Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. So much of our life is now experienced through screens of various sizes and this shot captured my imagination for that narrative. The eye contact from the woman on the bench was unexpected as she was equally engrossed in her 'device' just a beat before I clicked the shutter.

This is called "aka tonbo" 赤とんぼ in Japanese, literally-- red dragonfly.
I like the red rectangular pattern near the tip of the wings:)

31 years ago today my mom died. This was her last picture. My youngest son was just 6 weeks old, and my parents were going to Florida for the winter. I was going to miss them. They would be back by April to file their income taxes. Home shopping club had been advertising this new telephone device, that you plugged your phone into it, and if someone had the same device, you could see them while you were talking to them! Futuristic for sure! We didn’t buy them. My mom died the next day, after they arrived in Florida to their house trailer from a heart attack. She was 70 years old. That was a Sunday morning August 8, 1991. I was just remembering our conversations of how I was going to miss her and how I wished we had those devices to see each other while we talked. 31 years later, I just finished talking to my older son and daughter in law from my Ipad with FaceTime. We FaceTime all the time without thinking about it. 31 years ago it was a dream. I never had another phone call from my mom after she left, and she didn’t come back in April. My Dad came back two days later. I saw my mom at her funeral. She has been with the Lord these past 31 years. My dad joined her on October 31, 1999. Time sure does fly by and things change so much in this world. The Good news is The Lord never changes! His Word doesn’t change either. Some people think it should change to accept today’s changes. I have peace that it doesn’t change. The Bible says, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8❤️

two weeks ago I was confronted with my data in a hard way. My large storage device “Drobo” refused to operate after I upgraded it with another 2TB drive. The drive became unresponsive and after a while it did came back giving me the opportunity to retrieve some data…since this was my largest storage device I had to make sacrifices to the data I could retrieve, so I had to delete all my movies, series and software I had collected over the years. Luckily I did manage to backup my photography work.
That same week my laptop died and it has been sent back to Apple for repairs.
Fortunatly I do hold regular backup sessions, but it’s still a hassle and I’m once again aware that all data is fleeting, and no storage medium is safe from harm. Photo’s can burn, disk drives will fail…it’s time holographic data crystals are made…at least they seem stable enough….

This display in the National Museum of Scotland is a doomsday device from a Scottish supervillain who used to have a hollowed out base inside the nearby extinct volcano of Arthur's Seat.
Okay, it isn't, it is actually part of the particle accelerator engineering from CERN, used to move particles to almost the speed of light. With the geometrically arranged display of colourful wiring behind it and the large metal sphere shape I thought it looked like a doomsday device from a classic 60s spy movie or comic book.
