Alle, die keinen Urlaub machen können, mögen mich auf einer Runde durch Wien begleiten. Vorbei an den berühmten Sehenswürdigkeiten, aber vielleicht auch abseits Sehenswertes entdecken ...
Das Donauweibchen ist eine Figur aus der Wiener Sagenwelt, die angeblich notleidenden Fischern half. Die Figur von Hanns Gasser wurde 1865 aufgestellt und der Brunnen speit Trinkwasser.

The Donauweibchen ('Danube woman) is a figure from Viennese mythology who supposedly helped defaulted fishermen. The figure by Hanns Gasser was placed in 1865 and the fountain spouts drinking water.
*Letzte Sonnenstrahlen über Tulpenfeldern*
Heute vor einer Woche gegen Sonnenuntergang in Nordholland. Nach dem Abendessen schaute ich aus dem Fenster unseres Ferienappartements und sah schöne Bewölkung aufziehen...also schnell ins Auto und in ca. fünf Minuten waren wir am Rande dieser Tulpenfelder, die ich am Tag vorher bereits gescoutet hatte.
A week ago today, around sunset in North Holland. After dinner, I looked out the window of our holiday apartment and saw beautiful clouds gathering...so I quickly got in the car and in about five minutes we were at the edge of these tulip fields, which I had already scouted the day before.

USA Southwest Classic at the Gran Staircase Escalante National Monument, not far from Spencer Flat and Old Sheffield Road. There are no signs, but you can find the coordinates on the internet. So go there with GPS only, otherwise you will hardly find the location at the end of a long hike. You can only see the volcano when you stand directly in front of it.
In front of my location, it is about three meters down to get to the sand dune in the volcano.
USA-Südwest Klassiker im Gran Staircase Escalante National Monument irgendwo unweit der Spencer Flat und Old Sheffield Road. Es gibt keine Hinweisschilder, aber im Internet findet man die Koordinaten. Also nur mit GPS dort hingehen, sonst wird man die Location am Ende einer langen Wanderung kaum finden. Man sieht den Vulkan erst, wenn man direkt davor steht.
Vor meinem Standort geht es noch ungefähr drei Meter nach unten, bis man an die Sanddüne im Vulkan gelangt.

Die Wiener Karlskirche, bedeutendstes sakrales Bauwerk des Barock in Wien, Kaiserliche Patronatskirche, 1716–1737 nach Plänen von Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach erbaut. Die Skulptur davor nennt sich Hill Arches und stammt vom Künstler Henry Moore.

Vienna's St Charles Church, most important sacral building of the Baroque era in Vienna, Imperial church, built in 1716-1737 to plans by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. The sculpture in front of it is called Hill Arches and is from the artist Henry Moore.

The swallowtail butterfly is back in the garden, flying around the meadow flowers. I’ve already spotted a few tiny caterpillars. – This photo is actually from last summer, though; the wild carrot hasn’t flowered in my garden yet.
Der Schwalbenschwanz ist wieder im Garten und fliegt seine Runden über die Wiesenblumen. Jetzt habe ich schon ein paar winzige Raupen entdecken können. - Dieses Bild stammt allerdings noch vom letzten Sommer, die wilde Möhre ist bei mir noch nicht am blühen.
(Es lohnt eine Vergrößerung des Bildes anzuschauen um vieles mehr zu sehen!

Manarola ist ein Ortsteil von Riomaggiore in der Provinz La Spezia (Ligurien, Italien). Es ist einer der Orte der Cinque Terre.
Möglicherweise ist Manarola der älteste Ort der Cinque Terre, da die Grundsteinlegung der Kirche San Lorenzo auf das Jahr 1160 datiert ist.
Der örtliche Dialekt ist manarolesisch und unterscheidet sich von den Dialekten der nahegelegenen Orte. Traditionell wird in Manarola Wein hergestellt und Fischfang betrieben. Der lokale Wein wird Sciacchetrà genannt. Alte römische Schriften berichten von diesem Wein.

... am Hohen Markt in der Wiener Innenstadt. Die Ankeruhr ist eine brückenartige Verbindung von 10 Metern Länge zwischen zwei Gebäuden. Diese Spieluhr im Jugendstil ist eine Touristenattraktion. Sie wurde 1914 erstmals in Betrieb genommen. Jede Stunde wandern historische Persönlichkeiten vorbei und zur vollen Stunde ertönt ein Stundenschlag. Um 12 Uhr ziehen alle Figuren vorbei, jeweils begleitet von einem passenden Musikstück, früher aus Orgelpfeifen, heute als digitale Tonwiedergabe. Auf meinem Foto sieht man Kaiserin Maria Theresia und Franz Stephan von Lothringen.

... at the Hoher Markt in the centre of Vienna. The Anker (anchor) clock is a bridge-like connection of 10 metres between two buildings. This Art Nouveau style music clock is a tourist attraction. It was first put into operation in 1914. Every hour historical figures pass by and at the exact hour a chime sounds. At 12 o'clock, all the figures pass by, each accompanied by a suitable piece of music, formerly from organ pipes, today as digital sound reproduction. In my photo you can see Empress Maria Theresa and Franz Stephan of Lorraine.

Die griechisch-orthodoxe Kirche am Fleischmarkt im 1. Bezirk ist die Kathedrale der griechisch-orthodoxen Metropolis Österreichs im ehemaligen Griechenviertel. 1782 erstmals zu einer Kirche umgebaut, bekam das Gebäude erst 1861 das in byzanthinischem Stil gehaltene Aussehen mit Turm und Kuppel.
Neben der Kirche ist das 'Griechenbeisl' zu sehen – was es mit dem 'lieben Augustin' dort auf sich hat, erzähle ich Euch beim nächsten Foto von Wien ...

The Greek Orthodox Church on Fleischmarkt in the 1st district is the cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Austria in the former Greek Quarter. First converted into a church in 1782, it was not until 1861 that the building was given its Byzantine-style appearance with tower and dome.
Next to the church you can see the 'Griechenbeisl' ('Greek Pub') - I'll tell you about the 'dear Augustin' there in the next photo of Vienna ...
This macro shot shows a part of an old telex at an abandoned porcelain factory.
Dieses Makro zeigt einen Schalter an einem alten Fernschreiber in einer stillgelegten Porzellanfabrik. Ich versuche jedes Mal, wenn ich in der Porzellanfabrik bin, neue Motive zu entdecken und andere Details zu fotografieren. Manchmal finde ich dann noch komplett neue Ansichten.

One of the most beautiful hiking trails through the "Luxembourg Switzerland" near Echternach leads among other things through a labyrinth of rocks.
Eine der schönsten Wanderstrecken durch die "Luxemburger Schweiz" nahe Echternach führt unter anderem durch ein Labyrinth aus Felsen.

Wenn man so durch das Hohe Venn in der belgischen Eifel wandert, stößt man immer wieder auf kleine Wildbäche, die ins Tal stürzen. Häufig finden sich dann kleine Wasserfälle, die sich als Fotomotive anbieten.

Dieses Zeichen habe ich in Schwerin an einem Laden mit Holzgegenständen gefunden. Wer das Yin und Yang zeichen kennt ☯, wird es in dem Baum mit seiner Umgebung entdecken.
Licht kann man nicht ohne Dunkelheit verstehen, Nähe nicht ohne Distanz, Wärme nicht ohne Kälte...
I found this sign in Schwerin on a shop with wooden objects. Anyone who knows the sign of yin and yang, will notice it in the tree with its surroundings.

sind zwei Begriffe des chinesischen Denkens. Sie stehen für polar einander entgegengesetzte und dennoch aufeinander bezogene Kräfte oder Prinzipien.
Yin and yang are not opposing forces (dualities), but complementary forces.. Everything has both yin and yang aspects as light could not be understood if darkness didn't exist, and shadow cannot exist without light.

Das Kaiserin Elisabeth Denkmal befindet sich im Wiener Volksgarten. Es ist ein Marmordenkmal von Hans Bitterlich, gewidmet der Gemahlin Kaiser Franz Josephs, die 1898 einem Attentat in Genf zum Opfer gefallen ist. Das Gebäude im Hintergrund ist das Wiener Burgtheater. Die Kinderskulpturen sind beim seitlichen Brunnen zu sehen.

The Empress Elisabeth Monument is located in Vienna's Volksgarten. It is a marble monument by Hans Bitterlich dedicated to the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph, who fell victim to an assassination attempt in Geneva in 1898. The building in the background is the Vienna Burgtheater ('castle theatre'). The children's sculptures can be seen at the fountain on the side.

An welch kleinen Dingen man sich doch erfreuen kann. Ich hatte die Hoffnung schon aufgegeben, dass meine Schachbrettblumen wachsen. Nach dem meine Schneeglöckchen leider nicht ausgetrieben sind, konnte ich es gestern nicht fassen zwei kleine Pflänzchen zu entdecken. Mitten im hohen Gras, gerade noch vor dem ersten Rasenschnitt haben sich die Blütenknospen gebildet.
Sind schon gespannt was als nächstes zum Blühen beginnt.
What little things to enjoy. I had already given up hope that my leper lily (Fritillaria meleagris) would grow. After the my snowdrops unfortunately not exorcised, I could not believe yesterday two small plantlets to discover. In the middle of the tall grass, just before the first lawn cut, the flower buds have formed.
We are already curious what will start flowering next.
At six o'clock in the morning it's still quiet on the Rur river in the Eifel. Enough time to look for motifs and take photos.

Mit zierlich nickenden Glockenblüten dekoriert die Schachblume im Frühling naturnahe Feuchtwiesen, den Bachlauf und Teichrand. In freier Natur ist die Zwiebelblume mit dem purpur-weißen Schachbrettmuster nur noch selten zu entdecken.
Aufgenommen im Steingarten des Berggartens in Hannover.
With delicate nodding bellflowers, the chess flower decorates near-natural wet meadows, the stream and pond edge in spring. In the wild the onion flower with the purple-white checkerboard pattern is rarely to be discovered. Recorded in the rock garden of the Berggarten in Hanover.
