Well my wife has been busy in the kitchen tonight, it is the annual PTFA Craft Fair. This time of year my wife spends long evenings helping to organise the event, tonight it has been cooking cakes, scones, flapjack etc.
They are trying to raise money to have the school playground resurfaced which is going to cost a whopping £4,000 so far since september they have raised just shy of £3,000 so we have our fingers crossed this is the last push.
So if any of you are near Budleigh Salterton then please pop into the village hall on Saturday and help them hit the target.
The Chinese girls from Nebraska Christian offered a Chinese Cooking Night. They demonstrated how to cook and serve a "Chinese Hot Pot." A Chinese Hot Pot is a healthy version of a fondue party. Hot pot dinners can last a couple of hours because you are cooking and eating in small portions at the same time. Participants had their choice of a variety of items (including steak, chicken, shrimp, sweet potato, lettuce, and mushrooms), to cook in two different types of broth in the hot pots.
It was a very enjoyable evening!
Intermediate/Advanced volunteer needed ||| *Must be a proven volunteer who has successfully restored at least one challenging Intermediate for us before selecting for adoption. This series is MUCH more challenging than a first glance might suggest, and images from this series are routinely turned back in or declined. The muddy textural 'veins' can't simply be blurred away, and will require careful, area-specific, manual repair. Color will also be challenging. ||| HIGH PRIORITY NOTE: Family has received only 3 restorations
hello, butter melting!
why clarify? because the solids in butter are what burn fastest and with such stinky aplomb. ghee has a much higher smoke point, and you can use it to sautee, fry or in place of regular butter in most recipes. it is indeed good on toast, and makes the butter last longer. it's commonly used in india, as well as other countries where it's hot as hell and butter might go bad easily!
Food is something that everyone loves! The only downside about food is cooking food. It is a slow process but it is definitely worth it!
I put these empanadas together by adapting a couple of recipes. The pastry is almost biscuit-like when it puffs up in the heated oil. The filling is a traditional pisto a sort of Spanish ratatouille. The pisto recipe makes a lot, but don’t be afraid of freezing the leftovers to eat later. It goes well as a sandwich or thrown in an omelet. Recipe and details on Veggin'... www.megabeth.net/?p=5914
