The Rainbow Sea Container artwork is 9 metres high, 19 metres long and weighs 66 tonnes.
The sculpture, by prominent Perth artist Marcus Canning, is constructed from nine recycled sea containers joined to form an arch. Colourful and creative, the sea containers form the shape of a giant rainbow as a universal symbol of hope and inspiration as well as being a highly visible Fremantle welcome statement.
The artwork was constructed with the help of large cranes on Beach Reserve, next to Canning Highway on the way into Fremantle town, overlooking the Swan River.
Liverpool2 is a container terminal extension adjoining the River Mersey in Seaforth, Merseyside. The extension, built by Peel Ports, officially opened on 4 November 2016 and is an expansion of the Seaforth Dock container terminal. It is able to accommodate two 13,500 TEU New-Panamax vessels simultaneously using eight Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited built Megamax ship-to-shore cranes delivered from Shanghai in to batches in 2015 and 2017. The blue cranes in the background serve the original Seaforth Dock container terminal. Transatlantic trade seems to dominate the business here but the lack of shipping at the terminal suggests that it is operating at nowhere near capacity.

Olcenengo still had more to offer: at 15:40, the night train from Reggio di Calabria to Torino Porta Nuova should have popped by - but instead, I got treated to this rather odd combination of four boxes and two tigers. E652.087 (in the rather elegant new Mercitalia livery) and E652.172 (in a, shall we say, different livery) are conveying four wagons loaded with containers (two of which are curtain side containers) towards unknown destinations in the west. East Anglia is not well known for heavy industry, however, there is one industry that is of some importance and that is the numerous ports, I visited Shotley Gate which has views of both Harwich and Felixstowe with the latter feeling almost touchable across the River Orwell. The container Port is immense and on the other side of the ships and cranes, just visible, are thousands of containers being both imported and exported. I hope I have captured the scale of it. The sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky but the wind was freezing cold!!
Another view of the Container House. The bit of water on one corner, is supposed to be part of a canal.
The back panels of the containers can be hinged open to reveal a fully furnished interior. Unfortunately, I didn't add a way to remove the roof of each container individually because of the connections needed for the angle.
Mondays container is ready to go.
Many thanks for all views and fav's - particularly comments!
All are greatly appreciated!
Happy Macro Mondays to you all!
