I saw these ("Cookie Splashes") on here yesterday and I had to try one. Little did I know, it's harder than it looks, and it took me quite a few tries (and a few stains on my clothes) to get to this one. But, overall, I'm very happy with it. In photoshop, I gave it a cross process treatment and added a vignette.

My sister Laura went just a little bit overboard with the holiday cookies this year. In total, she made 20 different kinds of Christmas cookies for our family's Christmas eve dinner, a total of something like 800 cookies. It was truly an amazing and delicious abundance of yum.
These were among the prettiest, although they are just simple iced sugar cookies the lovely range of colors made them stand out.
Woo Hoo! Found a few more pictures hidden on my son's laptop! This is one showing a variety of my 3D cookies.
Cookies I made for a 60th Wedding Anniversary. The couple own an apple orchard and the lady also wanted some church cookies put in as well. I would have preferred the platter with just the apple theme.

I always love decorating cookies. We may not have all the traditional shapes and sizes but we know how to have fun and let our inner food artist be free and experimanet with colors, lines, form and who knows what will turn up. One thing I can say for sure is they all taste great and make the house smell like holiday heaven. I'm not sure if that red one is a dancing elf or a red peanut ballerina. There are no mistakes only happy accidents. Well Blessing to you all which one do you choose. Only one rule :Leave at least one for Santa please.
INGREDIENTS (makes about 20-24 large cookies):
* 2 sticks softened butter
* 3/4 Cup packed light brown sugar
* 1 Cup granulated sugar
* 2 large eggs
* 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla
* 3.5 Cups all purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 10 oz bag chocolate chips
* 1 bag of Oreo Cookies (I used the double stuff kind)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix together the butter and sugars until well combined, then add in the eggs and vanilla.
2. In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking soda. Slowly mix in the contents of the other bowl, as well as the chocolate chips.
3. Using an ice cream scooper, place one scoop of batter on top, and one scoop of batter below an Oreo and cover the seams.
4. Place on parchment or wax paper and bake for 10-15 minutes
Teddy bear theme cookies for a 75th birthday. I was given the number of male and female children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren, but I took my best guess at personalities. Hope they all work out!

Vanilla sugar cookies decorated with royal icing and disco dust (on the "jewels"). I wish the disco dust would show up just a little better in the photo, it's really pretty and sparkly in real life.
