I've been playing with these designs for weeks and weeks and finally decided to just go ahead and make them. I used to love playing with paper dolls, and making them into cookies was even more fun!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (12oz.)
1. Preheat oven to 375º F
2. In a large bowl, combine flour,
baking soda and salt; set aside.
In another bowl, beat butter and
shortening at medium speed
until well-blended and fluffy;
gradually add sugar and brown
sugar, beat well. Add eggs and
vanilla, beat well. Add flour
mixture to butter mixture, mix
well. Stir in chocolate chips.
3. Drop dough by heaping teaspoons
about 2 inches apart on baking
sheet. Bake 9 to 11 minutes. Cool
slightly on baking sheet; cool
completely on wire rack.
The blue mat that the cookies are on is silicon, I'm testing it out for the Cooking Club of America, then I let them know what I think. I think it's very cool and worth checking out. No need for a spatula to remove the cookies and the mat can withstand up to 500º. You can also freeze them and then take them straight to the oven. Fold them up for great storage, they never lose their shape. A good investment!

These were made by my friend and I for a bridal fair we did last year. We wanted to get out name out there that we do custom made cookies for any occasion...unfortunately, no brides ordered cookies from us...but we did get 3 cookie cake orders for summer weddings for their wedding cakes (see pics of those in the cake set pics).
Playing around with some new ideas. The trees were inspired by a sweatshirt I found in a catalog. The square leaf cookies idea came from a pillow in a catalog.
Did anyone watch Empire? I am obsessed with this show, and Cookie Lyons! Taraji P. Henson is amazing is giving me true life in her performance as this no nonsense, powerful, strong, around-the-way girl diva.
Like a true boss, she strolls outta prison in her mid-90s getup, with a full on fur, leopard print short dress and chunky gold hoop earrings.
I can't wait til the next episode!

I thought that ToniItality's embossed cakes and cookies were so beautiful, that I asked her about how to do them. She very, VERY kindly gave me loads of advice and information....but I just couldn't wait for my new embossing things to arrive, so I used some old things I had while I'm waiting!

Small sampling of the 75 + Large sized cookies finished up late last night. By midnight I had wished I could channel some of Myri's magic for the bat wings. Just too tired to do any more. Little pumpkins on the ghosts are RI transfers. Seeing all the cute purple bats out there made me change my mind about doing black bats (Tracy's & Wilton's come to mind but I've seen several others as well) -- especially since these were for a daycare and most people don't want their kids to have food colouring at all, let alone black!

Voor de zaterdag staat hier een eerdere foto van een stiekem genoegen van mij, dus deze keer wat anders: koekjes met een dikke laag chocola.
Voor de zondag: blikken met bonen heb ik wel in huis dus ik kon een staatshoofd in een wit huis zittend achter blikken bonen imiteren, maar daar had ik geen zin in. Bovendien zou dat geen aantrekkelijke foto opleveren en daar gaat het uiteindelijk om.
Voor de foto stapelde ik de koekjes, zette een speciale lamp rechtsvoor en belichtte de koekjes van onderen.

For Saturday there is here an earlier photo of me of one of my guilty pleasures, so this time something different: cookies with a thick layer of chocolate.
For Sunday: at home I do have canned beans in store so I could imitate a head of state in a white house, seated behind canned beans , but I didn’t want to do that. More important, it wouldn’t deliver an appealing photo and that’s what it is about.
For the photo I put the cookies on a pile, put a special lamp on the right in front of the pile and directed upward, so the cookies were lightened from their underside.

I made two platters of these for my dentist's open house promoting Invasalign. This should bring good discussion regarding copyrighted images......Invisalign will have a rep there and it is promoting their product ordered by an authorized dentist...........hmmm! Sue the dentist - not me!!! Wrote the name of the dentist's practice on the toothbrush handles for a surprise. Wish the icing had crusted too soon on the centerpiece cookie!! Off to deliver!!
