Yarn used: Gaelic Aran, or is it Celtic Aran, by KFI. long discontinued.
Needle size: US8 (5 mm) and 6 (4 mm) for the ribbing.
Why this sweater will be frogged: It makes me look like a line backer. I love how the bobbles look but they don't look good on me. Plus, this yarn is super warm, too warm for LA. I would not wear it.
What I learned making this sweater: I learned how to knit backwards to make all those bobbles a little more manageable. This is a skill that I believe will serve me well. I also learned I do not like to wear bulky textured knits because they make me look fat - but let me be more specific here - I am a very small boned girl. Bulky knits are out of proportion with my body type and look awkward on me. I love how they look in pictures, just not on me. I also learned (or reaffirmed) my dislike for the going-down-a-needle-size-for-ribbing philosophy. I never like how it turns out. Perhaps because I am a tight knitter? I don't know.
Why I love this yarn but hate the color: The other problem with this yarn is that I hate the color. It is boring Oatmeal. A color I cannot wear. The good thing about this yarn is although I have knit it into 3 different garments that have subsequently been frogged due to the ugly color/unsuitable sweater design the yarn still looks nice and new. It is now being made into a blanket.

Looks like a possibility of a fallout along Red River and anywhere north in Oklahoma. Okies need to be out the morning of Aug. 09.

Looks like a dying thunderstorm cloud. Talk about an unstable air mass! Spotty showers & thunderstorms were in the forecast for San Jose, CA this day. It felt like it's been a while since I've seen storm clouds like these, let alone this type of weather environment! The cause: A large area of steeper lapse rates associated with cold air aloft accompanying a synoptic upper trough had spread inland through California this day... This was to contribute to some atmospheric instability across the region. Several pockets of ascent accompanying a series of vorticity maxima rotating thru the upper low circulation were to contribute to the development of showers and a few thunderstorms. T-storm potential was decent over California, especially near the coast where slightly greater instability was to be present...

Weather scenario/forecast:
An atmospheric river had already drenched the state earlier this month. Now once again, another series of 3 strong storms have battered the state which started last Wednesday, with each storm dropping widespread heavy rainfall and bringing strong gusty southerly winds to nearly the entire state. This storminess was forecast to occur in a time period from January 18-23, 2017. At this point, the Bay Area was enduring its wettest January in 15 years! Spotty showers and even a few t-storms were observed this day of Monday, January 23, 2017. Drier, sunnier weather conditions were in the forecast for the remainder of the week (we needed it).

Despite and abysmal weather forecast and unseasonable cold temperatures on Saturday, 4/7/18 over 90 dedicated volunteers arrived at Bread and Cheese Creek to clean up the beautiful little historic stream. Before they left a 40 yard dumpster was filled with trash and debris stream and its bank totally over 4 tons!!! This included 332 bags of trash, truck full of metal to be recycled, 5 tires, 4 box springs , 3 mattresses, a coffee table, half a shed, a picnic umbrella and much more!!! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work under such tough conditions! Our volunteer dedication to working toward a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment cannot be topped!
While this cleanup was planned and run by Clean Bread and Cheese Community Cleanups we couldn’t do any of it without our incredible volunteer and our wonderful supporters. The 49th Antique Fly-In a “Triumph Over Adversity” - adversity in the form of weather & weather forecasts. The turnout was much greater than would have been predicted or could have reasonably been expected at 10 AM Saturday when it started to rain. Ceilings were 800 feet or less at 9 AM and only slowly improved. We never really saw the sun until well after noon but neither did we have fog which would have been a deal-breaker. 61 guest planes flew in. I saw some planes I’d never seen before although no WACOs ventured out (understandable). The oldest plane was the “Lindbergh” Bird restored by Joseph & Anna Fichera, piloted by Andrew King - thanks for that. John Chirtea brought his new (to him) Ercoupe plus 3 other Ercoupes came - as they had promised. There were a surprising number of drive-in spectators too, so many that the fire company food stand sold out of everything (for which we apologize).
Thanks to the Potomac Antique Aero Squadron for putting on this event and everyone that volunteers and, of course, all the pilots that showed up despite the discouraging view out their windows when they woke up that Saturday morning.

The forecast for Saturday morning was good so I thought I would try some shots at Port Jack on the climb out of Douglas. Sadly it was another morning of dark cloud and first a cycle race, then a lorry conspired twice to prevent a shot in front of the shops! Car 22 and trailer 40 are working the 09:40 from Douglas to Ramsey.
The forecast was right on this occassion so my trip to Wyre Forest proved worthwhile.
The main target was pearl-bordered fritillaries and there were a great deal around. Very few other butterflies were seen - 4 other species and 8 butterflies in total!
I have never had a good ventral photo of a pearl-bordered fritillary and one was well perched in the shade. However it was surrounded by people who had put it there taking huge number of photos, so I only took a few and none were fully sharp unfortunately.
This is the view from my dining room window, a calm Lake Michigan...tomorrow we have a forecast of a storm that will rival the storm that sunk the Edmund Fitzgerald. Oh my, hold on to your hats!
