I noticed a little theme in some of the scraps I pulled for Carissa's blocks...and so, a wee collection of cook books. Ha ha ha (don't kill me!)

Address: (9605 Dufferin Street)The William Cook House is presently part of the MacMillan Farm property, but was originally owned by William Cook. Cook was an early immigrant from England who played an important role in the development of the area. Cook served as the community's Deputy Reeve and was on the Town Council from 1861-1863. The property for the homestead was purchased from Thomas Cook, William's brother who owned 600 acres in 1841. The two storey, three-bay brick house was constructed in 1847 for Cook and his family. The house features classical details and a south addition added at a later date between 1850 and 1880. Descendants of the Cook family lived on the property until 1938 when it was purchased by the MacMillan family to be used as a country retreat. In 2004, Robert MacMillan Jr. and his wife donated a large portion of their land now known as the MacMillan Nature Preserve to the Nature Conservancy of Canada. The William Cook House was designated as a heritage property in 1984.Photo and thumbnail photo courtesy of the City of Vaughan Archives, Office of the City Clerk.Sources:City of Vaughan Bylaw #69-84 (heritage designation)Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco. Pork, Coleslaw, Cabbage, Carrot, Red onion, Celery, Mustard, Iodised salt

G'day food lovers,

Tonight I seasoned a pork cutlet with iodised salt and mustard powder and then cooked it sous vide at 55 °C for two and a quarter hours.

I shredded some red cabbage, celery, carrot, and red onion and mixed it with some mayonnaise to make coleslaw.

I seared the pork in a hot frypan.

It was delicious.

Have a good night. Bye.

Although I just posted black and white versions of these, I thought the colour ones were also worth posting.
