The Chinese girls from Nebraska Christian offered a Chinese Cooking Night. They demonstrated how to cook and serve a "Chinese Hot Pot." A Chinese Hot Pot is a healthy version of a fondue party. Hot pot dinners can last a couple of hours because you are cooking and eating in small portions at the same time. Participants had their choice of a variety of items (including steak, chicken, shrimp, sweet potato, lettuce, and mushrooms), to cook in two different types of broth in the hot pots.
It was a very enjoyable evening!

Yum yum yum. Water! We usually have water for breakfast and dust for dinner, but without me there to be a normalizing, they eat weird.
Cooking is very much a meditation for me. It must come to me genetically. My aunt once told me I cooked like my mother. She died when I was five so I'm certain that I learned very little from her having almost no memories from then.
I gave a cooking lesson to some young friends - 9, 11, and 12. We made French toast in the morning (no photos - I fail!) and homemade raviloli/tortellini in the afternoon, with home made sauce. I bough the wrappers for the pasta, but they made the fillings, and learned lots!
It was all VERY yummy!
New cabinetry knobs, faucet replacement knobs, and a kitchen pendant have been installed. That's my husband cooking dinner.
To finish, pop under a broiler for about 2-3 minutes to finish setting the top. I added a tiny bit of ground herbes de provence as well. YUM.

My first time making homemade pasta. Fettuccine, cookie cutout shapes, goat cheese ravioli. Recipe inspiration here: thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/05/homemade-pasta/, except I used two cups Bob's red mill unbleached white flour, 1 cup Bob's semolina, and 6 eggs. My son and husband loved the shapes and fettuccine, and I enjoyed the ravioli. Easy and fun, will make again!
