Pacific National's MW2 (once dedicated) steel train produced the eyecatching combination of four different classes of locomotive today. NR18, in the one-of yellow Indian Pacific livery, led 93, DL and 81 class locos. The train was checked, within the Goulburn railway station limits, thus allowing a second photo, as it crossed the Mulwaree Ponds viaduct.

Looking past the loch you can see Orkney's highest two hills - Ward Hill and Cuilags - both of which are on the north-west corner of Hoy Island.

Eyecatching MILF in slimfit jeans, nice top and blazer. Having beautiful long hair, nice makup and pink colored nails. Walking in awesome classy stiletto pumps having a 4-5inch high heel with black to red color gradient, while her boyfriend is wearing comfy sneakers :D

She was walking very well, which could indicate that she was used to her sexy shoes. I saw them a couple of times and saw no struggleing.

I am always wondering why women wearing high heeled shoes to a tradeshow, which means much walking and standing. Do they want to compete with the trade show hostess to impress their boyfriends? In this case, at least for her footwear, she was beating the hostess girls :)

I have always desired to visit South Stacks in late summer as the heather blooms. Most of the seabirds have left by then but I wanted to see the heather bloom. The area turns from green into a purple landscape. However, I could not imagine there would be yellow splashes to the purple too. I wish the sky was blue and the sea still so we would have deep rich purple, yellows and blues.

About South Stack Cliffs

Enjoy a close-up view onto a wonderful cliff-side nesting colony, with binoculars and telescopes provided. You'll be able to watch guillemots, razorbills and puffins all raising their young, while live television pictures give you an even closer view of the nests! Rare choughs can also be seen on the reserve.

In spring and summer, the heathland becomes a riot of colour. Look closely and you may see a basking adder, while out to sea there may be porpoises and dolphins.

Opening times

The RSPB reserve is open year round; Ellins Tower, the RSPB visitor centre, is open from Easter to September.

Entrance charges

Free, but donations to help us continue our work here are welcome.

If you are new to birdwatching...

This reserve is good for birdwatching in the summer only.

Information for families

Some interactive materials in Ellins Tower Information Centre.

Information for dog owners

Some access for dogs. Please contact the reserve office for more information

Star species

Our star species are some of the most interesting birds you may see on your visit to the reserve.

Chough

The chough is the rarest member of the crow family in the UK. They can be found feeding in fields around South Stack, probing for invertebrates with their curved, red bill.

Guillemot

Guillemots look ungainly when they shuffle around on their nesting ledges on the cliffs, but underwater their streamlined shape comes into its own and they become agile and manoeuvrable.

Peregrine

Keep an eye out for a commotion among birds on the cliffs - a peregrine may be making a fly past. They are a regular sight overhead when a pair is nesting in the area.

Puffin

Enjoy the comical antics of puffins in spring and early summer from the viewing points on the cliffs. Watch the adults returning from fishing forays at sea with sandeels hanging from their colourful beaks.

Razorbill

Very similar to guillemots, razorbills spend most of their lives at sea in the Atlantic, only coming to land to breed between March and July.

Seasonal highlights

Each season brings a different experience at our nature reserves. In spring, the air is filled with birdsong as they compete to establish territories and attract a mate. In summer, look out for young birds making their first venture into the outside world. Autumn brings large movements of migrating birds - some heading south to a warmer climate, others seeking refuge in the UK from the cold Arctic winter. In winter, look out for large flocks of birds gathering to feed, or flying at dusk to form large roosts to keep warm.

Spring

Marvel at the wildflowers including kidney vetch, thrift and scurvey grass amid the cliff top grassland and heathland. Particularly eyecatching is the spring squill, which carpets areas of heathland that have recently been burnt. Look out for stonechats and linnets perched on top of bushes and listen out for the first skylarks. As spring takes hold, watch out for choughs and ravens collecting material to build their nests and don't miss the breeding seabirds crammed onto the narrow ledges on the cliffs in front of Ellins Tower.

Summer

Ellins tower provides excellent views of the seabird city with guillemots, razorbills, puffins, fulmars and gulls. Try to spot razorbill and guillemot chicks on the narrow cliff ledges, but don't leave it too late as these seabirds will be leave for the open ocean in July. Listen for the distinctive calls of choughs. They will be active gathering food for their ever growing young. Look out for the endemic spatulate fleawort amongst the cliff top grassland where you might be lucky and see an adder basking in the sun. Search out the rare silver-studded blue butterflies amid the shorter heathland.

Autumn

The heathland will be ablaze with colour as the mauves and purples of the heather flowers mingle with yellow gorse flowers. Look out for family groups of choughs. You will probably hear them first as the newly-fledged youngsters beg noisily for food from their parents. In the tidal races just offshore, look out for feeding gannets, passing shearwaters, porpoises and dolphins.

Winter

Look out for flocks of feeding choughs. These comprise of the newly-independent first year birds along with sub-adult birds from the last couple of years. A good place to search them out is the RSPB managed farmland (from the permissive path). This land is managed to provide foraging opportunities for chough throughout the year. Listen and look out for ravens as they begin to display, a sure sign that spring is round the corner.

Spectacular views of the breeding seabird colonies from Ellins Tower visitor centre (open Easter to September) with binoculars and telescopes provided.

Nature trails

The South Stack reserve is very popular with visitors for many reasons. Visitor activity is concentrated around Ellins Tower (the RSPB information centre), where the paths are maintained to a higher standard than elsewhere on the reserve. The heathland areas and their network of paths are open to the public (on foot) at all times. These paths cross a mix of coastal and heathland terrain and some pass close to cliff edges. There are no specific RSPB trails, but the route of the Ynys Gybi circular walk and the Isle of Anglesey Coastal footpath are waymarked along with the routes of the public footpaths. The nature of the terrain makes many of the paths steep and rocky, making access difficult for anyone with impaired mobility. However, a well-surfaced, high-quality 2 m wide track with benches runs from the RSPB car park (complete with three disabled parking bays) into the heathland and onto a viewpoint in front of Ellins Tower. Access to Ellins Tower is via a steep flight of stairs. The permissive path through the farmland connects the two areas of heathland. This path is open to the public (on foot) at all times (except 10 December each year). Grazing animals are present, so please take care and keep dogs under close control. Access to the Isle of Anglesey Council's 'South Stack Island and the Lighthouse' visitor attraction is via approximately 400 steps of variable rise and tread width down the cliff (not part of the RSPB reserve).

Accessibility

The majority of visitor activity at the RSPB South Stack nature reserve is concentrated around Ellins Tower, the RSPB information centre, and occurs during the summer months. South Stack reserve comprises a mix of coastal and heathland terrain with steep sea cliffs which support breeding seabirds.

Nature trails

The nature of the terrain makes many of the paths steep and rocky making access difficult for anyone with impaired mobility. In view of the visitor pressure, the paths in the vicinity of Ellins Tower are maintained to a higher standard than elsewhere on the reserve.

The most accessible path for people of impaired mobility runs from the RSPB car park into the heathland and onto a viewpoint in front of Ellins Tower. The track is well-surfaced and high quality (2 m wide) with benches and leads from three marked disabled car-parking bays in the RSPB car park.

Visitor centre

From Easter to September, Ellins Tower is open daily from 10 am to 5.30 pm. Access to Ellins Tower, which is a Grade 2 Listed castellated folly near to the cliff edge, is via a steep flight of stairs. Views of the dramatic seascape and some of the breeding seabird colony can be gained from the viewpoint by those who are unable to gain access to Ellins Tower.

Our work here

Our South Stack reserve on Anglesey comprises heathland, farmland and offshore stacks and caves. The RSPB is managing these habitats for the benefit of their breeding seabirds and choughs, as well as a wide variety of other fauna and flora. We are also working to provide an excellent wildlife and landscape experience for visitors.

Chough haven

The reserve is especially important for its breeding choughs, with our nine pairs representing 2% of the UK population. We are maintaining the heathland and farmland to provide suitable nesting and feeding conditions for this rare bird.

Healthy heath

The reserve’s heathland is part of the largest area of maritime heath in North Wales. Besides choughs, this important habitat supports the endemic plant spatulate fleawort, and the uncommon silver-studded blue butterfly, plus adders, common lizards and a range of other flora and fauna. Controlled burning helps us to manage this habitat for the benefit of all its wildlife.

Seabird spectacular

The sea cliffs provide nest sites for around 4,000 seabirds, including puffins, guillemots, razorbills and fulmars. Other birds to use this habitat include peregrines and ravens. We are monitoring our seabird populations and working to minimise any disturbance to the colony.

Visitor value

The scenic beauty of the reserve, together with its seabird spectacle, operational lighthouse, and many sites of geological and archaeological interest, make it very popular with visitors. Around 35,000 people visit our information centres each summer.

We are maintaining and enhancing our facilities, including our visitor centre at Ellins Tower and our network of paths. We are also providing more information to help people to get the most from their visit, while promoting the aims of the RSPB. We run seven events per year and encourage an active volunteer programme.

Community care

South Stack is a major tourist attraction on Anglesey and plays a significant part in the local economy. We will continue to advertise the site to enhance the flow of tourist income to the island and, where possible, will support local communities and business in developing the reserve.

Quite an eyecatching livery on this Volvo coach belonging to Kings Ferry, which was seen on Park Lane in London.

This colourful mural, which extends a bit further off to the left, was a creation by artist, Christi Tims.

On 26 April 2024, I managed a short drive SE of Calgary. Thought I had better make the most of clear roads before the bad weather arrives. All familiar, much-travelled roads this time, around the Frank Lake area and while heading back home.

I bumped into a huge group of people who were on a special outing to Frank Lake, led by Greg Wagner, who takes care of the lake areas and does a tremendous job of recording every bird seen, all year round and for many years. Not just once a day, either! Yesterday, he was showing the participants the various viewing points around the lake and I happened to see the cars coming towards me along one of the roads. I turned around and caught up with them. They had just one more location to visit, but one had to drive on a rough, non-road to get there. I would have been almost the last person to get there if I had gone, with a long walk to get to the lake edge. I knew I couldn't do that, with painful sciatica or bursitis in my right side, so I continued on my own journey. Good to see you, Greg, even if for just a few moments.

A bit of information about Greg:

ebird.org/region/CA/post/greg-wagner-march-ebirder-of-the...

So many birds in the area are far, far away - and I still don't possess a pair of binoculars after about 18 years of birding! (By the way, the birding blind area at Frank Lake is still extremely flooded.) However, I was happy to spend a bit of time watching and taking a few photos of the closer birds on my way home. Mainly Yellow-headed and Red-winged Blackbirds, plus a few Coots and European Starlings. At one point, there was an absolute frenzy of a group of Starlings and both species of Blackbirds on the ground, all mixed together. I had to take a bit of video, through the windscreen so poor quality.

This image gives the perspective of hugeness of Geiranger fjord - These large cruise ships making a stay in Geiranger just to enjoy the surroundings. This place really is heaven on earth. This is first time I visited Geiranger, hopefully not the last.

Outside the hotel room near Aberdeen in Scotland, there were many bunnies on the lawn each morning. I managed to capture a picture of this one before he scurried into the undergrowth.

Summer evening along the Grand River in Cambridge, Ontario, reminds us that scenes from The Handmaid's Tale were shot here.

Bold woman in stylish black outfit stands confidently against vibrant abstract backdrop.

A woman with striking red hair poses confidently in a black leather outfit. The dynamic abstract background features colorful swirls and splashes of paint, creating an energetic atmosphere with the effect of her red hair seemingly flowing into the painting.

# 🎨 *The Painting in the Artist*

In a gallery tucked between the steel veins of the city, where concrete met canvas and neon flirted with nostalgia, she stood—unapologetically bold, a living brushstroke against a riot of color. Her name was Sera, and she wasn’t just in the painting. She was the painting.

Clad in a sleek black leather outfit that clung to her like a second skin, Sera’s presence was magnetic. Her red hair cascaded in waves, catching the gallery lights and seeming to bleed into the abstract backdrop behind her—an explosion of swirling color, splashes of electric blue, citrus orange, and fuchsia that danced like emotion made visible. The painting behind her was hers, but it was also her mirror.

She had painted it in a fevered burst of self-expression, each stroke a declaration of defiance, each swirl a rebellion against conformity. The canvas was large, almost overwhelming, but it bowed to her presence. Viewers didn’t just admire the art—they felt it, as if her confidence had seeped into the pigments themselves.

Sera’s pose was deliberate: chin lifted, one hand on her hip, the other relaxed, fingers stained with dried paint. Her black jacket, tailored and edgy, framed her like punctuation in a sentence of color. She didn’t smile, but her eyes held a spark—an invitation to see not just the art, but the artist. Not just the woman, but the force.

Around her, the gallery buzzed with murmurs and admiration. Some called it street art elevated to high fashion. Others saw emotional depth in the chaos. But all agreed on one thing: Sera had turned the act of painting into performance, and the performance into portraiture.

She was the muse and the maker, the canvas and the color. In a world that often-demanded softness, she chose sharpness. In a culture that prized subtlety, she embraced spectacle. And in that moment, framed by her own creation, she reminded everyone that true artistry isn’t just about what you make—it’s about who you dare to be.

many thanks for all your visits, favs and comments

Wynwood, Miami was long referred to as Little San Juan; formerly an industrial area is has undergone major growth and regeneration and is now one of the most popular sites to visit in the heart of Miami. The area overflows with vibrant artwork, restaurants, breweries, clothing stores, dance and club venues and is highlighted by colourful murals that cover the walls of many of the buildings. Truly a feast for the eyes. It was and is, definitely on my 'must get back there' list.

The easily recognised British Rail “double arrow” logo dates from 1965. It is still used on buildings and staff uniforms to denote railway services across Great Britain. The commission for a new “trademark” was awarded to the graphic design firm DRU (Design Research Unit). Their lettering specialist Gerry Barney drew up the technical details from a concept sketch which showed twin rails with arrows pointing in opposite directions. In the graphic the top arrow is always shown pointing right. Less obvious is the fact that the outer diagonal lines are slightly tapered outwards at the open end. This compensates for the optical illusion of them appearing to thicken at the other end when drawn parallel. It’s a simple but eyecatching example of 1960s design detail in the built environment which still looks fresh and relevant today.

Relatives of a Mr. T W E Roche, a railway enthusiast of the time, claim that the “double arrow” concept was originally his submission, and was passed to DRU for typographical refinement.

Took these shots of some Kangaroo Paw flowers at the Edith Cowan University campus a couple of weekends ago. They are eyecatching. So bright. So yellow. So vivid. The sky was bright that morning. On a side note I was told by security that skateboarding was not allowed, even on a sunday when campus was empty. So Ive not returned since then. Scott Smith (Flickr) jokingly called me a delinquent.

Hello everyone this is the first image......the sneak peak, so to speak, of my next series ..... cant wait to start work properly on them.

This is a location that took a two hour drive to get too, then we had to get over the bog of eternal stench....after that we had to get across a small field with two extremely big bulls casually staring at us. Lucky we never wore red. Then after getting that far we had to then climb a 6ft fence complete with razor wire....... but no the fun dont stop there! Once we had got over that with limbs intact we then had to scale small shed to gain access to the actual grounds and slip in through a open door......... then avoid the 6ft drops of the fallen floor.... This is by far my favourite shoot, as the most exciting controversial ... and freaky locations I have shot within..... And I freaking loved it!!! ANd it is even more amazing when the person who owned this manor was the World famous poet John Milton, whom wrote the fantastic paradise lost.... to be in his home, within his world was a experience I will never forget.

you can add my photos as favourites you do not need to message me before, however please do not use my images or captions and poetry without my permission it is illegal and down right fucking rude!!

Edwin Georgi (1896 - 1964)

Circa 1948?

Read More about Edwin Georgi at the end of the Algonquin Roundtable recount..

****************************************************************

“We were telling stories, trying to guess if the tale told was fact or fiction. M… came up with this story, chilling in the way it was so wretchedly confessed to us. Most of us thought it was fact, but didn’t really want to believe it.

(read fact or fiction? At the end of the background section)

BACKGROUND

“Algonquin Round Table writers, a group of town wits who had converged on New York in the late 1910s. From their positions as columnists, essayists, and drama critics, this "all-star literary vaudeville," as Edmund Wilson called them, nourished a light, sharp, mocking tone aimed at well-known personalities, among whom they counted themselves. Wartime friends Franklin P. Adams, Harold Ross, Heywood Broun, and Alexander Woollcott were among the bantering quipsters who began meeting for daily lunches at the Algonquin Hotel. With so many clever wordsmiths, this self-named "vicious circle" soon became famous for its ingenious puns, quips, and insults appearing immediately in print in someone's column.”

The Algonquin Round Table was a celebrated group of New York City writers, critics, actors and wits. Gathering initially as part of a practical joke, members of "The Vicious Circle", as they dubbed themselves, met for lunch each day at the Algonquin Hotel from 1919 until roughly 1929. At these luncheons they engaged in wisecracks, wordplay and witticisms that, through the newspaper columns of Round Table members, were disseminated across the country.

"Their form of social media was just that: social. Imagine having the time every day to break for a couple hours to have lunch with your funny, intelligent friends? They didn’t post witty replies on Facebook. They said them face-to-face, such as the time Dorothy Parker was asked to use the word “horticulture” in a sentence: “You can lead a horticulture but you can’t make her think.” Was her quick response.

Daily association with each other, both at the luncheons and outside of them, inspired members of the Circle to collaborate creatively. The entire group worked together successfully only once, however, to create a revue called No Sirree! which helped launch a Hollywood career for Round Tabler Robert Benchley.

In its ten years of association, the Round Table and a number of its members acquired national reputations both for their contributions to literature and for their sparkling wit. Although some of their contemporaries, and later in life even some of its members, disparaged the group, its reputation has endured long after its dissolution.

**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

An elderly lady known to one of us was from the States, was visited with quite often before she passed on. She was a school chum of Tallulah and related this Roundtable tale told to her.

We would be quite interested to learn more of the story and possibly about the incident retold below. If anyone is aware of an occurrence similar to this one in or even outside of Pennsylvania please feel free to tell us about it.

Fact or Fiction?

As Related to Emily over afternoon Tea one spring day……..

“We were playing a game, telling each other stories, and then trying to guess if the story was fact or fiction. Darling Harpo had suggested playing it after the reaction he had received for mischievously calling out a distraught Bea on the facts for a bit of society gossip she had been relating….”

“ We gone midway round the circle, and When challenged, M… came up with this story, chilling in the way it was so wretchedly confessed to us. Most of us thought it was fact, but didn’t really want to believe it had occurred. “

“I give the story as best I can through memory, only ever hearing it the one time years ago now. I believe I have captured its’ essence, but I could never in words captured the tortured look, or trembling manner that was shown when it was told before the group. All I can say is, either way; it was a masterful performance….”

The Confession ( story):

M lit a cigarette, and after sending a few wisps of smoke up to dance upon the ceiling, began the tale…

“I have done may things in my life I have later regretted, but this one, in particular, I have never told a living soul until now….” Drawing a deep breath, the story was continued.

“I have always had a curious streak to observe people’s reactions when in various situations. To get a better grasp of how my characters should act. It greatly piqued me to watch, without being seen, a person’s true emotions coming into play. Ralph Waldo Emerson once famously quoted that “ People do not seem to realize that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character” ... and that intriguing thought was what originally sent me on my quest..

Sometimes I was the protagonist behind the scenes whom, unbeknownst to the victims, had set them up. Sometimes I just followed and watched their behavior. I never intended for anyone to get hurt, emotionally or physically. But sometimes they did! Then I would solace my conscience by telling it that I was only doing it to improve upon my craft. But, then this one time, I probably did go a little bit too far….”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Sends a few more puffs of his cigarette wafting in smoky curls upwards as if in thought on how to actually begin…

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

“As a young man I would attend all different sorts of functions from all different levels of society to come up with ideas. I ran the gauntlet, from cock fights, hobo’s gathering around a campfire, to a wedding reception worthy of the Rockefellers. I noticed that I felt more at home with the hobos, than the fat cats. A condition, I am sure, caused by some flaw in my character. “

“But this instance, the function I encountered definitely belonged to the latter, Rockefeller fat cat , set.

The event, I soon learned, was the Homecoming of a small private College in a wealthy Pennsylvania community. Not my Alma Mater, but just a place I happened to be passing through which I had stopped whilst traveling home. “

“That there was a function going on in that little place was not hard to miss; the attendees were pouring out onto the streets from all sorts of establishments, and into others, including the bar I was holed up in. After a while I noticed a change in dress of the revelers costumes. School blazers and sensible dresses began to be replaced by tuxes and swishing satin gowns and colourful frocks. Their adornments also changed, from school ties to bow ties, Boaters (straw hats) to top hats for the men: Gold jewelry was replaced by sparkling necklaces and rings upon gloved hands for the ladies.”

“Another change was, that by then, the lot of them was pretty much plastered, but then, so was I!”

“ Finally I was flushed out of my hiding spot , and went for a walk outside to escape the noisy crowd.

I started to circle the upper portion of a large rural park that ran next to my late hiding spot. As I strolled, I noticed a man with a heavy coat and cap, rather sinisterly watching the crowd, standing against a tree just up ahead of me. When he saw me coming towards him, he turned down a path leading into the shadowy depths of the woods. I watched him go down for a minute, and observed that it led down to a small valley, where in the middle, surrounded by trees, stood a quite deserted football field. The path less traveled tonight, I thought to myself.

I kept to the path well-travelled however, and soon after turning a corner, came upon a young couple snogging on a bench. I stopped to watch, my mind racing with a mixture of drink inspired contemplations upon the little scene before me! “

“She was dolled up like a picture actress. Wearing a slithery glossy red gown that shined in the gas lamps pooling light, with matching gloves and a shimmering gold purse, she was a breathing Pygmalion . The jewels she was adorned with, rhinestones, I assumed, glittered happily as she moved. He was in a tux, an Errol Flynn moustache and gold watch chain and fob at his waist. They had no idea anyone was near them! Of course, Then, my cursed foot gave me away all too soon, as it stepped upon a twig, snapping it loudly, calling the couples attention to my peeping. Seeing me they got up and walked past me, snooty noses up in the air. She made a rude noise that would have better fitted an old mare in a barn. Well pardon my eyes I though, stinging from the obvious smite upon my character, which I always had held in high regard. Why dress in that manner and think no one deserves to take notice unless they meet with your approval? The princess was obviously not amused…”

“ I watched with disdain, and then , still transfixed, followed at a discreet distance as they walked back the way I had come. For some reason I was mesmerized by the pair of snobs, watching as they moved, her red gown swishing and swirling like a red waterfall upon the paved stones. They were holding closely onto one another, once again totally oblivious to their surroundings. There was a story there, if only…. “

“They stopped, and I went into the shadow of a tree. Looking back up the path they had come, I thought they may have seen my shadow. For they then looking again to each other, she murmured something and they turned down the very path, the path less travelled, that the heavy coated man had slinked away down. I felt maybe I should have run up and cautioned them against taking that path, but I was still stung by their rude reaction… Besides, I was rather curious to see if anything would happen.

In for pence, in for a pound I remember repeating to myself, as I discreetly continued my stalk.”

“I went into the shadows, seeing a large set of rocks beside the path I climbed up, getting a view of the path winding down into the small valley. I was just above a gas lamp that lit the path as it reached the valley floor below. The lamps lite effectively shadowed the rock whence I was perched. I could see the pair walking in and out of the shadows of the trees. Just as they reached the circle of light below me they stopped and embraced. I watched, totally unabashed.

Then, as I grew bored, or maybe my drink induced fog was started to clear my mind back to reality, I slowly started to make an exit stage right , when a shadow detached itself from a tree directly below me. I stayed mute and froze in my tracks, watching the event I knew was going to occur, began to unfold. The man’s shadowy figure approached the oblivious couple carefully, I could see his head jerking about making sure that the couple was alone, and unprotected. Picking up a chunk of wood he entered the circle of light, which now formed a small stage where a tragedy worthy of Shakespeare was most likely about to unfold!”

“I watched as the startled lovers became aware and tried to stare down the newcomer.

Now in the light, I could see He had shed his coat and gained a mask, but it was definitely the same sinister man I had seen earlier, obviously up to no good. The Errol Flynn wannabe put the girl behind him in defense, the masked man merely raised branch and whacked him on the side of his head, it broke with a sickening crunch, and her gallant defender went down like a sack of cement.

The sinister figure then turned his attention to the now helpless damsel in distress. Raising a cupped hand up he said something in a raspy voice that startled her. Apparently he was asking for her jewels, and the horror struck damsel had arrogantly not yet realized she was being mugged. The ladies long earrings shimmering as she shook her head no in response. The rings on her gloved fingers flashed as her hand went to her throat as she clearly cried out,” not my necklace”, in a hapless act of defiance. In my mind came a picture of a small kitten trying to defy a snarling wolf. She threw the gold purse at him, but he merely caught it, and placed it in his pocket. I remember feeling strangely detached, It may have been shock, but I found myself watching without one ounce of regret. The only thought I could remember was her glittering necklace, maybe they had not been rhinestones, which meant that she actually was wealthy and probably had been looking down her snooty nose upon me, like she probably did her own servants !!.

Well than she obviously did not desire my help, I decided, like she had quite rudely not desired my looking at her earlier… and after all , in her world, servants should be standing quietly in the background, seen but not heard. So, I decided that I wasn’t going to help unless absolutely life or death. Let the little lamb be trimmed of her rich wool I said to myself. She did show spunk, I will admit, but that’s all it was, a show. She went limp as he reached up, grabbing her hand away, than began pulling of the rings as she stood mute with disbelief. The diamond bracelet was wrenched unceremoniously from her wrist. Dropping her hand, he pocketed her rings and bracelet. Than he once again went for her necklace, and she backed up, shaking her head, earrings again shimmering as the pair innocently bounced away from her long hair. Then I saw a flash of silver in his hand, and she fainted dead away at the sight of his ugly blade…”.

“The masked man knelt over to her fallen body. The shiny red gown had spilled around her on the ground, Laying about her inert svelte figure like a pool of red lava. Reaching down and in he claimed her necklace, grasping it up and away from her throat. He looked at it for a few seconds, letting it sparkle in the moon’s light like slivery falling rain.

Then squatting beside her, he pulled away her hair, and yanked her taunting earrings free. He methodically felt along her figure, missing nothing. Then he again produced the knife, slicing off the brooch from her gown’s sash.

He pulled off her red high heels and threw tem deep into the woods.

Then he left her and went over to the unconscious escort, the bloody limb next to him” in quick, precise fashion, ‘Errol’s’, watch chain and fob were pulled free and pocketed. Then he reached in and pulled out the unlucky devils pocket book. Then pulling off ‘Errol’s’ shoes they soon joined the ladies high heels.

Arising calmly, he slowly looked around as he stowed the stolen articles and his knife away. He spent a split second longer on the area I was hidden, causing a shiver to make itself felt! Then, removing the mask he walked to where his long coat lay, and reclaiming it, he continued serenely on his way down the path. I watched in heavy silence as he disappeared in the woods, only to reappear by the football field. It was then that I stole away back up the path, careful not to be seen.”

“And no, I did not give any cry of alarm, did not involve myself by seeking or giving the hapless couple aid. I simply turned and left. I came away with nothing, no ideas, no new feelings for a character, just a sour taste in my mouth and an upset stomach, which I soon tried to relieve by stopping in at the next drinking establishment I came across. Beer didn’t help, so I switched to Scotch…!”

“ About an hour later I heard a siren and sensed commotion outside the confides of my prison. I did not go out to investigate.”

“After a fit less night of unrestful sleep, I left the next morning, daring not to read a paper, or stop there for breakfast ( having a late tea later a few hours away , I put the place and its memories to my back. “

“Ashamedly I did not render any assistance those poor souls, and I admit what I what I did was criminal.. But then in my defense , they ………………….., ”

“Yes?”

“It was at this point that the confession was interrupted by the appearance of a messenger boy sent for M….. Who took his leave, with a wicked smile that seemed to convey relief that an outcome of the story would not have to be faced?

Obliviously loving the mystery it created by the timely appearance of the messenger.” He never could be persuaded to return to his story only smiling that wicked little smile.

So, the worse of it was we never knew… because of the messenger boy’s interruption, never to learn to our satisfaction if the story was true or not..”

“How we all did hate that!”

There is some question as to the identity of M…. There are six members with M in their initial. It could have been a non-regular or even a nickname. If anyone else has heard of this tale, or could place a finger for us as to who M… may have been, we would welcome the enlightenment.

Edwin Georgi

(1896 - 1964)

A leader in the second wave of "pretty-girl" artists: more like pin-ups without actually being pin-ups. Largely self-taught, learning his way up in ad and art agencies. A pilot in WWI. Style ranged from simple, posteresque lines and colors to his more famous pointillist pieces with boldly directed light, a unique use of warm shadows, and sparkling colors. Ads for Webster Cigars, Woodbury, Ford Mercury, Crane paper, Yardley, The Italian Line. In-demand illustrator for Goldenbook Magazine, Fortune, Redbook, Woman's Home Companion, Cosmo, True, Esquire, Ladies' Home Journal,Saturday Evening Post, American Girl, Liberty.

Edwin Georgi was born in 1896 and died in 1964 at the age of 68. He was a pilot in WWI– though I was unable to gather details about his specific tour of duty. Upon returning from the war, he attended Princeton. Eventually he abandoned his education to pursue writing as a full time profession. He was very ambitious, but a turn of fate pushed him another way. He was hired on to write copy for an ad agency , but was persuaded by his employer that he would make a better painter than a writer. Thus his career in illustration began.

Remarkably, he was largely self-taught. He worked his way up the artistic food chain with experience at various ad groups and agencies. His work is known in several national publications; Cosmo, Esquire, Redbook, Ladies’ Home Journal, and The Saturday Evening Post.

Edwin’s style is striking. Very few artists exude the dynamic movement of color as he does. His paintings have a texture that is entirely unique– his staccato strokes seem akin to pointillism, and weave a mesh of breathtaking pallets . Most noir art is obsessed with light and shadow, but Edwin Georgi’s art oscillates betwixt hue and contrast.

Timeless style, authenticity and freedom of expression are the core values of Ray-Ban, a leader in sun and prescription eyewear for generations. From its debut in 1937 with the now-iconic Aviator model created for the American Air Force to today, Ray-Ban has maintained a unique cultural ...

This photo was taken on the shoreline a the Noust of Borwick - a relatively short distance north of the dramatic Yesnaby Cliffs. The cunningly balanced stones in the foreground had already been placed there by someone else.

Given their proximity to the High-Tide level, as well as the frequency of strong winds in Orkney I would not bet that very pleasing and interesting stone creation would be likely to survive very much longer!

That is one of Northlink's ferries and it now has a very striking and memorable Viking Logo!

It is berthed at its standard pier in Stromness Harbour in Orkney and regularly spends the night there. Its other regular port-of-call is Scrabster Harbour next to Thurso in Caithness.

This eyecatching portrait by LT66 caught my eye amongst the street art in the Seven Star Yard Pub car park on Brick Lane. Although smaller than it used to be as part of it has been built on there's usually a few gems tucked away here.

From London Street Art Design Magazine website, "A listed building and pub of significant standing in public house history. Local to a variety of ‘characters’ over hundreds of years, in recent times Seven Star Yard Pub grew in popularity when street artists and graffiti writers began drinking there. It’s rich history dates back to the 1700s, the Eastend was a world away from the diversity we see on the streets today.

It closed in 2002 and became a Hall of Fame of sorts for the artists plugged into its glorious history. Control over the walls was managed to some degree for a number of years before the floodgates opened to any artist wishing to express themselves. It helped for emerging artists the spot was off the Brick Lane graffiti street art trail. Boosts those social media rankings, and why not, all publicity is generally publicity. On a summers day the Seven Star Yard Pub Yard is visited by a few thousand people a day, if anything our numbers are way too low, but you get the drift, it’s a hotbed of street art graffiti. Here you’ll find an eclectic fusion of styles, mediums and ideas, fighting for space among the layered conceptions of artists far and wide." This bloom wasn't totally open yet, so I felt like a side view might prove more interesting.... Yellow is such an eyecatching cheerful color, but did you ever wonder how we are even able to perceive this color, since we don't have retinal cone receptors that correspond to yellow? Most of us have receptors for blue, green, and red, yet we are able to see yellow since that wavelength appears to stimulate red and green cone cells simultaneously. I don't know who came up with that explanation, and ironically, when I mix my artistic reds and greens, I come up with a black color. Confusing stuff; at least for me anyway, ha ha! :-):-)

Eyecatching timepiece.....so different.

It's very difficult to photograph the eyes of my daughter. So pretty they are and what she hides them.

Es muy difícil fotografiar los ojos de mi hija. Lo bonitos que son y lo que los esconde.
