"Kallo is a beacon Mäntyluoto (Pori, Finland) front of the Kallo on the island lighthouse.

First lighthouse of the Kallo on the island was erected in 1884. First lighthouse fog signaling equipment was from 1901 from hand-to-use Hansen's sirens.

The current hardware elements assembled octagonal lighthouse tower and the splendor of wood on the side of the nurse home was built in 1903.

In 1906, the manual was replaced by a ball fog siren engines and compressors working with a siren, which was built in a separate machine protection. Fog horn was seven meters long and its jaw was three meters in diameter.

Lighthouse had two separate overlapping light device, which were identified by the differing red-white flashing lights. Light System was first amended on gas, and then an electric in the 1930s, and also the fog signal was replaced by electric equipment nautofonilla.

Cranial extension of the lighthouse and the red splendor of wooden housing is a Finnish nurse photographed lighthouses, the lighthouse Marjaniemi addition, it is the only lighthouse in which where you can drive a car."

They attached the 1-gm electronic devices to a leg of each grosbeak. The devices wake up every 2-6 weeks, record the GPS position and switch off. The northern wheatear or wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe) is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but is now more generally considered to be an Old World flycatcher, Muscicapidae. It is the most widespread member of the wheatear genus Oenanthe in Europe and Asia.

 

The northern wheatear is a migratory insectivorous species breeding in open stony country in Europe and Asia with footholds in northeastern Canada and Greenland as well as in northwestern Canada and Alaska. It nests in rock crevices and rabbit burrows. All birds spend most of their winter in Africa.

 

The northern wheatear makes one of the longest journeys of any small bird, crossing ocean, ice, and desert. It migrates from Sub-Saharan Africa in spring over a vast area of the Northern Hemisphere that includes northern and central Asia, Europe, Greenland, Alaska, and parts of Canada. In autumn all return to Africa, where their ancestors had wintered. Arguably, some of the birds that breed in north Asia could take a shorter route and winter in south Asia; however, their inherited inclination to migrate takes them back to Africa.

 

Birds of the large, bright Greenland race, leucorhoa, makes one of the longest transoceanic crossings of any passerine. In spring most migrate along a route (commonly used by waders and waterfowl) from Africa via continental Europe, the British Isles, and Iceland to Greenland. However, autumn sightings from ships suggest that some birds cross the North Atlantic directly from Canada and Greenland to southwest Europe, a distance of up to 2,500 kilometres (1,600 mi). Birds breeding in eastern Canada are thought to fly from Baffin Island and Newfoundland via Greenland, Ireland, and Portugal to the Azores, crossing 3,500 kilometres (2,200 mi) of the North Atlantic) before flying onwards to Africa. Other populations from western Canada and Alaska migrate by flying over much of Eurasia to Africa.

 

Miniature tracking devices have recently shown that the northern wheatear has one of the longest migratory flights known - 30,000 km (18,640 miles), from sub-Saharan Africa to their Arctic breeding grounds.

The conga, also known as tumbadora, is a tall, narrow, single-headed drum from Cuba. Congas are staved like barrels and classified into three types: quinto (lead drum, highest), tres dos or tres golpes (middle), and tumba or salidor (lowest). Congas were originally used in Afro-Cuban music genres such as conga (hence their name) and rumba, in which each drummer would play a single drum. Following numerous innovations in conga drumming and construction during the mid-20th century, as well as its internationalization, it became increasingly common for drummers to play two or three drums.

In the year 2112, Starship Cygnus X-1, Rush category, the flagship of the X-Cans fleet, silently orbits planet Samba on an Amazing Journey through the Musical Fidelity Universe. It is on a five-year mission to explore new musical worlds, to seek out new sounds no woman or man has ever heard before...

 

The subject was a rather "simple" one, because the only easily accessible "Inside Electronics" parts I had were these old tubes that used to be inside of my headphone amplifier. They are made of glass (of course) so you can see what's inside of them; making it a "double peek", if you like - an inside view of something that used to be inside of an electronic device ;-). I always wanted to use these tubes for a photo. The idea was to make it appear like a spaceship. Ever since the new tubes were installed, the amplifier sounds crappy (so I don't use it anymore; but it's 20 years old, so it's probably time for a new one...). I wasn't aware that the type of tubes can make such a difference in sound...

 

A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

 

Das Universum der Musik... Unendliche Weiten. Wir schreiben das Jahr 2112. Dies ist das Raumschiff Cygnus X-1, Rush-Klasse, Flagschiff der X-Cans-Flotte. Lautlos umrundet es den Planeten Samba auf einer fünfjährigen "Amazing Journey" durch das "Musical Fidelity" Universum. Viele Klangjahre von der Erde entfernt erforscht es neue musikalische Welten, die nie ein Mensch zuvor gehört hat...

 

Um nicht etwas aufschrauben und dabei womöglich beschädigen zu müssen (oder den elektrischen Schlag schlechthin zu bekommen), habe ich hier alte Röhren aus meinem Kopfhörer-Verstärker genommen, die ich schon immer mal für ein Foto verwenden wollte. Ein "doppelter Einblick" ins Innere der Elektronik, da die Röhren durch ihren Glasmantel sowohl Einblick in ihr eigenes Inneres erlauben als auch zuvor im Innern eines elektrischen Geräts verbaut waren. Dummerweise klingt der Verstärker nach dem Wechsel der Röhren gar nicht mehr gut (ich hätte nie gedacht, dass die Art der Röhre solch einen Einfluss auf den Klang hat), aber er ist auch schon 20 Jahre alt; vielleicht Zeit für etwas Neues...

I was rummaging through some stuff recently and came across a little demonstration circuit board that I obtained during my working career as a trade journalist. The board contained this device, which is smaller than my thumbnail, and I thought it might make a cool macro.

 

I don't remember a lot about it, but I think this device was intended to demonstrate the ability of the sponsoring company to construct tiny circuit connections. This would have been from the early 1990s, and must have been a device made for Sandia Labs and Aptos Corp. It was photographed at 2X magnification. You can zoom in for a closer look.

 

Getting as close as I possibly can on a circuit board, harvested from a remote-controlled power outlet whose remote went belly-up, capturing examples of tiny surface-mount devices, possibly resistors. The ruler scale at the bottom is in millimeters.

 

Taken with the Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens at 5X magnification. At that setting, the lens has to be less than an inch (25.4mm) from the subject, making lighting difficult. The lens and camera were attached to a macro focusing rail, a necessary but very finicky device (more so at extreme magnification) used to move the camera fore and aft to focus. Given my sometimes uncooperative set of hands I have, it was a challenge, indeed.

  

Macro Mondays: Theme: "Stick" 11-12-2017

 

This is the end section of a vintage 36inch long (One Yard) wooden measuring stick, drapers, tailors and decorators used these types of measuring devices, they were handy to get a measurement without using a tape so much more ridged, and better in certain circumstances.

This particular one was made by the firm Ridgley, these sticks are getting quite rare now, this one is very well used, but can still be used today and is very straight!
