It's overflowing now! Creeping jenny, calibrachoa petunias, and a wonderful grass

Container crane at Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica. These cranes are pretty impressive. They can be used to life all types of items, including shipping containers.

I love the new food containers that are now popping up everywhere to replace the plastic and foam nightmares. They have a great feel to them and are fun to doodle on.

Container cars rolling down the Norfolk Southern line through Huntsville. (Editorial comment: I'd much rather stand by the tracks as a train rumbles by like this than be near a highway while a couple hundred 18-wheelers roar past. Just a personal bias ...)

I believe this is barley they had sitting out, waiting to go into production. Mac and Jack's make four kinds of beer: Serengeti Wheat, African Amber, an IPA, and Black Cat Porter. They let you sample them all (in that order) in a Mac and Jack's pint glass that you get to keep at the end.

I normally plant in the ground but this year , because of time constraints and curiosity I decided to use large containers. About two years ago some sweet unknown person dropped a lot of containers in my front yard. Some of the containers are huge. While I have had to buy potting soil and some seeds I have not spent more than $40. I am growing tomatoes, squash, oinion and sunflowers in the side yard area. Mixed in are flowers - cosmos, zinnia and marigold are my favorites because they are so easy to grow. I'm looking farward to seeing how well the veggies do in large contianers.

GeoKs have been diligently participating in the #31in31 challenge. Mr. GeoK helped out a couple of days to keep our streak alive and K joined me for a short walk to find a cache one day on the weekend. This plastic jar is the most colourful cache container we've found all month. GC3KCQB Pop - CCARS12 was hidden for a semi-annual cache hide/find event that is one of the best things about the Calgary area geocaching community. It hadn't been found since May, so I was a little concerned about whether it was still in place when I headed out to look for it - especially since it's a regular sized cache. And it took a fair bit of searching before I spotted a glimpse of something other than green in the waist-high grass. Bonus? The cache contained a very colourful trackable tag attached to a pathtag - so I got to log them both!

This photo was taken with the key line filter turned on, as I wanted the decorating job on the container to "pop" a little against the background of the long grass.

Thesis Book container. This preliminary design was simplified for the final build. The sides are open showing the brackets. It is more of a protecting sheath than a full container.
