Tilya-Kori-Madrasa forms together with two other madrasahs the world famous Registan in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It was built 1646-1660 and while in Ulugh Bek you find many souvenir shops, here you find resplendent fairytale ceiling work.

BETTER LARGE ON BLACK

when i downloaded this image from my camera i knew instantly that i needed to convert it to black & white with just a bit of tint. to me i can better appreciate this flower's beautiful form, its graceful lines and subtle textures, without the distraction of colors.

225 days to go before my next trip to the Philippines.

This beautiful Neotropical hummingbird has been reclassified since I saw it nectaring at a feeder in Panama. The Blue-chested Hummingbird (Polyerata amabilis) was formerly placed in the genus Amazilia. It is also found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Nicaragua, but its numbers are sadly decreasing. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and heavily degraded former forest.

Males – like this one – form leks to try to gain the attention of females during the breeding season.

Snowy Egret

From Cornell:

Highly social all year long, Snowy Egrets forage with gulls, terns, ibises, and other herons, and they nest in colonies alongside many other species, including Great Egrets, night-herons, Glossy Ibises, Little Blue Herons, Tricolored Herons, Cattle Egrets, and Roseate Spoonbills.

Lac de Vallon is located in Haute-Savoie (France), at 1,080 meters.

Nestled at the foot of the Roc d'Enfer, it is a magnificent mountain lake formed following a landslide in 1943. Under the waters of the lake, you can discover the ruins of sunken hamlets.

In 1908, the Düsseldorf-based Central-trade-ssociation for Rhineland, Westphalia and neighbouring districts praised a competition for a fountain in front of the Düsseldorf Art Palace.

As a "figurative representation of the iron industry and the mining industry," it was to be sent to the 1902 on the site on the banks of the Rhine (then Kaiser Wilhelm Park, now Rheinpark) the industrial and commercial exhibition was held.

Among the 44 designs submitted, the jury, which was prominently occupied by the painter Fritz Roeber, the painter Georg Oeder, the architect Wilhelm Kreis and the Düsseldorf garden director Walter von Engelhardt, was Prize awarded, so also do not recommend a design for execution. It was initially planned to give the authors of the shortlisted drafts the opportunity to revise them in a second stage of competition (a closer competition).

The fountain was built in its original form between 1911 and 1913. While the Düsseldorf architect Gotthold Nestler designed the actual well complex, the sculptor Friedrich Coubillier created the three bronze figures "Schmied Vulkan," "Bergmann" and "Hüttenarbeiter." Miner and cottage worker are depicted in the loincloth. The bronze casting of the figures took place at the Kunstgießerei Lauchhammer.

On the occasion of the opening of the Grand Art Exhibition in 1913, the industrial fountain in front of the former Art Palace was inaugurated. In 1925 the fountain was dismantled there because of the extensive new buildings at the Ehrenhof.

In 1939, the three sculptures were erected in a new facility on Fürstenplatz in Friedrichstadt. In 1942 the figures were to be melted down as metal donations by the German people for armaments and were removed. However, they remained intact, and in 1950 they were restored.

Joessa on kalaa / Kertoivat sen minulle / Ei silti meille.

Female Albino Sulphur - my insect book says the females can be greenish white and males are yellow; this one was white when the wings were open with beautiful color on the edges. Females sometimes exhibit a white form known as 'Alba'.

Forme bleue ( sombre ) Blue morph ( dark morph ).

Alto Caparaó is known throughout the national territory for its natural beauty, and is one of the most beautiful regions in terms of ecotourism destinations for those who love and appreciate nature. A region of beautiful mountains that form a valley that surrounds the city, with an exuberant landscape, Alto Caparaó invites us to feel the fresh air, bathe in crystalline waters and fall in love with the climate and its natural beauties.

The composition of this image was achieved IN CAMERA using an Apple iPhone 4S. Post capture processing was indeed done, but only involving the treatment of light and colour. By "breaking the rules" of the iPhone's panoramic function, the image can be skewed, splintered or fragmented into a multi-planarity that could, perhaps be called a form of "Millennial Cubism".

A woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. 24261

I shot this at Lake Windermere, Cumbria England. It is the largest natural lake in England. It is a ribbon lake formed in a glacial trough after the retreat of ice at the start of the current interglacial period.

Icebergs form when chunks of ice calve, or break off, from glaciers, ice shelves, or a larger iceberg. Icebergs travel with ocean currents, sometimes smashing up against the shore or getting caught in shallow waters ( credit NSIDC). We sailed into Paradise Bay it was very dark with mist. Then there was a break in the clouds over the mountain slope. This photo was taken in the mid afternoon. The seas were still but visibility was poor. The Antarctic Peninsula is the northernmost part of the mainland of Antarctica, located at the base of the Southern Hemisphere. Antarctica is a continent, bigger than Europe, North America or Australia,

After everything was said and done and we were gathered together under the High King of the Reunited Kingdom, hope prevailed!

We made our way to Rivendell.

Once there, we gathered one last time.

Wise words still echo in my head:

"All we can do is forge ahead..."

"it is not over."

Indeed, it is through the grace of God, his blessings, and direction that we begin again.

A new start.

This is another photo from the Tallahassee area at the Tallahassee museum . The cypress trees reminded me of a cathedral or some other form of architecture. I spent a good deal of time there with my good friend and created new memories for a new start.

Thank you all for your kind favs and comments. I will come visit your kingdoms in time.

So many forces act to provide these forms and lines – geologic upthrust and erosive carving, where the light falls and how the winds prevail, patterns of moisture and light that determine the growth of trees and shrubs. In the Wasatch Mountains, near Salt Lake City.
