A work in progress route map for trains running between Hams Hall and Domodossola Italy through Switzerland via Saint-Louis in North-Eastern France on the German and Swiss borders just north of Basel. If you can confirm or correct any of the route in blue please let me know.
In the UK the Unit45.com intermodal containers mounted on IKA 'Megafret' 'low floor' twin intermodal flat wagons containing manufactured goods, drinks and retail produce are hauled by a DB Schenker class 66 (JT42CWR) between Hams Hall Birmingham railfreight terminal and logistics hub owned and operated by Associated British Ports (ABP) (www.hamshallrailterminal.co.uk/Trains/) and Dollands Moor where a class 92 takes over for the journey through the channel tunnel.
The IKA 'Megafret' 'low floor' twin intermodal flat wagons are then taken on by other locomotives through Northern France and across Switzerland to DB Schenker's Domodossola intermodal terminal in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. According to DB Schenker the entire journey taking 35 hours. For a photograph of Domodossola yard on 23 July 2013 see Marcel van Eupen picture ( www.flickr.com/photos/rail4marcel2/9532886174/). luethiro photographed this service between Zug and Kiesen, Bern Switzerland on 13 July 2014 (www.flickr.com/photos/luethiro/14667634446/) and returning to Hams Hall on 14 April 2013 (www.flickr.com/photos/luethiro/10885677203/), while Mattias Catry photographed it at Spiez, Canton of Berne, Switzerland on 18 May 14 where a locomotive change occurs (www.flickr.com/photos/50604235@N05/14854616453/).

SBB CFF FFS: Domodossola is an international station and a transition point between two electrification systems: the Swiss 15 kV AC and Italian 3 kV DC. The northern half of the station is supplied with the Swiss system, while the southern half is with the Italian system.
Therefore, the EC 91 VAUBAN, from Bruxelles Midi to Milano Centrale, enters in the international station with the Swiss locomotive Re 4/4 II 11270 in head, with lowered pantographs to reach the southern half fed to 3 kV DC. Once stopped, a Italian locomotive will be shunts to remove the Swiss Re 4/4. Then, once decoupled, she will "launch" the Re 4/4 to the Swiss side for she can raise their pantographs again. Auf ihrem Weg nach Thun-Spiez-Zweisimmen / Brig-Domodossola hat die Lötschberger-Komposition soeben den Bahnhof Wichtrach im Aaretal hinter sich gelassen.
On its way to Thun-Spiez-Zweisimmen / Brig-Domodossola, the Lötschberger composition has just left behind Wichtrach station in the Aare Valley.

It has a hydraulic transmission and rod drive. The axles are driven by a jackshaft (between the 2nd and 3rd axle) by means of coupling rods. The locomotive has a 12-cylinder Breda ID36 diesel engine throttled from 440 to 370 kW, which transfers the power to the Voith fluid-flow transmission (hydrostatic), type L24. The continuous output power is 275 kW. The power is transmitted via a jackshaft between the 2nd and 3rd wheelset, jackshaft cranks at the two ends of the jackshaft and coupling rods to the wheels of the locomotive.
