Obwohl die Donauinsel ein beliebtes Freizeitzentrum mitten in Wien ist und sehr stark besucht wird, kann man immer wieder auch die eigentlichen Bewohner dieses Areals entdecken....

We have made today equal times a New Year's walk through Berlin's center. Past the Red City Hall, where the Christmas market Ferris wheel still turns, further "Unter den Linden" to the "Tiergarten" and back to the Suburban train station „Friedrichstraße“. The small about 5 kilometers long City Walk was nevertheless very relaxing. Since it was just wonderful to watch the many tourists and to discover his own city times again.

GER: Ich begrüße euch alle da draußen im neuen Jahr. Ich hoffe das ihr gut rüber gekommen seid ins 2022. ☻
Wir haben heute gleich mal einen Neujahrs Spaziergang durch Berlins Mitte gemacht. Vorbei am Roten Rathaus, wo sich immer noch das Weihnachtsmarkt Riesenrad dreht, weiter „Unter den Linden“ bis zum „Tiergarten“ und zurück zum S-Bahnhof Friedrichstraße. Der kleine etwa 5 Kilometer lange City Walk war doch sehr entspannend. Da es einfach herrlich war, die vielen Touristen zu beobachten und seine eigene Stadt mal wieder zu entdecken.

Die Hofburg zu Wien war jahrhundertelang die Residenz der Habsburger. Seit 1946 ist sie der Amtssitz des Österreichischen Bundespräsidenten. Sie beherbergt auch die Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, einige Museen und das Bundesdenkmalamt.
Am Michaelerplatz befinden sich am jeweiligen Ende des Michaelertrakts ein Brunnen. Links unten zu sehen der Brunnen mit dem Namen "Die Macht zur See". Rechts oben zu sehen der Brunnen mit dem Namen "Die Macht zu Lande".

La Palma is an island of volcanoes. In particular, the southern half of the island with the so-called Cumbre Vieja is characterized by young volcanoes.
The picture was taken on the upper crater rim of the youngest volcano Teneguia (eruption in 1971) with a view to the north on the volcano San Antonio (eruption 1677).
The panorama of 8 vertical images also shows the weather phenomena of the island of La Palma, mostly cloudy in the east, but mostly sunny in the west.

La Palma ist eine Insel der Vulkane. Insbesondere die Südhälfte der Insel mit der sogenannten Cumbre Vieja ist geprägt von jungen Vulkanen.
Das Bild entstand auf dem oberen Kraterrand des jüngsten Vulkans Teneguia (Ausbruch im Jahr 1971) mit Blick Richtung Norden auf den Vulkan San Antonio (Ausbruch 1677).
Das Panorama aus 8 vertikalen Bildern zeigt auch die Wetterphänomene der Insel La Palma, im Osten meist bewölkt, im Westen dagegen meist sonnig.

They still exist, these wonderfully blooming poppy meadows and fields. Sometimes discovering them is just a coincidence, like this one, because you could see it shining in the sun from almost 10 kilometers away.
Es gibt sie noch, diese herrlich blühenden Mohnwiesen und Felder. Manchmal ist es einfach Zufall, sie zu entdecken wie dieses hier, denn man konnte es von fast 10 Kilometer Entfernung in der Sonne leuchten sehen.

Der Zollamtssteg und die darunter liegende Zollamtsbrücke führen über den Wienfluss. Über die Zollamtsbrücke fährt die U-Bahn-Linie U4. Die Brücken sind im Jugendstil erbaut und dienten auch als Drehort im Film "Before Sunrise", der in Wien spielt.

The Zollamtssteg ('customs office bridge') and the Zollamtsbrücke below it cross the Wienfluss ('Vienna River'). The U4 underground line runs over the Zollamtsbrücke. The bridges are built in Art Nouveau style and were also used as a film location in the movie "Before Sunrise", which is set in Vienna.

Das ehemalige Stationsgebäude der Wiener Stadtbahn vom Architekten und Stadtplaner Otto Wagner (1841 – 1918) am Karlsplatz ist ein wunderschöner Jugendstilpavillon. Heute kann man dort eine Ausstellung zum Leben und Werk Otto Wagners besichtigen.

The former station building of the Vienna City Railway by architect and urban planner Otto Wagner (1841 - 1918) on Karlsplatz is a beautiful Art Nouveau pavilion. Today you can visit an exhibition on the life and work of Otto Wagner there.

That evening, on the drive back from the coast to our holiday apartment, I saw this light in the rearview mirror, and we were just reaching a small bridge over the Schagen-Kolhorn Canal. A quick stop behind the bridge, camera out, and a few quick photos...the unplanned pictures are often the best.

Abends auf der Rückfahrt von der Küste zu unserer Ferienwohnung sah ich dieses Licht im Rückspiegel und wir erreichten gerade eine kleine Brücke über den "Kanaal Schagen-Kolhorn". Ein kurzer stop hinter der Brücke, Kamera raus und schnell noch ein paar Fotos...die ungeplanten Bilder sind oft die besten.

Die Postsparkasse am Georg-Coch Platz im 1. Bezirk ist ein Jugenstilgebäude, das von 1904 – 1906 von Otto Wagner erbaut wurde. Die Fassade ist mit quadratischen Marmortäfelchen und Aluminiumapplikationen belegt, die an einen Geldspeicher erinnern sollen.

The Post savings bank on Georg-Coch Platz in the 1st district is a Art Nouveau building built by Otto Wagner between 1904 and 1906. The façade is covered with square marble panels and aluminium applications, which are supposed to remind of a money bin.
ENG: Good morning Berlin! When the city awakens and the eyes finally discover snow, winter is finally in Berlin. Now I'm finally off work and enjoy the scenario at the world time clock at Alexanderplatz in Berlin's Mitte district.
GER: Guten Morgen Berlin! Wenn die Stadt erwacht und die Äuglein endlich Schnee entdecken, dann ist auch endlich Winter in Berlin. Nun hab ich endlich Feierabend und genieße das Szenario an der Weltzeituhr am Alexanderplatz im Berliner Bezirk Mitte.
Strolling over our camping place we discover many little gardens, flowers and fruit trees as well.
It's a wonderful time to enjoy nature and talk to other people of different towns.

Northern plains gray langur
The northern plains gray langur (Semnopithecus entellus) is a species of primate in the Cercopithecidae family. It is found in India on the lowlands north of the Godavari and Krishna rivers and south of the Ganges. It is thought to be introduced to western Bangladesh by Hindu pilgrims on the bank of the Jalangi River. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Entelle, Langur, Houleman
Le Semnopithèque entelle (Semnopithecus entellus) est une espèce de primate de la famille des Cercopithecidae qui vit dans le sous-continent indien.
Ce singe est surtout connu sous le nom générique d'Entelle ou de Langur, mais ces termes sont ambigus car ils désignent de nombreuses espèces de primates qui lui sont apparentées. On l'appelle également Entelle d'Hanuman, Entelle des Indes (ou Entelle de l'Inde), Langur sacré, Langur gris ou encore Houleman.

Voor-Indische hoelman
De Voor-Indische hoelman (Semnopithecus entellus) of Hanumanlangoer is een zoogdier uit de familie van de apen van de Oude Wereld (Cercopithecidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd door Dufresne in 1797.
Het voedsel van deze langoeren bestaat voornamelijk uit bladen, vruchten, knoppen en jonge loten. Ze eten ook mineraalrijke aarde, zodat ze ook de nodige zouten binnenkrijgen. Hun meerkamerige maag is aangepast om dit soort voedsel te kunnen verteren.

Having a pleasant walkabout among the monkeys
You’ll find more monkeys on the loose on the Monkey Tree path. You really get very close to the monkeys between the treetops! What's more, there is a very special type of monkey on the loose here: the douroucouli. These night monkeys live in special night accommodation. If you want to spot them, you must first let your eyes get used to the dark and then follow the noises. You’ll meet the largest monkeys on the loose in Apenheul, the Bengal Hanuman langurs, almost at the end of the route and you'll find small dwarf monkeys all over Apenheul.

Weitere freilaufende Affen kann man vom Affenbaumpfad aus beobachten. Hier, hoch oben zwischen den Baumwipfeln, befindet man sich fast Auge in Auge mit den Affen! Und hier lebt auch eine sehr spezielle, freilaufende Affenart: die Doeroecoeli. Diese Nachtaffen wohnen in einer speziellen Nachtunterkunft. Sobald sich Ihre Augen an das Dunkel gewöhnt haben, können Sie einfach den Geräuschen folgen und diese Tiere beobachten. Fast am Ende der Route treffen Sie auf die größte freilaufende Affengattung von Apenheul: die Bengalischen Hanuman-Languren. Und an verschiedenen Stellen in Apenheul laufen kleine Zwergaffen frei herum.

Gestern Morgen herrschten außergewöhnlich klare Sichtbedingungen, und der Mond stand noch hoch am Himmel. Ideale Voraussetzungen, um seine feinen Oberflächendetails einzufangen.
Die Aufnahme entstand mit einem 2-fach-Extender bei 1200 mm Brennweite. Es lohnt sich, das Bild zweimal weiter zu vergrößern, um die Strukturen und Feinheiten der Mondoberfläche noch besser erkennen zu können.
Viel Freude beim Entdecken der Details! 🌙 .

Yesterday morning, visibility was exceptionally clear, and the Moon was still high in the sky. These were ideal conditions for capturing the fine details of its surface.
The photo was taken with a 2x extender at a focal length of 1200 mm. It’s worth zooming in twice more to get an even better look at the structures and fine details of the Moon’s surface.

Verzaubert von der Schönheit der Wüste Gobi, wählte DULGUUN Batbold das Ger, eine mongolische Nomadenjurte, als Thema für
sein Kunstwerk, um dessen geometrische Struktur zu zeigen, die perfekt an die
rauen Bedingungen der Wüste angepasst ist. Indem er reflektierende und transpa-
rente Materialien verwendet, um Komponenten der Jurte zu ersetzen, erforscht
er die menschliche Natur und ihre Interaktion mit der Umwelt und stellt
eine Verbindung zur Verehrung des Himmels, der Berge und des Wassers in der
Nomadenkultur her. Er sagt, dass der Mensch versucht, seine innere Welt zu
entdecken, wenn er sein Spiegelbild betrachtet.
Enchanted by the beauty of the Gobi region, DULGUUN Batbold chose the ger, a Mongolian nomadic yurt, as the subject for his art-
work, to showcase its geometrical structure that is perfectly adapted to with-
stand the harsh conditions of the desert. By using reflective and transparent
materials to replace components of the ger, Batbold explores human nature and
its interaction with the environment, bridging the connection to the worship of
the sky, mountains and water in the nomadic culture. He says that when one
gazes upon their reflection, they seek to discover their inner world.

Am 23. März 2026 wurde ich bei Hermannspiegel von folgender Leistung überrascht: Der farbliche Exot 111 017 von smart rail beförderte den Max Bögl Zementzug DGS 55903 von Neumünster Gbf nach Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz und kam dazu noch erstaunlicherweise auf dem Gegengleis durchgefahren. Das farbenfrohe Design der Lok war ursprünglich für den Einsatz vor den Helrom KLV-Zügen erdacht worden, wozu es dann allerdings nie kam. Der Bundesbahn-Klassiker trägt darüber hinaus noch den Namen Veit Krausche - eine Erinnerung an einen verdienten, aber früh verstorbenen Mitarbeiter. Der sogenannte Max Bögl Zug verband die Werke in Neumarkt und Neumünster einmal in der Woche. Transportiert wurden damit Materialien zur Herstellung von Beton. Mit den typischen gelben Bulk-Containern und der Bespannung mit Loks der Baureihe 111 war der Zug sehr interessant und fotogen. Allerdings scheint es diese Verbindung nicht mehr zu geben, aktuellere Aufnahmen davon konnte ich bisher nicht entdecken.
On 23 March 2026, I was surprised by the following sight at Hermannspiegel: the colourfully distinctive 111 017 from smart rail was hauling the Max Bögl cement train DGS 55903 from Neumünster Gbf to Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate and, astonishingly, passed through on the opposite track. The locomotive’s colourful design had originally been conceived for use at the head of the Helrom freight trains, although this never actually came to pass. This classic Bundesbahn locomotive also bears the name Veit Krausche – a tribute to a valued colleague who passed away prematurely. The so-called Max Bögl train connected the factories in Neumarkt and Neumünster once a week. It was used to transport materials for the production of concrete. With its characteristic yellow bulk containers and hauled by Class 111 locomotives, the train was a very interesting and photogenic sight. However, this service no longer appears to exist; I have not yet been able to find any more recent photographs of it.

DULGUUN Batbold, Mongolei/Mongolia

Verzaubert von der Schönheit der Wüste Gobi, wählte DULGUUN Batbold das Ger, eine mongolische Nomadenjurte, als Thema für
sein Kunstwerk, um dessen geometrische Struktur zu zeigen, die perfekt an die
rauen Bedingungen der Wüste angepasst ist. Indem er reflektierende und transpa-
rente Materialien verwendet, um Komponenten der Jurte zu ersetzen, erforscht
er die menschliche Natur und ihre Interaktion mit der Umwelt und stellt
eine Verbindung zur Verehrung des Himmels, der Berge und des Wassers in der
Nomadenkultur her. Er sagt, dass der Mensch versucht, seine innere Welt zu
entdecken, wenn er sein Spiegelbild betrachtet.
Enchanted by the beauty of the Gobi region, DULGUUN Batbold chose the ger, a Mongolian nomadic yurt, as the subject for his art-
work, to showcase its geometrical structure that is perfectly adapted to with-
stand the harsh conditions of the desert. By using reflective and transparent
materials to replace components of the ger, Batbold explores human nature and
its interaction with the environment, bridging the connection to the worship of
the sky, mountains and water in the nomadic culture. He says that when one
gazes upon their reflection, they seek to discover their inner world.

Peek a Boo Slot Canyon at the Grand Staircase National Monument, one of the many scenic highlights you can experience as a hiker in the Hole in the Rock Road area near Escalante, Utah.
In the morning, the interior of the canyon glows in a magnificent red-orange light. Today, however, I felt like a monochrome version.
Taubental (Güvercinlik Vadisi)
Am Ortsrand von Uçhisar führt ein Weg hinunter ins Taubental (Güverçin Vadisi). Durch ein grünes Tal, neben einem kleinen, aber schmutzigen Bach, wandern wir zwischen Tuff-Felswänden entlang. Überall sind Höhlen mit Fluglöchern für die Tauben. Manche sind auch hübsch bemalt. Immer wieder entdecken wir neue Ausblicke und Fotomotive.

On the outskirts of Uçhisar a path leads down into the Pigeon Valley (Güverçin Vadisi). Through a green valley, next to a small but dirty stream, we walk along tuff cliffs. Everywhere are caves with holes for the pigeons. Some are also pretty painted. Again and again we discover new views and photo opportunities.

Als Herzog Otto der Strenge 1292 die Stadt Celle nach seinen Plänen anlegen ließ, entstand auch das Rathaus am Markt.
Das Gebäude ist eindrucksvolles Zeugnis der Herzog-Herrschaft. Es wurde im 14. und 16. Jahr-hundert ausgebaut und reich verziert. Der Nordgiebel ist ein Meisterwerk der Weserrenaissance. Im Ratskeller befinden sich noch immer gotische Kreuzgewölbe.

Die jenigen, die Bücher über Fotografie lesen, werden dieses Motiv sicher kennen. Es bedeckt die Titelseite des angeblich meist verkauften Fotobuches der Welt. Wisst ihr welches Buch ich meine? Mir hat es geholfen und so musste ich dort hin.
Hard drive find from one of the most remote places in the American Southwest in new processing:
In the late afternoon, after 61 miles (98 km) of gravel road, we reached Toroweap Point on the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
In the picture above the view is over the Colorado River gorge to the Southrim.

am späten Nachmittag erreichten wir nach 98 km Schotterpiste den Toroweap Point am Nordrand des Grand Canyon.
