ESP - Meloncillo (Herpestes ichneumon).

ENG - Egyptian mongoose (Herpestes ichneumon).

It is a mammal of both nocturnal and diurnal habits, is the protagonist of many of the stories based on the myth of the existence of a large and hairy snake, since when a female of mongoose moves with her cubs they are placed in a row one behind the other under the tail of the previous one, which gives them the appearance of a hairy snake crawling.

(Sorry, I do my best with my English, 🙏😅).

ENG: Fort Hahneberg, located on the western edge of Berlin (Spandau-Staaken), is considered one of the last Prussian-style fortifications in Germany. It was completed in 1888 after six years of construction and since the late 1990s can now be visited again partially restored. The visit is only possible with a guided tour, as the site is maintained and restored by an association. The price for the historical guided tour is relatively low per adult, however, for 7.50€ you get a lot offered in the approximately 90 minutes.

After its completion, the facility served until 1945, among other things, as barracks and central archive for military medicine, so it was mainly used for military purposes. During the Buchrucker Putsch on October 1, 1923, the fort, together with the Spandau Citadel, was briefly occupied by putschists who had to surrender to regular Reichswehr units. After the end of World War II, parts of the walls and structures built of bricks were broken out and taken away as building material for the reconstruction of Berlin. Until the fall of the Wall in 1989, the fort was located unused in the area of the barrier installations in the former East Berlin of the border crossing point Heerstrasse and has only been accessible to the public again since 1990 and was handed over to the association Arbeits- und Schutzgemeinschaft Fort Hahneberg e. V. in 1993.

[ENG] Santa María de Naranco is one of the most enigmatic and harmonious monuments of Western architecture. It is an old palace that was the Aula Regia of the palace complex that King Ramiro I (842-850) ordered to be built on the outskirts of the capital of the kingdom of Asturias. It was completed in the year 842. Its artistic style is the so-called Asturian or "ramirense" art, within the pre-Romanesque period. It functioned as a temple from the collapse of the chevet and part of the naves of San Miguel de Lillo (12th century) until its restoration in the years 1929-1934. It is located on the southern slope of Mount Naranco, about 4 km from Oviedo (Asturias, Spain). It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. Deutschland / Baden-Württemberg - Mainau

Mainau [ˈmaɪnaʊ] also referred to as Mav(e)no(w), Maienowe (in 1242), Maienow (in 1357), Maienau, Mainowe (in 1394) and Mainaw (in 1580) is an island in Lake Constance (on the Southern shore of the Überlinger See near the city of Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg, Germany). It is maintained as a garden island and a model of excellent environmental practices. Administratively, the island has been a part of Konstanz since December 1, 1971, when the municipality of Litzelstetten, of which Mainau was part, was incorporated into Konstanz. Mainau is still part of Litzelstetten, now one of 15 wards (administrative subdivisions) of Konstanz.

The island belongs to the Lennart Bernadotte-Stiftung (eng. The Lennart Bernadotte Foundation), an entity created by Prince Lennart Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg, originally a Prince of Sweden and Duke of Småland. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Lake Constance. Beside flowers there is a park landscape with views on the lake. There is a greenhouse as well with tropical climate and thousands of butterflies.

Mainau Bay is the location of their university's sailing club.

Geography

Position

The island averages out at a height between 395 metres (1,296 ft) (roughly equals the lake’s average medium water-level) and 425 meters (1,394 ft) above sea level. Its highest peak is located at the Großherzog-Friedrich Terrace (historic water reservoir). Mainau Island is 610 metres (2,000 ft) long from North to South and a 1,050 meters (3,440 ft) wide from West to East. The island’s circumference is about three kilometers (1.9 mi). The shortest distance between the downwelling molasse slice and the lake’s shore is about 130 meters (430 ft).

Population

Few people inhabit Mainau Island. Due to its small amount of inhabitants, it is considered a hamlet. Meyer’s Lexikon’s issue of 1888 declared that 28 people lived on Mainau Island. During the census of 1961, a population of 123 was verified. Count Björn Bernadotte is living in the castle on Mainau Island.

Parks and gardens

Mainau Island is a "flowering island" notable for its parks and gardens. Frederick I, Grand Duke of Baden, created the island's arboretum, which now contains 500 species of deciduous and coniferous trees, many exotic and valuable, including fine specimens of Sequoiadendron giganteum (1864) and Metasequoia glyptostroboides (1952). The island also contains about 200 rhododendron and azalea varieties.

Due to the advantageous climate at the lake, palm trees and other Mediterranean plants can grow on the drop-shaped island. Because of its rich subtropical and partly even tropical vegetation, Mainau Island is also called "flowering island in the Lake Constance". Count Lennart Bernadotte, who died in 2004, liked to call his island "Blumenschiff" (engl. flower ship). He also described the famous destination as follows: "She is a coquettish little Lady, Mainau Island, who constantly demands much attention, even more love and ceaselessly new clothes." - Lennart Bernadotte. By "new clothes", he probably meant the blossoms, plants and flower-beds which are constantly renewed by the gardeners.

Apart from the historic buildings, the centerpiece of Mainau Island is the Arboretum with its 500 different types of rare and valuable broad-leaved trees and conifers, which was created in 1856 by grand duke Friedrich I. Among those is one of Germany's "oldest" dawn redwood trees (Metasequoia glyptostroboides). The tree, which originated from China, was planted on the island in 1952, when it was just 70 centimeters (28 in) tall. Particularly mighty are some exemplars of the giant redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum). Their seeds came from California in 1853 and were planted on the island in 1864, which makes them one of the oldest of their kind in Europe. You can find the above-mentioned giant redwoods as well as Cedars, Dawn Redwoods and Tulip Poplars on the island. The Arboretum expands towards the north-west of the island.

Spring marks the beginning of the "Blumenjahr" (eng. Flower Year) with an exhibition of orchids. From March to May you can see several types of flowers in full bloom, like Tulips, Daffodils, Primroses, Forget-Me-Nots and Hyacinths. To show the full beauty of all these flowers the so-called „Frühlingsallee“ (eng. Spring Alley) was opened, which is a path across the island surrounded by beds of these plants. From May to June over 200 kinds of Rhododendrons and Azaleas are in full bloom. To the west of the "Comturey-Keller" you can find an Italian rose garden commissioned by Friedrich I. This rose garden is strictly geometric and consists of pergolas, sculptures and fountains. In general, over 1200 kinds of roses can be found on the island.

„Frühlingsallee“ leads to „Mediterran-Terrassen“ (eng. Mediterranean Terrace) where exotic plants such as palm families, agaves, cacti and bougainvillea are presented in pails during summer. Lake Constance and its surroundings as well as the Alps can be seen in a panoramic view from here. In July the blossoms of brugmansia and hibiscus are blooming on Mainau Island and in August the blossoms of passion flowers bloom.

On the southern end you can find “Südgarten” (eng. South Garden) where in autumn fields of dahlia with approximately 20,000 dahlia bushes and 250 varieties gleam from September until October. Spring and summer flowers such as different kinds of fuchsia are growing on the affiliated shore garden to the eastern side of “Südgarten”.

The “Bodenseerelief” (eng. Relief of Lake Constance) is a very popular photo motive. It is a relief with the picture of a flower which is changed by season. A small harbor with a landing place is situated to the northern side of Mainau Island. Excursion boats lay in here and another entrance to “Frühlingsallee” can be found here.

History

Until the Napoleonic mediatisations and secularisations of small German fiefs this island belonged to the Order of Teutonic Knights. It was later sold into private ownership. In 1853 Grand Duke Frederick I of Baden purchased the island as his personal property and used the palace built by the Teutonic Knights as summer palace. At the end of World War I Baden became a republic with the abdication of Grand Duke Frederick II, son of Frederick I. The former Grand Duke retained his private property including Mainau. When he died childless in 1928 the island passed to his sister Victoria of Baden, wife of King Gustaf V of Sweden. Upon her death two years later she bequeathed the island to her second son Prince Wilhelm, Duke of Södermanland and his descendants. In 1932 Prince Wilhem gave Mainau to his only child Lennart Bernadotte who owned it until 1974 when he transferred the island to a foundation. Count Bernadotte formed Enterprise Mainau GmbH in 1991 as a private enterprise to manage the island for the benefit of the Lennart Bernadotte-Stiftung. The Count remained active in managing Mainau until his death in 2004 but had appointed his second wife Sonja co-manager in 2001. Widowed, she and their children ran both the foundation and the management company until 2007. Since January 2007 Bettina Bernadotte, the eldest daughter of Lennart and Sonja, directs the Mainau GmbH as current manager, and since 2011 her brother Björn Bernadotte has joined her.

Pre- and Early History

In 1862, signs of an earlier population were discovered along the south banks of Mainau and soon exploited by domain administrator Walter: among the items were wedges, a potsherd, flint splinters, an axe and a muller. The pile dwelling settlement made up of six houses was uncovered in the 1930s and dated back to the Neolithic Age ( 3.000 b.c.). Lake-dwelling settlements of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age were located along the northern shore and the southwestern island along the shallow water zone.

[ENG] The complex of Wetlands of Sastago-Bujaraloz constitutes a set of endorheic lagoons without drainage, temporary and saline, considered as the most extensive and important in Europe, being unique for its peculiarities. It is located between the towns of Bujaraloz (Huesca, Spain) and Sástago (Zaragoza, Spain) between the regions of Los Monegros and the Ribera Baja de Ebro. These lagoons are flooded after the rains, and some - located below the water table - They also receive underground water, the latter being the ones with the highest concentration of salts. The evaporation exposes the bottom of the lagoon with a characteristic white saline crust. The vegetation that lives in the salt flats is adapted to low rainfall and extreme temperatures, and is arranged in concentric rings depending on its tolerance to salinity, the macrophytes appearing inside the buckets. Among the inhabitants of the salt flats, the aquatic invertebrates that have adapted their cycle to the presence of water stand out. And in its vicinity you can see foxes, rabbits, garden dormouse and ocellated lizards, as well as the birds short-toed snake eagle, Eurasian stone-curlew, golden eagle, common sandpiper, lesser kestrel, Dupont's lark, black-bellied sandgrouse and pin-tailed sandgrouse.

The Salada de la Playa is the largest of the whole and with the greatest presence of water, in which there are ruins of constructions related to the exploitation of salt dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, between those that include evaporation terraces, wells, salt store and barracks of soldiers guarding the farms.

[ENG] The Granada Cathedral, or the Cathedral of the Incarnation, shows impressive fronts and a magnificent interior with a grand altarpiece, several chapels and a sepulchral chamber in that the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs are situated. His construction began in 1523 in the place where the former Major Mosque had been placed under the direction of the architect Enrique Egas who conceived the temple in Gothic style, though his work remained limited to the foundation. In 1529 Diego de Siloé took charge of the works following his project of Renaissance lines, with ambulatory and five naves (instead of the three habitual ones) and it remained concluded in 1563. The main facade was undertaken in 1664 by Alonso Cano, in which Baroque elements were introduced. In 1706 Francisco de Hurtado Izquierdo and later his collaborator José Bada they constructed the current tabernacle of the cathedral. Only there got up a tower of three bodies instead of the two of six bodies projected. The lateral naves are closed in numerous chapels of different epochs and styles.

ENG: Yesterday, Sunday 22.05.2022 I participated in a six-hour Lost Places photo tour of go2know.de on the old and rundown airport site Rangsdorf and was once again heavily inspired. This time I provide a larger series here. ☻

In the 1930s, the Rangsdorf airfield was both a sports airport and an aircraft factory. While the manufacturer Bücker built sports aircraft in the huge production halls, there was always something going on outside on the airfield. Spectacular air shows were held regularly, with daredevil pilots performing daring pirouettes in the sky. Heinz Rühmann was a regular guest as a sports pilot. This is where the pioneers of aviation made history. The old airfield has been almost completely preserved with its many hangars, bunkers and outbuildings. However, the buildings are extremely dilapidated. Most recently, the Russians had used the site to repair their planes and helicopters. Russian writings and paintings can be seen everywhere. (...)

PROFILE:

- 1935: "Die Bücker-Werke-Rangsdorf" Bücker aircraft construction with production halls and factory airfield.

- 1936: Expansion of the site as a Reich sports airport with a water aerodrome and the first sports flying school

- 1939: Berlin commercial airport (temporary replacement for Tempelhof with German Lufthansa)

- 1940: Air base of the German Air Force

- 1945: Soviet Air Force base (maintenance, repair and overhaul of piston engines, jet engines and helicopters)

- 1994: Withdrawal of the Red Army and decommissioning

This week theme for the group MACROMONDAY is : The periodic table.

It was pretty hard to do this shot. My first problem was to calibrate light, and I was able to do only with a ND8 filter and a polarizer. Then I used a 430EXII flash at 1/2 power to light the glass and another 430EXII to light the background at full power. Balanced light for "fluorescent" to warm up the tungsten filament and get that bluish reflection on the glass.

But the worst thing was reflections over the bulb. I couldn't get rid of them in any way. At the end I managed to shape them to suggest the round shape of the bulb.

[ENG] The citadel of the Alhambra, located on the hill of al-Sabika, in Granada (Spain), is one of the most important architectural complexes of the Middle Ages and the greatest exponent of Islamic art in the West. Its history begins in the ninth century with military purposes, it was gradually expanding and in the thirteenth century, with the arrival of the first Nasrid monarch Mohamed ben Al-Hamar, the construction of the palaces that marked his time of greatest splendor began. The Alhambra was officially declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. Other pictures in Nasrid palaces album.

[ENG] The Madrasa of Granada (Muslim religious institution dedicated to the teaching of theology, Koranic studies, law, philosophy, astronomy and literature) was built in 1349, at the time of the Nasrid king Yusuf I, and developed its activity until 1492. Of the original building only the oratory (restored in 1976), and some pieces of the facade deposited in the Provincial Archaeological Museum. The current structure is articulated, like the primitive madrassa, around a patio surrounded by marble columns on the lower level and a structure adintelada on the top, and a horseshoe arch with a alfiz supported by two fine marble columns give way to the oratory of square plant, with the mihrab in front under a horseshoe arch with light and dark alternate segments, its walls are of masonry profusely decorated with motifs of lacer and polychrome plaster ataurique that halfway pass to octagonal floor through four tubes decorated with mocharabes. In the lower part there are pairs of horseshoe arches framed in alfiz, and in the upper one a frieze of lattice windows that illuminate the room. It is covered with a wooden alfarje with an octagonal lantern in the center (which is not the original). Other pictures in Oratory, Madrasa of Granada (Spain) album.

[ENG] The Church of Saint Andrew de Salardú, located in the Aran Valley (Lleida, Spain), was built between the 12th and 13th centuries in a transitional Romanesque to Gothic style. It has a basilica plan with three naves and four sections, and head-board of three semicircular apses. The most outstanding elements are a valuable polychrome wood carving (12th century) known as the Christ of Salardú, the bell tower of 25 m. high (15th century), the Romanesque portal of five archivolts adorned with plant motifs supported by columns, and the exceptional set of Renaissance wall paintings (17th century). More photos in the album Church of Saint Andrew of Salardu, Aran Valley.

[ENG] The church of Bossost , dedicated to the invocation of the Mother of God of Purification, is one of the best preserved in the entire Val d'Aran region, and a clear example of the prototype of a Romanesque church of the valley (very horizontal buildings, with three naves and three semicircular apses and a very marked gable in the presbytery). It was built in the first half of the 13th century, and includes many foreign decorative elements: strips of blind semicircular arches in the bell tower and apses, or the small vertical lesenes (pilaster strip) on the outside of the apse, both typical of Lombard Romanesque, checkered jaques on the front and eaves… Outside the temple, the highlights are the bell tower, the head and its two façades. More photos in the album Church of Bossost, Aran valley (Spain).

[ENG] Attached to the north wall of the church, in what possibly it was going to constitute a lateral nave, there is situated a hall to which one accedes for the exterior door and that conects, on the one hand with a portico or rectangular lounge, for other one with the lateral apse and for the front with the church. The facade of the portico divides in four sections, in each of which a wide large window is opened surrounded by arches lightly pointed that roll over on thin columns with capitals of vegetable ornamentation.

[ENG] The Toro Collegiate Church began to be constructed in the year 1160 during the reign of Alfonso VIII of Castile in Romanesque style, but his building did not end until ends of the 13th century, in Gothic style. The conjunction of both styles makes it specially attractive. The temple is formed by three naves with cruise that is finished off by a magnificent dome, whose design presents influences of the Zamora Cathedral and of the Salamanca Old Cathedral. He has three portals, those who are prominent the placed one in the north front, in that in one of his archivolts are carved the Elders of the Apocalypse, and the Door of West, also call of the Majesty, having a uncommon polychrome Gothic pórtico and richly adorned.

Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

2 Well # what is an exhibition that you want to visit even if you go there?

3 Challenge to exhibit one work every month before opening a solo exhibition at the Harajuku Design Festa.

4 works are materials and silhouettes. Similar to fashion.

5 Who is your favorite artist? What is it? Make it clear.

6 Creating a collage is exactly the same as taking photos. As I wrote in the interview # it is the same as writing a novel.

7 I want to show it to someone # but I do not make a piece to show it. Aim for the work you want to decorate your own room as in the photo.

8 What is copycat? Nowadays # it is suspected to be beaten. There is something called Mimesis?

It is a photo taken from Eurostar.

This video is an explanation.

I went to Milan in 2005.

At that time # I went from Milan to Venice.

We took Eurostar into the transportation.

This photo was not taken from a very fast Eurostar.

When I changed the track # I took a picture at the moment I slowed down.

Is there a Japanese beside you?

Please have my video translated.

During a night session with the group Noi del Piemonte a nice guy, living in the building, allowed us to enter and stay a wile shooting pictures.
