Na de plaatjes van de havenspoorlijn bij het Vaanplein, was het de bedoeling om de Rotterdamse haven in te gaan om te kijken wat aldaar te beleven was. Een vriend van me tipte me dat er 4 goederentreinen in een kleine anderhalf uur de grensovergang bij Essen op lijn 12 (Roosendaal-Antwerpen) zouden passeren. Voormij reden genoeg om na lange tijd weer eens die kant op te gaan. Het verdwijnen van de NS/NMBS Benelux treinen tussen Amsterdam CS en Brussel Zuid/Midi vanaf april 2018 is dan wel een flinke aderlating voor het grensbaanvak Roosendaal-Antwerpen, er blijft echter nog genoeg interessants aan (vooral) goederentreinen over om vast te leggen op deze fraaie spoorlijn. Daarnaast rijdt men over linker spoor tussen Roosendaal en Essen, iets wat we in Nederland verder alleen zien op het grensbaanvak Maastricht-Luik. Eén van de hoofddoelen om te fotograferen was de Neuss-shuttle van Crossrail tussen het Duitse Neuss en het Belgische Antwerpen. Tractie voor deze fraaie containertrein leveren de imposante diesellocomotieven van het type Class 66. Met Crossrail locomotief DE 6302 'Federica' op kop, passeert de goed beladen Neuss-shuttle als trein 44560 (Vl-Esn) de twee fotografen richting de Antwerpse haven. Na de passage van de enige kilometers verderop gelegen grens bij het Essen, is de eindbestemming in de vorm van de MSC PSA European Terminal ofwel bundel Krommenhoek bijna bereikt. De geruchten dat de Neuss-shuttle binnen afzienbare tijd met elektrische tractie zou gaan rijden zijn inmiddels waarheid geworden, want sinds vorige week rijdt deze trein met een Traxx locomotief als tractie tussen Neuss en Antwerpen. Voor het bedienen van de containerterminals in Duitsland en Antwerpen zal echter een diesellocomotief aan de lat blijven staan.

Ooit brachten kamelen zijde en jade van China naar Europa, nu komen computers en telefoons per trein. Het vervoer over de Nieuwe Zijderoute groeit snel. Sinds september 2016 rijdt de Chengdu-Tilburg-Rotterdam-Express. De dienst is opgestart door de Chinese railoperator CDiRS en haar Nederlandse partner RailPortbrabant.
Inmiddels zijn er al vele nieuwe spelers bij gekomen die containers uit China naar de Tilburgse terminal brengen, maar in tegenstelling tot de treinen van LTE gaan de andere vervoerders bijna allemaal weer terug met lege wagens. De vervoerstroom die door LTE verzorgd wordt is echter wel in twee richtingen verzekerd.
Zoals bijna altijd was op 14 juni 2021 de trein naar Tilburg weer vol beladen en had als trekkracht de 186941, een van de vijf ATTRACKTIVE FORCES loks in diwenst bij LTE. De lekker schone en kleurrijke loc passeert hier met weer vele Chinese produkten op weg naar de Railterminal ter hoogte van Harselaar.
The Rainbow Sea Container artwork is 9 metres high, 19 metres long and weighs 66 tonnes.
The sculpture, by prominent Perth artist Marcus Canning, is constructed from nine recycled sea containers joined to form an arch. Colourful and creative, the sea containers form the shape of a giant rainbow as a universal symbol of hope and inspiration as well as being a highly visible Fremantle welcome statement.
The artwork was constructed with the help of large cranes on Beach Reserve, next to Canning Highway on the way into Fremantle town, overlooking the Swan River.

Passing the One Columba at Antwerp.
She was launched at the beginning of this year and I believe she is the biggest container ship in the world or at least she was when launched.

Cruising away from Echuca in Victoria, B74, S313 and X31 crawl towards Moama in New South Wales with 9071 bound for Deniliquin as they cross the Murray River, the border between Victoria and New South Wales.

The back panels of the containers can be hinged open to reveal a fully furnished interior. Unfortunately, I didn't add a way to remove the roof of each container individually because of the connections needed for the angle.
