An excellent way to start December — due to a S&C renewal in the Keyham area, the line between Plymouth and Liskeard was blocked and thus the sleeper was to be terminated at Plymouth and moved into Laira for the rest of the week. If there is a driver who signs the 08 spare, one will produce rather than running the 57 round, however this is rarely the case and the 08 has not usually appeared during similar previous alterations. Therefore I was on my tod here just after 7am as the first set of beds stock to terminate at Plymouth is seen here awaiting departure behind BR Blue 08644 ‘Laira Diesel Depot’. 57603 ‘Tintagel Castle’ was idling away on the rear.

He is a Sadhu not a Sikh. Because of his turban, beard and moustaches he looks like a Sikh but there is huge difference between a Sadhu and a Sikh. Sadhus Are Hindus and Sikhism itself is a different religion. In Hinduism, Sadhu is a common term for a practitioner of yoga and/or wandering monks.
The basic difference is 'Tilak' an auspicious mark of saffron and sandalwood paste on the forehead, You will not see this mark on any Sikh's forehead.

Believe it or not, millipedes can make excellent pets; they don't bite, they can't sting, and those kept in captivity can live up to 10 years

American Giant Millipede – 2020SEP27 – Charlotte, NC
Look what I found! A Giant Millipede, Narceus americanus: it grows twice as large as any other North American millipede, a cylindrical millipede (distinguished from flat millipedes), dark reddish-brown or black, a red line on each segmente edge; like all millipedes, they have 2 pairs of legs on most segments, rather than 1 pair of legs on each segment (like a centipede).
Does it bite? No (uniike a centipede). What about cyanide? Although not this species, some secrete hydrogen cyanide, quite poisonous. Remember, millipedes are toxic – but as long as they are not eaten, hands washed after touching them, they're pretty harmless; however, many have a defensive secretion, benzoquinone, that can cause chemical burns on human skin, generally mild, but powerful enough to cause temporary skin discoloration, itching, and blisters – some millipedes’ secretions are much more powerful, though.
The division of an animal into repeating body parts is called segmentation, clearly seen in millipedes, the word meaning “one thousand foot;” despite that name, millipedes with the most legs come up shy of the 1,000-leg mark, only about 750.
Hope you enjoy the 10% of 99 captures I took here this day!

Press L, as this is so much better big on black!
The Sierra high country is timeless. These granite mountains, these meadows, and even this tree sentinel have been here longer than I've been alive and will be here much longer after I am gone. They stand day after day, month after month, year after year. Not waiting for anything, not expecting anything. No deadlines, no schedules, no Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays.
If you spend enough time in the mountains, you begin to tap into that endless cycle. The feeling of "having to do something" slips away, along with pressures, schedules, and responsibilities. I don't know anything quite so pacifying and relieving as connecting with the stillness of the mountains.

Tech notes on this photo
-----------------------------------
Nikon D7000
Tokina 12-24 f/4 at 12mm
ISO100
f/9 - Sharpest spot on my lens, still adequate for full DOF with my crop sensor
1 sec.
Shady White Balance
Lee soft 3-stop GND filter
Post-Processing
----------------------
In Raw Converter (Nikon Capture NX2)
- Processed single raw file twice, once for sky and once for the foreground and tree
- Global contrast for added pop
- Local brightness/contrast adjustments to brighten tree, enrich the sky, add contrast to granite
In Photoshop:
- Manual blend of two tiffs for master composite using an initial gradient mask, refined using a luminosity mask to paint in tree detail in the sky
- Selective sharpening of the granite, the tree, and the mountains
- Soft light burn / dodge layer, burned granite slightly
- Curves layer to add a little more saturation and oomph to sky
- Color balance layer to remove slight excess warm tint
All the best!

Happy Tuesday my friends. Have a beautiful day. xoxo
Excellent views just prior to sunset. This was a very difficult three exposure blend, the mountains in the background where the most difficult to expose. Thanks for looking!

não direi
afora imagens
saudades
ou solidão
direi
mãos que se separam
olhos que não se vêem
direi
um corpo
dançando sem par
um par
de pegadas na areia
um beijo
de batom no espelho
cartas

vinho

olhos
em brasa
direi
as cinzas de um cigarro
não direi meus sentimentos
direi só o que sei que existe
não sou alegre nem Cecília
pus a emoção numa ilha
para me tornar poeta.

David and I went on a lighthouse cruise a few weeks back, out of Orient Point...
The day was glorious, but the wind on the top of the boat was horrible... I had to hold on for dear life to get these shots and thankfully we took our monopods for stability....
The Sea Jet... perfect name... went so fast and didn't really get close enough for a decent shot...
but it was a wonderful day in the sun and wind....
