Life is mostly froth and bubble,
Two things stand like stone,
Kindness in another’s trouble,
Courage in your own.

It is springtime on Cape Cod, and cold damp weather is the norm. It is early morning and water droplets cover a young unfolding leaf after a misty night of drizzle and rain.
The leaf's bent accordion edges are studded with a bounty of tiny, aqueous gems.

Macro Mondays theme: Four Elements
In the 1997 film, The Fifth Element, the elemental stones are a group of brick-like objects that in combination with the Supreme Being, otherwise known as the Fifth Element, become a powerful weapon capable of defeating the Great Evil that threatens Earth. The eponymous Fifth Element was embodied by Leloo played by Milla Jovovich.
I had just photographed a petite Blythe doll as Leloo for a space/sci-fi themed doll group when this week's macro challenge was posted so I decided to make a set of the four elemental stones, each representing one of the four classic elements in nature: fire, water, earth, and air (referred to as "wind" in the film) in her scale (approx. 1/12)
The elements are represented by lines incised in the stones (in my photo in the order of earth, air, fire and water for aesthetic purposes). My stones are crafted from terracotta-coloured Milliput epoxy putty which hardens into a tough stone like material in a matter of hours.

Earth.
Back to the grass roots of things!
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
represented by four runes, Raido Communication, Eihwaz Defence, Teiwaz Warrior, Mannaz The Self.
They are fashioned from clay (earth and water, dried by the air and sun)
Squashed up slightly to fit into 3 inches.
A quickly done alternative to my air plant which was removed from the pool.
I can never say those four words without the Incredible String Band coming back to haunt me

Tragedy in Brasilia, since yesterday the Brasilia National Park has been on fire.

"Macro Mondays" "Four Elements". Candle photographed out side in a slight breeze with a piece of stone sparsely covered in earth in the background. Three of the four elements, but it was threatening rain so I almost had all four.
Aquarium rocks atop an inverted black cast iron skillet. Rocks saturated with Sterno and lighter fluid in low light for a slow-shutter exposure. Black felt background. Under 2 1/2 inches including negative space.
Earth, Water, Air, and Fire are all represented here.
If you comment or like my picture, thank you from the bottom of my heart. They mean a lot to me.

Theme 52 is a project started by me and 3 friends. Every sunday at 9pm we post a picture to represent the theme of the week, which is randomly picked from Isabell's hat.

Four Elements
Winds take me with you
to the heights of heavenly ether
Therein I taste drops
a primordial ground
of reasons
Transcendental love for
knowledge
On paths that flow through
worlds
Twinkle little wings,
to unlock the brazen locks
Earth take me in
Culture begins with you
In the deep root kingdom
the earth mother whispers:
"To find is to lose."
Fire burn me
a little fist of earth
still so wet
Glowing in the magma core
and again to ether
vaporised

Water droplet shot with a moving 'point' light source against a CD background. Aside from the CD, light source was a phone torch, tripod mounted with remote shutter and 48mm extension ring on lens.
Shot for the Macro Monday challenge, 'Four Elements' (ie earth, air, fire and water). Had to be at least one so I chose water. Depending on whether you believe that in antiquity they saw air as different to light, you could argue that the light is also a second element in the shot.

Two, arguably three, elements are depicted here. Water, air and fire. Oh, OK, temperature.
This is a photo of the upper part of a Galilean thermometer. Five vessels like those shown are contained in a sealed tube of water, rising and falling as the density of the water varies with temperature. The link describes the physics.

The photo was taken backlit by a white light source and focus stacked. A 12mm extension tube was used.

We've had lots of rain but yesterday was nice. This little droplet was nestled in the Bleeding Heart (Lamprocapnos) that has pushed his way up this spring.
HMM.
I am a Gemini and my element is Air, so that is what I wanted to use. The problem is, of course, you can't see air, but you can see its effect with wind. So, this is air moving a small flower.
Macro Mondays Week 18: The Four Elements
Water... One of the four elements that give life. Water, Earth, Air, and Fire.
A good friend commented, "This actually has all four. Earth is the leaf. Air is there. Water in the droplets. Fire in the reflection of light."
I'll buy that!
