into a glass. Examples:
www.flickr.com/photos/swedishgoose/10698236703/
www.flickr.com/photos/swedishgoose/8542342639/
2. I don't see many dark and spooky images in your stream. Thinking of shots like these:
www.flickr.com/photos/swedishgoose/4252121704/
www.flickr.com/photos/swedishgoose/4864258694/
3. The third alternative is a long exposure with light trails, something like this:

Hope you are up for one of them...
All of them interesting one.. Thought I'd go for the first 2.. wanted to do both..
Well, the water splash was a messy disaster.. I just could not get it.. So thought of setting a scene for the 2nd one.. What a fun challenge that turned out to be. .Brushed up on my levitation process too.. Came up so many different ideas after I shot and processed this one!!
This was a fun challenge to do Martin.. Hope this is what you expected.. The water one was a disaster.. I tried taking shots of splashing water, but all I could get out if those shots was the mess that I made!! Fun that was anyway.. :) need to try that again soon.. Think my mum is going to be a my model from now on.. She is perfect one..never gets tired of following my instructions! Cannot ask for a better model!!!
Thanks again Martin and hope to see you around again!! :)
My lovely partner for this round Jasper , very kindly offered me the choice of two pushes:
1 - To shoot modern architecture
2 - To shoot movement in people.
I forgot to take any filters with me so my long exposures ended up rather bleached out, but something about the high-key feel. I don't know, just seemed right - even though it should be wrong.
Thank you Jasper for your great pushes, I hope I did them justice :)
Advantage of working with another photographer: you end up getting pushed into taking better photos.
Laura and I had both been shooting Katie for a good few minutes, when Laura had herself a brainwave, positioned Katie just right and started shooting away. We both knew these were gonna be some awesome shots, you can just tell, knowing how good Laura is, knowing how the poses are gonna look because we know how she shoots, how Katie looks under certain circumstances.
Sometimes you can just see the pictures ahead of time.
And they were gonna be oh so nice.
Damn her!
I was well into a calm groove that day, nothing special, just enjoying the park, all the various places we could shoot there, the great grey weather.
But after that, I started looking around, just a wee bit frantically, looking for inspiration.
Because now I had to come away with something special.
And that is a great place to be, with my mind actually working on the "problem".
This shot...oh man, it's early, so forgive me, this shot was my Solution.
I crack myself up.

Note the aircrew salute from the pilot. You probably don't get about hundred photographers standing in a field at the end of Hill AFB!
Stag Beetle
The Stag Beetle is the UK's largest beetle and is found in south-east England, particularly in south and west London. It prefers oak woodlands, but can be found in gardens, hedgerows and parks. The larvae depend on old trees and rotting wood to live in and feed on, and can take up to six years to develop before they pupate and turn into adults. The adults have a much shorter lifespan: they emerge in May with the sole purpose of mating, and die in August once the eggs have been laid in a suitable piece of decaying wood. Look for the adults on balmy summer evenings, when the males fly in search of mates. Once the male has found a mate, he displays his famously massive, antler-like jaws to her, and uses them to fight off rival males, in a similar fashion to deer.

As we were walking on the Palisades I spotted a large group of birds flying north up the coast. As they got closer it became clear that they were pelicans. It's tough enough to shoot groups of birds flying and then, when the only way to get them is through a group of palm trees getting a decent shot is near impossible. This was the only shot I had time to take and while far from perfect, I'm happy with it as a place marker for an amazing sight to see.
I attempted this kind of shot on an earlier visit to LA and this one I got yesterday may be a bit better.

Jaisalmer Desert Is so Beautiful. It is a treat to watch the Red Sun & Golden Sky, with camels all around. The sky textures are so beautiful and the tokina wide angel lens makes it more amazing. When I reached the Thar desert It was so crowded, so I decide to go more further in the desert so that I get less crowded frames. After 2-3 hours of business this camel guy finally decided to head back to home as it was getting dark.
Personally I feel this is a very tight frame. But this was an unexpected shot. I never noticed this guy coming in my way !!!
This was taken during Indian Mela in Barsanadham Temple, Austin. Indian Mela is a huge festival event in Barsanadham which happens every year during the month of March/April. It draws a variety of ethnicity to the event This was the first time I have been to this event. Despite the hot weather it was a fun event. They had all kind of rides (including elephant rides) for kids. I clicked this during a Clown show.
P.S: You guys might have noticed by now. I have changed my screen name/ buddy icon. Also from now on I will be using this new watermark. I have been thinking of creating one for a long time. Atlast I did.
After her nap, Peonia decided to get back outside and get her hands dirty. The mornings have been tough for Peonia since Gus left, but she has been feeling a little better once the sun starts to shine.
No theme other than 'all on the same roll'. Cutting negatives today and had almost forgotten a shot of a girl with a camera that was similar to the old Polaroids, instant pictures.
A behind the scenes shot as my friend, Brittany, gets her makeup done for a shoot. While the rest of us were in coats and sweaters, she rocked it with no sleeves!

This gopher looks very cute perched on top of an old fence post but he is taking a big risk. The area of Alberta that I photographed him has a large number of raptors who are always on the lookout for their next meal.
We have had a female Blackcap on our nut feeders over the last few days, and she's quite capable of standing her ground against the more normal users! I'm guessing she may be an early summer arrival, rather than an over-wintering bird. The virtual lack of a winter here in Surrey may have brought some migrants in early.
Matting and framing my photos for next Saturday!
I'll use my Flickr to promote my show during the rest of the week, why not? =)
