A well traveled 757, FedEx N944FD is leaving Memphis to fly across the state to Knoxville. A quick 50 minute flight.
Originally delivered to American Airlines as a DC-10 in February 1979, FedEx MD-10 also flew for Hawaiian Airlines briefly. Here, the McDonnell Douglas tri-jet is seen on the company ramp at Memphis getting de-iced in February 2006. The airframe was retired to Victorville (VCV) in 2009.

This is one of a series of pieces I did on opened-up FedEx envelopes, sent to me by various people and places. I thought they were beautiful, being a graphic designer by profession (I also created a series on GAP shopping bags), I have great appreciation for excellent branding. These envelopes inspired me and became my canvases...
I incorporated here a wine bottle label with sash; kraft paper wrapping from a great art book, Clavé Sculpteur that I had purchased; map swatch; graph tissue paper; very old religious calendar; map; crusade sticker; Frida movie ticket stub; polka dot wallpaper swatch...
I keep everything, and use them in my work. They are a part of me and they are me...

On final for Memphis International is FedEx A310 N455FE. First delivered to Kuwait Airways in 1984 as 9K-AHE, this Airbus was seized by Iraq during the Iraq–Kuwait War on August 2, 1990. Iraqi Airways never used the aircraft. It was retired from FedEx in 2015 and sent to Victorville, California. The airframe was scrapped in 2023.
Originally built for Air France, but never taken delivery of, N882FD is in the tail dock for B-Check at Hanagr 26 in Memphis.
