Just some bridge love on the way home. My friend Eddie and his fiancee Tom and I are constantly bridge-rolling from one side of the city to the other. We always try to take a different one. Any guesses as to which bridge this is? Should be easy...
Fast Castle is the ruined remains of a coastal fortress in Berwickshire, south-east Scotland, in the Scottish Borders.
Fast Castle, in its heyday, comprised a courtyard and keep, built on a narrow sloping plateau, 27m by 80m, on an eponymous promontory overlooking the North Sea. Cliffs up to 45m high on either side rendered the castle relatively impregnable. The plateau was surrounded by a curtain wall with towers, with the keep at the northern extremity of the peninsula. The castle could only be reached by a drawbridge over a narrow ravine, protected by a barbican. Little remains today of the keep or the courtyard walls except foundations. The layout of the castle is very similar except in terms of scale to Dunnottar Castle in Aberdeenshire. Access to the sea was via a pulley system with basket. There is a cave at the foot of the cliffs, which, it has been suggested, could once have acted as an access to the interior of the castle by its inhabitants.

I was biking around, saw this event in progress and stopped for a while for to take some pictures. I love shooting dynamic stuff like this, dance performances or music events because of the challenge: combination of low light conditions, fast action and unpredictable movements.

KZ Gedenkstätte Sachsenhausen - Aussenlager Falkensee
In Betrieb genommen wurde das Aussenlager Falkensee im Oktober 1943. Bis zu 2500 Männer aus fast allen Ländern Europas wurden in insgesamt neun Blöcken untergebracht.
Unter unmenschlichen Bedingungen wurden die Gefangenen hauptsächlich im Rüstungsbetrieb der DEMAG (Deutschen Maschinen AG Demag de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demag ) eingesetzt. Dabei wurden Munition und Panzerausrüstung hergestellt.
Unzählige Todesopfer forderte die Rücksichtslose Behandlung der Häftlinge durch harte, bis zu 14 Stunden lange Schichten, mangelhafte Ernährung, gerade im Winter keine ausreichende Bekleidung, nicht enden wollende Zählappelle, keine Gesundheitsversorgung und natürlich gerade auch die tägliche Misshandlungen durch die SS-Wachen.
Die kranken und erschöpften Insassen wurden ins Stammlager Sachsenhausen gebracht, wo sie dann ermordet und im Krematorium verbrannt wurden.
Nie wieder!
