Between 13 and 21 May 2016, London College of Communication held an exhibition, conference and workshop aimed at engaging audiences in speculations about the key design trends which could shape and transform our everyday lives. The event series was organised by MA Design Management and Cultures students and was based around five provocations authored by industry experts on important global themes: Digital Disruptions, Architectural Visions, Ageing Populations, Consumer Lifestyles and Cultural Institutions. The 49th Antique Fly-In a “Triumph Over Adversity” - adversity in the form of weather & weather forecasts. The turnout was much greater than would have been predicted or could have reasonably been expected at 10 AM Saturday when it started to rain. Ceilings were 800 feet or less at 9 AM and only slowly improved. We never really saw the sun until well after noon but neither did we have fog which would have been a deal-breaker. 61 guest planes flew in. I saw some planes I’d never seen before although no WACOs ventured out (understandable). The oldest plane was the “Lindbergh” Bird restored by Joseph & Anna Fichera, piloted by Andrew King - thanks for that. John Chirtea brought his new (to him) Ercoupe plus 3 other Ercoupes came - as they had promised. There were a surprising number of drive-in spectators too, so many that the fire company food stand sold out of everything (for which we apologize).
Thanks to the Potomac Antique Aero Squadron for putting on this event and everyone that volunteers and, of course, all the pilots that showed up despite the discouraging view out their windows when they woke up that Saturday morning.

i just thought this was funny looking over our forecast for the week and wednesday just says blizzard, normally it would say flurries, snow. i guess they just want us to panic and run to the store again to restock up on stuff we bought before last fridays blizzard. its funny when they say things like this and people just immidiately go out and buy all the milk, eggs, and bread they can. just to be snowed in for one day lol.
