Two Sydney Ferries "First Fleet" catamarans waiting for a berth at Circular Quay

Here's my new old friend

Claudia Rose

dancing as friends jam on old

songs after her recent performance

at Kulak's Woodshed

in North Hollywood

with the Bilgewater Brothers.

She & I are kindred souls,

both drawn like Hollywood magnets

to the spirit of the jazz age. She's

a young woman

with an old soul

and an amazing singing voice-

haunting, enchanting.

I love this photo

because it captures her spirit -

the happy way she floats and

dances through life. She is

an exultant spirit.

Ran into a guy last night

at a club in Sierra Madre

where I was performing -

and i won't quote him exactly

as it's too vulgar even for me -

but he informed me that

these photos of

Claudia Rose

excited him in a big way.

Dedicada a raul gonza|ez, porque sé que le gustan tanto las vespas como las bicis. ¡A ver si vemos algo más de lo que le sacas a tu Rokkor! ;)

Dedicated to raul gonza|ez, because I know he likes both vespas and bicycles. How nice would it be to see more of the pictures you take out of your Rokkor! ;)

Happy weekend everyone! :)

Central Station Sydney

Not the fastest or most comfortable way to get around Hong Kong, but the historic trams are really cool

Taken from the car, with a cameraphone. The quality is poor, but that's not really the point.

The earrings shown in these 4 pics were made by the sweet, talented "Gita Rau"....this pair is called "Cone Spiral" & she makes them under the name ~Beguiled~...here is a link to her stream

While everyone's rushing home on a Tuesday night, I'm here bs-ing around snapping pics of them mid-commute, I never really stopped to look around GCT and I must say it's really a marvel of modern construction.

Took this vertical perspective from the Chong Nonsi BTS station about a year ago. I've been going through all of my files and importing RAW images into Lightroom 3 and from time to time run across one that is interesting in some way. I thought this one had a nice perspective to it and figured I'd share.

I had often wondered why they, the government people, were building such a long catwalk down this stretch of road. I got the answer not too long ago. It was for that special bus line that gets its very own dedicated lane running down Thanon Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra. Jeez, that sure narrowed that big ass road down to traffic jam size. IMHO... what a screw up. I guess they couldn't add another train that direction, so the bus was the next logical choice. I hope it helps some commuters out who can't afford to take cars cause it will likely create a bunch of new ones who no longer want the hassle of added traffic down their old beat, or maybe that was the point.

(with orange pennant flag waving above) pausing behind, waiting to sprint past in the Ventura KSR road race segment. Bounce For Glory lapped the field again, repeating 2006's victorious road segment. Remember: These are people-powered machines!!

here's a closeup of how the front end is lowered.... nuts are covered with "nut caps" that i made on my home lathe.

Sometimes I get this situation when I need to decide if I get the crowded bus or I wait a bit more.

I was in India for about 11 days in early July, and tried my best to capture the power of monsoons in India. Initially, I just wanted to take pictures of rain, but then I switched my gears, and took all kinds of pictures. What you will see is the effect of monsoon everywhere - the lush wild greenery, wet streets, and a sense of relief from Indian summer, and maybe, smile on everyone's face.

School kids on rickshaw early morning in July. Life of a rickshaw wallah is very tough, but hopefully, monsoons gives him some respite.

I will take months to build my series, mostly on flickr, and selected ones on my blog.

The nice thing about the Ideal 250/3 is that it can take pictures on medium format film (type 120) if you put a roll film back in place of the normal plate holders. Finding a roll film back that would fit was kind of a problem, though, since the Ideal uses a very non-standard snap-in system. I finally found one on our last visit to Vienna, but it needed some little modifications to make it really light-tight (after having ruined two rolls almost completely, by the way).

For the first roll (almost) without light leaks, I couldn't resist running a roll of my beloved Velvia 50, since I wanted to see how does holding a 6x9 color slide in your hands feel like...

Happy Fence Friday and happy weekend everyone! :)

Clouds reflecting early morning sunlight

In a passageway on the Underground.

This was on one of the coldest days of the 2008-2009 winter. No problem! I just took my normal "Winter Commute" clothes, and added an under-layer. Normal temps this time of year are just above freezing, so it's not too much of a stretch to dress for several degrees below freezing. (Temp was 23°F / -5°C.) Once out of our driveway and the residential street, the streets were mostly clear. Icy in patches, though!
