This is a photograph from the East of Ireland Marathon held at Lusk, Co. Dublin, Ireland on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2014 at 09:00. The race started and finished in the grounds of Lusk United Soccer Club (goo.gl/maps/luVz1). The marathon route followed four loops of a route around the back roads north of Lusk village. The rural roads were perfect for the marathon as there was very little traffic except some movement of agricultural machinery between various farms. This area of Co. Dublin is famous for it's vegetable growing industry. A water and feed station was provided at the end of the loop [here goo.gl/maps/A1JU1]. This was almost the perfect day for marathon running. There was little or no breeze. However temperatures were unseasonably high with temperatures close to 18C (64F) during the race.
The East Of Ireland Marathon Series aims to make marathons affordable and convienient for the runners of Ireland. The serires organisers aim to promote marathon running and to make the process as stress free and enjoyable as possible. All courses are measured to full AAI standards and have a minimum of 10 Entrants. The marathons are self sufficent to a degree although there are limited supplies of water available on the day of the race. There will be no extra frills like chip timing and finish gantrys. However all finishing times are accurately and officially recorded. This is to keep the price down and keep the races as affordable as possible. The East of Ireland Marathon series is all inclusive and welcomes runners who are new to marathon running as well as experienced veterans.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. G'day food lovers,
My head cold is getting worse. I needed comfort food. I emptied a tin of corned beef into a frypan and cooked it until it started to take some colour. I added a good dollop of horseradish cream and tossed in some kale sprouts, red cabbage, and cherry tomatoes. I put the lid on the frypan and cooked that for 3 minutes. I then tossed in a handful of spinach leaves and a splash of cream and cooked that for another 3 minutes. I served the meal in a bowl along with some triple cream brie and avocado cheeks.

while on our way to pisa, we made a stop in cecina for lunch. it was a cute little beach town. this stairway was filled with rainbow blow-up floating toys. there was a large variety of sizes, colors, and types of floating devices!
Third full day at Deep Creek Lake - the kids had a great time tubing on the lake off the speed boat. Catching the action from the dock as I was nursing a bad back again :(

The building, having military purposes and designated locally as H building, sits on a former Government Research site in Malvern, Worcestershire at Grid Ref SO 786 447. This site was the home of the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) from 1946. It has been owned by QinetiQ since 2001 and is in the process (October 2017 to February 2018) of being sold for redevelopment.
This unique building has at its heart a ‘Rotor’ bunker with attached buildings to house radar screens and operators as well as plant such as emergency generators. Twenty nine Rotor operational underground bunkers were built in great urgency around Britain to modernise the national air defence network, following the Soviet nuclear test in 1949. Two factors make H building’s construction and purpose unique; this prototype is the only Rotor bunker built above ground and it was the home to National Air Defence government research for 30 years.This example of a ROTOR bunker is unique instead of being buried, it was built above ground to save time and expense, as it was not required to be below ground for its research purpose.
H Building was the prototype version of the Rotor project R4 Sector Operations Centre air defence bunkers. Construction began in August 1952 with great urgency - work went on 24 hours a day under arc lights. The main bunker is constructed from cross bonded engineering bricks to
form walls more than 2 feet thick in a rectangle approximately 65ft x 50ft. The two internal floors are suspended from the ceiling. The original surrounding buildings comprise, two radar control and operator rooms, offices and machine plant.
The building was in generally good order and complete. The internal layout of the bunker remains as originally designed. The internal surfaces and services have been maintained and modernised over the 55 years since its construction (Figure 3). The first floor has been closed over.
There are some later external building additions around the periphery to provide additional accommodation.
In parts of the building the suspended floor remains, with 1950s vintage fittings beneath such as patch panels and ventilation ducts.
The building has been empty since the Defence Science & Technology Laboratories [Dstl] moved out in October 2008
As lead for radar research, RRE was responsible for the design of both the replacement radars for the Chain Home radars and the command and control systems for UK National Air Defence.
Project Rotor was based around the Type 80 radar and Type 13 height finder. The first prototype type 80 was built at Malvern in 1953 code named Green Garlic. Live radar feeds against aircraft sorties, were fed into the building to carry out trials of new methods plotting and reporting air activity
A major upgrade of the UK radar network was planned in the late 1950s – Project ‘Linesman’ (military) / ‘Mediator’ (civil) – based around Type 84 / 85 primary radars and the HF200 height finder. A prototype type 85 radar (Blue Yeoman) was built adjacent to H Building in 1959. live radar returns were piped into H Building.
Subsequently a scheme to combine the military and civil radar networks was proposed. The building supported the research for the fully computerised air defence scheme known as Linesman, developed in the 1960s, and a more integrated and flexible system (United Kingdom Air Defence Ground Environment or UKADGE) in the 1970s.
The building was then used for various research purposes until the government relinquished the main site to QinetiQ in 2001. Government scientists continued to use the building until 2008. Throughout its life access was strictly controlled by a dedicated pass sytem.
Notable civil spin-offs from the research in this building include the invention of touch screens and the whole UK Civil Air Traffic Control system which set the standard for Europe.
Chronology
1952 - Construction work is begun. The layout of the bunker area duplicates the underground version built at RAF Bawburgh.
1953 - Construction work is largely completed.
1954 - The building is equipped and ready for experiments.
1956-1958 - Addition of 2nd storey to offices. The first floor of the bunker was filled in to provide extra floor space.
1957-1960 - Experiments of automatic tracking, novel plot projection systems and data management and communications systems tested.
1960-1970 - Project Linesman Mediator experiments carried out including a novel display technique known as a Touch screen ( A World First)

A team led by Eric Johnson in H building at Malvern. RRE Tech Note 721 states: This device, the Touch Sensitive Electronic Data Display, or more shortly the ‘Touch Display’, appears to have the potential to provide a very efficient coupling between man and machine. 2008- The bunker was used until late 2008 for classified research / Joint intelligence centre
2019 - LIDAR scan of the buildings interior by MRATHS as part of the visual recording of the site prior to demolition work commencing.
2020 - The building was demolished

At 05:29:21 MWT (± 2 seconds), the device exploded with an energy equivalent to around 20 kilotons of TNT (84 TJ). The desert sand, largely made of silica, melted and became a mildly radioactive light green glass, which was named trinitite. The observed colors of the illumination changed from purple to green and eventually to white. The roar of the shock wave took 40 seconds to reach the observers. It was felt over 100 miles (160 km) away, and the mushroom cloud reached 7.5 miles (12.1 km) in height.

July 14, 2011 - Poughkeepsie: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo travels to Dutchess County to sign a new law that strengthens the enforcement against drivers who use handheld electronic devices while their vehicle is in motion. The legislation makes actions like texting while driving a primary traffic offense, giving law enforcement the power to stop drivers solely for engaging in this activity. Governor Cuomo signed the law at the New York State Police Troop K Headquarters at an event with local law enforcement and community members.
The Governor also announced that he will increase the penalty for using a cellular phone without a hands-free device or an electronic handheld device while driving from two to three points through changes in state regulations.

This is a photograph from the second running of the newly situated Irish 3/4 Marathon (formerly the Athlone 3/4) which was held in Longwood, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of October 2017 at 10:00. The event is positioned perfectly in the calendar as a key training race before the Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. This year was the second year that the event was held in Longwood, Co. Meath which is now well known for its hosting of the Longwood 10KM/5KM annual races and a host venue for East of Ireland Marathon series marathons on a bi-annual basis. The race started and finished at Longwood GAA club just outside the village of Longwood. It followed an anti-clockwise course around the beautiful picturesque countryside of south Meath. The course went through the townlands of Longwood, Castlerickard, Killyon, Hill-of-Down, Anneville and Ashfield Clonard, Blackshare, Stoneyford and back to Longwood. The river Boyne and Blackwater were crossed as was the Royal Canal and the Dublin-Sligo Railway line at Hill-of-Down. Overall this was a very different course to the previous years in Athlone. The overall elevation of the course works out at 3/4 of the total elevation of the Dublin Marathon course. What most stood out about today's race was the course and how the countryside around it looked on a beautiful almost perfect Autumn morning. There was a large local effort with stewarding and many local people watched from their gardens as the race passed by. The organisation of the race was first class with every detail taken care of from the start until the finish. There was some rain showers from about 13:00 onwards but these soon passed.
