Am feeling ready to replace some of these titles with books that are more in line with what I'd like to be preparing these days.

The front cover of a cookbook from Spry Shortening. There is no date, but we think it is from the 1930s. Some of the people are a bit unusual. Thanks to Steve for the date.

Das große Kochbuch in Farbe

I love "Better Homes and Gardens" cookbooks. Most of them have classic illustrations and fonts that perfectly mirror the design and fashion of the times. And the recipes are pretty good, too.
Cooking Everyday was inspired by my love for cooking and the importance on preparing food for yourself everyday. The book includes some of my recipes, as well as consumer
tips, health facts, and advice on cooking. Illustrations for the cover were drawn by hand and made up of kitchen utensils that you would use for daily cooking. I literally took
items out of my cabinets and drawers, put them in front of me, drew them, and then made the drawings into a vector pattern using Illustrator. This pattern can be used for collateral to be sold with the cookbook, such as hot pads, aprons and towels. One type-
face was chosen and used throughout the entire book for its playful personality and legibility. The color pallet was created to resemble vegetable soup, since the recipes in the book are mostly vegetarian.
Although it is widely, and justifiably, criticized for cultural appropriation, Thug Kitchen is an excellent and useful cookbook.
Not only is the Banana Milk Shake fun to drink, it's also fun to make!

I was so excited to find this book in a box outside my door! I am impressed by the speedy delivery from NZ. I've been flipping through the book all morning, I don't know what I will try first..... I've been researching and itching to try making GF sourdough, so maybe her recipe will inspire me to get a starter ready this weekend.
New cookbook by Emma Galloway, author of one of my very favorite whole foods/GF cooking blogs, My Darling Lemon Thyme.
ETA: I was let out of work early so I sat out in the chilly air but warm sun, reading through the recipes. The teacher I work for drove me back to my apartment since we were done so early. We had a really good talk. I felt lighter afterwards, having said out loud and admitted some important things about myself. Things I knew but hadn't verbalized in quite that way. It was refreshing/a revelation.
