With all the recent heavy rain our rivers are very swollen and in some cases near to bursting!! More wet weather forecast this week will only make the situation worse!!

The word ‘Ramadan’ is derived from the Arabic word Ramdh (رمض), which means, ‘intensely hot’ or ‘burning’. The month of Ramadan is named as such for three reasons:

• One who fasts becomes hot due to thirst.

• Worship and devotion in this month burns away the traces of sin.

• Devotion in this month produces the necessary warmth of love in man for his Creator and fellow beings.

After having success with a dusk shot in Potterville, the lights were quickly packed and I hopped back on the highway and raced up to Durand for another shot of the first run across the GTW of the at the time, still clean EJ&E heritage unit. The train would fly through Durand and then stop to work Flint, giving me enough time to gather the lights and drive fast ahead of it again.

Yesterday's weather was brutal. Twenty-five mile an hour winds with the wind chill .... too darn cold! I've been feeling down without my camera in hand so I dragged Kipp out into the weather to see the sparrows. They seemed happy to sit in the sun yet many were in their cozy Lobster Traps.

This one was so happy to show off his best side:) I may spend the rest of the year photographing these darlings...

The time goes by faster than you can imagine

McConnells Mill State Park-Pennsylvania

This black-and-white long-exposure photograph catches light streaks on a busy road, symbolising life's fast pace. The world's continuous rush and frantic pace can make us feel like we're always in a race, struggling to keep up. Nonetheless, even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be discovered in the journey.

a Tilo regional train passing in Bellinzona train station, in direction to Lombardia

A trip back to Sept 2018 when we were 'hobos' temporarily, having sold our house in Bedfordshire with a two week gap before our new home in Alnwick was available.

Our final 3 or 4 'hobo' days were spent near Penrith on the edge of the Lake District within easy reach of Ullswater, seen here on a blowy day with a sky full of scudding clouds.

The bill of a night heron is designed to break apart all sorts of shelled critters.

Ginger my Soul . . . . . . . . 🌌 ✨

The sun rested low above the water, as though even the sky had decided to slow down for a little while . . .

Golden light moved softly across their skin while tiny glowing sparks drifted through the warm air like fireflies carried by the breeze . . .

No noise . . . No rush . . .

Only the quiet sound of the ocean . . . . . . . . . and two souls standing close enough to feel the warmth of the same moment . . . . . . . .

She stood before him with that soft kind of smile that feels more like a feeling than an expression . . .

And he stayed near her gently, almost as if some part of him already knew that certain connections arrive quietly . . . . . . . yet change something deep inside you forever.

It was never about perfection.

It simply felt real . . . . . . . . .

Like warm summer air resting on sun-kissed skin . . .

Like the ocean breathing softly beside them . . .

Like hearing a song by chance . . . . . . . and suddenly carrying it with you long after the music fades . . . . . . . . . . .

Maybe something began there . . .

Not through promises.

Not through loud words.

But through a feeling neither of them needed to explain . . . . . . .

A quiet kind of magic . . . . . . . . .

The kind that lives inside small moments . . .

inside golden light . . .

inside the silence between two people who simply choose to stay . . .

And somehow, while the palm trees danced slowly in the breeze and the sunlight melted into the sea. . . . . . . .

The whole world around them softened into gold . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . .

Vielleicht begann genau dort etwas.

"And now for something completely different"

This year I spent all my time with black redstarts. I did however, for one morning, go down to Horn Mill Trout Farm, Rutland with my friend Ivan Ellison, leaving at midnight for an early morning start. It was getting late in the year for ospreys but we knew some birds were knocking around so we took pot luck and hired a hide. Ivan had a Canon R6 mkII which has blazingly fast subject tracking and he got some wonderful diving shots. As for me well I am crap. We had two opportunities in half decent light and I missed the first one whilst changing a tele-converter and on the second occasion I missed the splash but got the osprey after it had dropped the fish. So here it is my only shot of the morning. It is full frame but it shows the effects of rolling shutter in the background. This effect is the worst thing associated with the Canon R7 but in truth for most of what I do it makes little difference. We finished by mid morning and we drove back to Manchester and I attended to my black redstarts. I asked myself was the trip worth the expense and all the travelling....answer, yes! It's the experience, the hope, the anticipation and seeing these birds close up. Also if it were easy it would not be worthwhile. For the record, I am crap at flight shots, always have been and always will be.
