I noticed I've been shooting directly into the sun a lot lately. I'm gonna go blind real quick someday. But I just loooove the effect~

The stage was set for another normal sunset view from the cliffs of Uluwatu. But in few moments the plan was spoiled by sudden presence of ominous clouds and thunder shower. Really in tropical countries weather can change so fast!!!
But it was a blessing in disguise as the sun, shower and clouds has put the sky on fire and another normal sunset has become an extraordinary one.
Dramatic effect in the shot was enhanced by tonemapping and digitally blending single RAW file and used layer masking in Photoshop.

Not far west of Cliff, this BNSF oil empty is headed west after meeting an eastbound BNSF manifest (the Provo-Denver) at Cliff. The train will now have clear signals until meeting the eastbound Zephyr, currently still quite a ways off over around Glenwood Springs.

built everything, well photographically at least. Great place with excellent cafe and visitors centre. This place is another reserved world of natural wonders nestled in amongst our modern pressures of life and living that often overlooks wildlife and the chance to be calmer and closer to land and water and to those that never left the cycle of seasonal lifestyle.

I did contemplate making this green instead but wanted to stick with the theme... Happy St. Patty's Day though :)
Castle Stalker is a picturesque castle built on a tidal islet in Loch Laich, an inlet of Loch Linnhe in Argyll, the Scottish Highlands, not far from Oban. It can only be reached by boat but its scenic setting makes it a very romantic location.

Description of Historic Place
The Charles R. Cole House is an ornate, two and one-half storey Queen Anne Revival style dwelling that typifies the fine homes being built for prominent Windsor citizens in the 1890s.
Located in central Windsor, it is recognized for its heritage value by City of Windsor Bylaw 34-2003.
Heritage Value
This building is a well-preserved example of the fine homes once built for prominent Windsor citizens in the 1890s. It is named for its association with carpenter/contractor Charles R. Cole who built the house for his family in 1891. Mr. Cole also owned a grocery store, served as an alderman and water commissioner, and was active in the Masonic Order. Tragically, he took his own life in 1903, being distraught over the death of his only daughter.
The Charles R. Cole House is an excellent example of a charming Queen Anne Revival style clapboard home. It is characterized by asymmetrical massing, a variety of roof forms, fine detailing and major decorative elements that have remained intact. The carved gingerbread on the gable ends, the ornate wrap-around porch with a crown of carved wooden spindles, and bay windows, which boast stained glass and ornately carved mullions all define the Queen Anne style and speak to the prominence of the owner at the time of building.
Character-Defining Elements
Key character defining elements that express the building's heritage value include its:
- asymmetrical massing;
- 2 ½-storey frame construction with clapboard cladding
- gingerbread mouldings on the gable ends
- bay windows with decorative carved mullions and transoms with brackets holding shallow mansard-style roofs
- stained glass windows in the front bay, entrance transom light, and porch façade
- curved wrap-around porch featuring moulded round columns and decorative wood brackets holding an open crown of carved wooden spindles
- complementary interior elements include inlayed hardwood floors, French doors and natural oak trim

The Arcola High Bridge, or Soo Line High Bridge, is the most spectacular railroad structure in the area, and even with saturation foaming the Twin Cities for the last couple of years, this was my first time even seeing it in person. Low train volume and relatively difficult access result in very few photos.
Completed in 1911, the rail's nearly 200 feet above the water, with a total length of roughly 2,700 feet. John Weeks has an excellent page with more information:

Big tip of the hat to Rod Peters, my new best friend, for the super helpful updates on this train's location. The shot wouldn't have happened without him.

Koh Nang Yuan is a small island located near Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand. It is known for its striking beauty, white sandy beaches and the unique narrow strip of white sand that connects the three small islands. This sandbar only appears at low tide and creates a picturesque view. Koh means "island" in Thai, and Tao refers to "turtle". The name is derived due to the presence of sea turtles in the waters surrounding the island. Like Koh Tao, Koh Nang Yuan is known for its excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities. The underwater world around the island is rich in coral reefs and various marine animals. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving and relaxing on the idyllic beaches. On Koh Tao you can encounter different types of soft corals, including fan corals and soft leather corals. Here you often find the famous Finding Nemo clownfish and other clownfish. They are often associated with sea anemones, in which they seek shelter from predators. The area is also home to various types of hard coral, such as brain coral, table coral and staghorn coral. You can find colorful parrotfish feeding on coral and algae. Reef sharks can be seen regularly here, especially during deeper dives. You can encounter different types of moray eels, such as the giant moray eel. Sea cucumbers, sea urchins and starfish: these marine invertebrates are found on the seabed. Several species of lobsters and crabs inhabit the cracks and holes in the reef. Sea turtles are the most iconic inhabitants of the waters around Koh Tao. You may encounter several species of sea turtles, including the green sea turtle and the hawksbill turtle.
Sea turtles are often seen on diving and snorkeling trips around Koh Tao island, and sometimes they even rest on the seabed or swim along the reef. An encounter with a friendly sea turtle in the water is an unforgettable experience. We came across a very old turtle with a shell length of up to 2 meters! Sea turtles can live more than 100 years. These gentle creatures are curious by nature and can sometimes come close to you, creating wonderful interactions. Sea turtles often exude a calm and tranquil grace as they glide through the water. Their slow, fluid movements can be hypnotic and convey a sense of peace. An encounter with a friendly sea turtle leaves a deep impression and makes you aware of the importance and conservation of marine animals in their habitat. It is a reminder of the fragility and beauty of the underwater world. Koh Nang Yuan is sensitive to the impact of tourism, and efforts are being made to preserve the island. Visitors are often encouraged to take back their waste and follow sustainable practices. It is important to respect local regulations to preserve the beauty of the island for future generations.
