GB Railfreight "celebrity" Class 66, 66727 "Maritime One" powers through Hartford with 4D62 05:16 Seaforth Container Terminal to East Midlands Gateway.
The relatively new East Midlands Gateway terminal is operated by Maritime, hence this particular loco cropping up on this flow may not entirely be coincidence.
The service seems well-loaded and in demand with the challenges at the ports in the South East, so hopefully it becomes a permanent fixture, with maybe more to follow?
Navigating it's way through the surrounding high rise buildinga in Manchester City centre, Freightliner Class 70 loco 70005 heads through the Castlefield Corridor from Oxford Road Station to Piccadilly. With a mix of containers in tow, it leads the 4O29 intermodal from Trafford Park to Southampton.
Liverpool2 is a container terminal extension adjoining the River Mersey in Seaforth, Merseyside. The extension, built by Peel Ports, officially opened on 4 November 2016 and is an expansion of the Seaforth Dock container terminal. It is able to accommodate two 13,500 TEU New-Panamax vessels simultaneously using eight Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited built Megamax ship-to-shore cranes delivered from Shanghai in to batches in 2015 and 2017. The blue cranes in the background serve the original Seaforth Dock container terminal. Transatlantic trade seems to dominate the business here but the lack of shipping at the terminal suggests that it is operating at nowhere near capacity.
Down here in the Deep South, we tend to do thing a bit differently. The southern touch, we call it. And it gets applied to just about everything we do. Even container gardening. Mushrooms grow where their supposed to grow. We let 'em y'all.
